Can't they bring back terror birds instead?

Terror birds fascinate me. THe last vestiges of the Terrible LIzards. The ones with claws instead of wings freak me out the most.

Any scholarly info on how they went extinct? I believe SA was the last real stronghold of terror birds...but perhaps that is just me misremembering.

I don't know anything about them, really, but I think they might come in useful.

For the cull.

Interesting articles on the de-extinction of the Passenger Pigeon.
The author clearly feels that bringing them back is a good idea, although cloning birds (since they develop in an egg, rather than a uterus) presents some unique challenges.

My feeling is, I guess they don't.

Although to much of the world it's the quintessential American bird, it sounds like they will wipe it out again.
