Thanks to the Dallas nurse that flew on a plane that has Ebola, 2 schools in Ohio have closed as a precaution because of the possibility that a staff member may have traveled aboard the same plane
In the mean time, the schools will be 'disinfected'

SOLON, Ohio — Solon Middle School and Parkside Elementary School in Ohio closed Thursday because of the possibility that a staff member may have traveled aboard the same plane as a Dallas nurse who has Ebola.

An email sent to parents by the school district said they learned a Solon Middle School staff member may have traveled aboard the same airplane, though not the same flight, as Amber Joy Vinson.

In the email, the district explains they learned about the situation late Wednesday. Since then, they have been working with public health officials. The closing of both schools is a willing precaution to allow both buildings to be disinfected.

www.usatoday.com...

No word as to how long the schools will be closed

This is really starting to show how easily it can get out of hand if the CDC is not careful

Personally, I don't think that they know WTH to say about Ebola, especially ones like in that thread you provided *shakes head*

But I'm thinking the schools did this more out of caution, just to be on the safe side
Kids immune systems aren't as strong as adults to fight off viruses & they are probably thinking safety first
And I'm sure the parents would agree

Clearly, the public doesn't trust what is being told to them
Numerous threads have proven how contradictory the info is on Ebola

I was just watching the news and they were saying that they might restrict anyone from flying domestically who may have been in contact or was a medical worker with an Ebola patient.

But anyone coming to the US from Africa will still be free to come here. Makes perfect sense...

well shutting schools down is nothing more than a band aid solution....if they really wanted to be sure about containing this the simplest solution would be to start at ground zero....they should have stopped traffic in and out of west africa when they first knew there may be a problem......

Well according to Watchitburn's comment, it seems our government is doing it azz backwards, which is typical of them

He said that 'they might restrict anyone from flying domestically who may have been in contact or was a medical worker with an Ebola patient' but......and this is the kicker....but 'anyone coming to the US from Africa will still be free to come here'

Wait, what??

i am not so sure a triple facepalm covers it.....there needs to be a shot of the entire crew of the enterprise in a mass facepalm to do that justice

Yes it feels as if the noose it tightening.

But fact remains. You have to have Direct contact.
Handling:
Blood.
Urine.
Feces.
Sputum.
Even...yes even Semen. ( so you may even consider it an STD ).

Remember. This is not airborne yet.
Viruses oddly enough are not live. ( Working in healthcare, its still confusing.)
It needs a viable host.

But I'm glad to see the school took action.
I remember the good old days.
When if one kid got Lice. We all got checked.
And the bend over and roll to a stand to check for Scoliosis

But as of now. Influenza ( Flu ).
Still is a bigger threat.

When schools shut down it scares the populace aka disrupt societal norms, saturation has to be at a certain % in the population in order to effect quarantine that will happen- its being tested right now in africa . its fractional- being step by step escalation.

I agree.
It does scare the public.
Especially when it's new, and not well understood.
From the parents eye's. This is pretty scary.
For the kids whom don't quite understand. This is more likely seen as a "Snow Day ".

They were not like this with Swine Flu.
And it was worse..even Avian Flu.

Let's hold of on Bio Population Control just yet.

Yea, there is plenty of fodder here for a conspiracy theory. To much info in fact, overload.

Obama wants to improve the economy of Africa. By locking down Americans, while Africans can come and go, they get to pick up the business opportunities.

I don't think you'll get many arguments here regarding info overload

The problem exists tho in what facts are 'truth' and what are 'guesses' or rather speculations

When they say 'probably' won't- well that doesn't sound 100% certain
And that is where it leaves the public leery

Then you have stupid remarks like this, and this is from the CDC Director:
[per link provided in hopenotfeariswhatweneed post above]

...you cannot get Ebola by sitting next to someone on a bus, but that infected or exposed persons should not ride public transportation because they could transmit the disease to someone else.

Oookaaaay, what ever you say dude

I do think it's good that the school put the kids health into consideration even though- hopefully- nothing will come of it
Doesn't hurt to be cautious

Although I bet that staffer is worried

This new phenomenon and the long running and clearly impossibly frequent bomb threats shutting down schools added together with the ever increasing police brutality things seem grim. When the economy finally collapses again, so too will society. The United States will become a fascist totalitarian police state. We will make Hitler and his Nazis look like children. If humanity survives (and America doesn't win) then America will be the bogeyman for millennia. Even without all my apocalyptic doom porn it's getting very very hard to be proud to be an American.

Remember the thread where the OP said they were spreading Ebola on purpose and the only region left to infect was the Midwest?

Well, now they have it.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

It was a smart thing to do. And the children that the STUPID nurse exposed to ebola should be taught at home for their watch period.

This story goes to show how much damage just one ignorant and selfish person with Ebola can do. She knew she had a fever and yet she flew anyways. Her alleged phone call to the CDC doesn't get her off the hook on this one. Fever = contagious. Everyone knows that .. and especially a nurse would.

One dumb person with ebola ... look at the mess made.

Imagine dozens of them doing the same thing.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.
