These events are about both one of the greatest human achievements and the international suppression by both nations and corporations.
The events start in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1953. A four years old boy had the ability to fly without the use of any technology. he freely shared the flying method with others and the method was published in two booklets. It started the "Flying Movement".
Soon, about 10,000 American citizens, both adults and children were using the flying method for both recreation and transportation.
Some adults would fly to their jobs in New jersey and use the air space above the traffic lanes of the Tacony-Palmyra bridge, causing the bridge authorities to erect a sing stating "No Flying". That sign was removed in 1975. Also, adults and families from nearby states would fly to the southern New jersey resorts. The resorts floated larger balloons with their towns names on them, to be guides to their destinations for the vacationers.
The "Flying Movement" came to an end when both American and foreign both governments and corporations, conspired to ban and obliterate the "Flying Movement" and the method of flying from the globe. Americans and all other peoples of the globe were prohibited from flying, and the method censored by all the governments. This was done to insure continuous flow of wealth to primarily oil producing corporations, as well as the royalty of both Europe and Mid-East. It would also insure a continuous flow of money into American politician's back pockets.
The feeble excuses for banning flying and the method of flying by our government were both "national security" and "disruption of economy".
Anyone who recalls this as a witness either to the flying or as a participant, ( you would be age 65 years or older), is encouraged by me to post recollections and experiences in this thread.
If you ask any government on this globe they will state that the "Flying Movement" never occurred.

Do you have any data - documentation - links that back your claim(s)?

Cool thread but without proof it's just a story.

they simply grabbed hold of their shoelaces and pulled up really hard - so they lifted themselves off the ground and flew!

Well the OP is obviously talking nonsense but it sounds interesting all the same.
Its probably from a book or sci-fi writer or something.
I'm sure somebody at some time would have spoken about this.
Still it was an interesting, if a little crazy OP.

Reminds me of The Lorax..

The idea of this being real is absolutely fascinating. So far, you seem to be the only one who has a clue about this. Is there not any more information that you can share with us?

I can't help but feel that people would have still shared with their children and grandchildren how to do this if it were possible. If I could do something that amazing, I would teach my daughter how to do it regardless of what Big Daddy Government said. It seems like they would find it important enough to pass it on in some form or another.

I recall seeing some instructions written around the early 80s. The trick is to fall, but miss the ground. Should be easy for a klutz like me, I'm good at both falling and missing things, but I could never get the second part right.

www.extremelysmart.com...

There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss. Pick a nice day, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] suggests, and try it. The first part is easy. All it requires is simply the ability to throw yourself forward with all your weight, and the willingness not to mind that it's going to hurt. That is, it's going to hurt if you fail to miss the ground. Most people fail to miss the ground, and if they are really trying properly, the likelihood is that they will fail to miss it fairly hard. Clearly, it is the second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties. One problem is that you have to miss the ground accidentally. It's no good deliberately intending to miss the ground because you won't. You have to have your attention suddenly distracted by something else when you're halfway there, so that you are no longer thinking about falling, or about the ground, or about how much it's going to hurt if you fail to miss it. It is notoriously difficult to prize your attention away from these three things during the split second you have at your disposal. Hence most people's failure, and their eventual disillusionment with this exhilarating and spectacular sport. If, however, you are lucky enough to have your attention momentarily distracted at the crucial moment by, say, a gorgeous pair of legs (tentacles, pseudopodia, according to phyllum and/or personal inclination) or a bomb going off in your vicinty, or by suddenly spotting an extremely rare species of beetle crawling along a nearby twig, then in your astonishment you will miss the ground completely and remain bobbing just a few inches above it in what might seem to be a slightly foolish manner. This is a moment for superb and delicate concentration. Bob and float, float and bob. Ignore all consideration of your own weight simply let yourself waft higher. Do not listen to what anybody says to you at this point because they are unlikely to say anything helpful. They are most likely to say something along the lines of "Good God, you can't possibly be flying!" It is vitally important not to believe them or they will suddenly be right. Waft higher and higher. Try a few swoops, gentle ones at first, then drift above the treetops breathing regularly. DO NOT WAVE AT ANYBODY. When you have done this a few times you will find the moment of distraction rapidly easier and easier to achieve. You will then learn all sorts of things about how to control your flight, your speed, your maneuverability, and the trick usually lies in not thinking too hard about whatever you want to do, but just allowing it to happen as if it were going to anyway. You will also learn about how to land properly, which is something you will almost certainly screw up, and screw up badly, on your first attempt. There are private clubs you can join which help you achieve the all-important moment of distraction. They hire people with surprising bodies or opinions to leap out from behind bushes and exhibit and/or explain them at the critical moments. Few genuine hitchhikers will be able to afford to join these clubs, but some may be able to get temporary employment at them.

By the late great Douglas Adams.

s+f and a pat on the back for all the bashing you are taking in this thread.

When they stopped this little flying method they also probably saved countless lives. I can only imagine... How can you safely pull over a drunk flyer that left his home in a balloon?

Well duh, they stupid kid didn't run things through the Pentagon. smh I mean if he had taken his idea to them first, we coulda had Jetson cars by now.

Gee, I thought I knew how to do everything. Now I found I didn't need to rent a plane to take flying lessons. I kind of enjoyed flying the plane though, except that loud cold Cesna I flew the first time. You needed the insulated headphones and choppers to fly that thing in the winter. Can you imagine trying to fly in the winter without a plane? You would arrive an ice cube.

Cute story, but unless I'm way off, a little off. Back in the 60's (1960's) there were a number of backyard balloonists that would make hot air balloons and fly them (If I remember correct there was even a Popular Mechanics article about it (April 1963)

Is this what the OP is posting about? Or is it some kind of goofiness about people flying around? Which having studying the whole human flight phenomena, I can only say that there are no true examples of this currently around.

Can I just add to this, the reports from various people over the years to Ninja masters and Buddist Monks levitating whilst in a trance?

A friend of a former work colleague was very high up in Jujitsu or some similar form of martial arts. He got requested to go somewhere in Asia many years ago to further his studies/teachings.....he specifically recalls the one moment that changed his perception forever so much so that he left almost immediately.

He said he walked into a temple to see one of the monk/masters and upon entering saw him levitating above the ground in a trance state.

It was too much for him personally to deal with and comprehend so he left.

How much are similar stories of levitation amongst monks related??????? Im not informed enough on the subject.
