You simply cannot make this stuff up. The accompanying photo is the cover page for a CDC publication called "Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic." No doubt they thought they were being clever and creative,

While I agree, the Examiner is a very questionable source, the CDC is not the only organization with a zombie preparedness plan. The British Columbian provincial government has an info page and a zombie awareness week.

I guess the mindset is if enough of the public fear it being a possibility, there will be at least some thought into how to combat it in the extremely unlikely case of it ever happening.

Thank God they weren't wasting their time preparing for Ebola!

The CDC launched the "Zombie initiative" a few years ago, it was simply a marketing scheme to get people interested in public health problems and it was satire, you know, laughing haha kind of stuff that people always take out of context.









But yeah, surely they must have been talking about real zombies.

I actually read the CDC's zombie apocalypse preparedness document a really long time ago when, I believe, it was first published on the web... I remember them stating that it was more of a gimmick to grab the public's attention and the guidelines were useful for any type of disaster.

And then there was the DOD's Counter-Zombie Dominance plan pdf
The disclaimer states that it started as a joke, but proved to be useful training...
It actually classifies different types of zombies.

i think the whole zombie thing is just a McMetaphor for 'civilian uprising'
kinda makes sense to train up a bunch of meat puppets to kill off the other meat puppets
