Owned and I have a feeling we are traded like commodities also. We are all property of the state.

If you made no real capital improvements I don't see how they could do that to you. Grass and paint, I would have taken my car and did donuts on the lawn while hosting a graffiti contest using the building, disgusting.

Off topic, I always though you were a she. I have to change the voice I hear when I read your stuff now, how should I make you sound?

A little pee wee Herman with a lot of Al Pacino. But to get it right...mostly just confident enough to tell a bedtime story for my wife to fall asleep in comfort while feeling safe.

Peace

Josie is one of my faves on YT. I do hope everyone takes the time to at least watch Part one. She nails it, and says it better than I've tried to, many times on ATS.

Sure.

5% of what you originally paid.

That makes us happy right?

Are you referring to your property taxes? Those mostly go for the education and municipal budget as it is all used at the local level.

I feel your pain on this.
Entrepreneurs are held back by all the lobbying of the Corporate big bollocks which strangle small businesses so that they have no competition and hence when the competition is gone they hike up the prices.
It also adds to higher unemployment and lower wages.

Conspiracy theorists will add that it's part of the Orwellian New World Orders plans to shut down everyone so they become reliant on the Government and we all end up living in a socialist nightmare where we are no longer self independent and are slaves to the very grease ball elites that shut us down by federalizing everything and taxing us to death in the first place.

Those that actually beat the socialist system and become slightly affluent and successful by starting small businesses are demonized by so called democrats who then spark off an agenda where long term welfare recipients are manipulated into thinking these middle class people who got off their arses( and made it by working hard and in many cases employing other people and paying a lot more than the Devils that own Walmart and such like)are the enemy of the poor because they have a nice car or a decent house.

My only solace is brother,i can escape to places where their tentacles cannot feasibly reach for the next few decades.

Here in NZ a few years ago we had politicians actually try and introduce a fart tax. It was for farmers and every time one of their cows farted they were going to pay.
They couldn't pass it because people laughed it away.

Hey Jude, good rant for sure and it sure made me sad reading it........I feel for you man thats a bad trip and I could almost envision your business and nice you got it looking.

A few years ago I was out back of our single story home (very humble and small) working in the yard when a lady walked in through the gate.
It was a really hot hot day with high humidity, she introduces herself as the tax assessor and wants to know about our home inside and out for tax purposes.

Well right off the bat I am thinking that our basement is listed as "unfinished" which is not true.......that is probably worth about $400.00 more per year.

So I pull out the charm and ask her if she would like a glass of ice water or pop, she said please so asked her to make herself comfortable at out shaded picnic table and I would be right back.

I rush back outside to serve her drink and she asked me if she could smoke?
I already had an ashtray on the table and I could not believe my luck as she was making small talk and really enjoying the shade and the drink.

Myself with a history of retail work went customer relations 101 mode and started with questioning her job and how she liked it. After we got that discussion finished we went to family and then gardening.......by this time she has her shoes off and is quite relaxed and so am I until she asked me what changes we have made to the house?

Now we did change a bedroom into a dining room, and as I said the basement is listed as raw/ unfinished but that is how we bought the house.

so I told her that we put new windows in and re-finished the hard wood floors.
She pulls out a book and makes a few notes and then has another smoke and then says to me have a nice day and thanks for the drink and rest.

By golly was I happy!!!!!!
Mind you we are due for another assessment soon and I am sure we won't luck out twice with it.
You are correct on the over taxation and the punishment for trying to do right.

S$F Regards, Iwinder

It's only going to get worse. Just check out this recent letter from the I.R.S.

Internal Revenue Service
Franchise Tax Board
Washington, D.C. 10029

NOTICE OF INCREASE IN TAX PAYMENTS
Effective December 1, 2014

ATTENTION: All Male Taxpayers

Gentlemen,

The only the that the Internal revenue Service has not taxed is your "Ding Dong". This is due to the fact that 50% of the time it is hanging around unemployed. 10% of the time it is pissed off, 35% of the time it is hard up and 5% of the time it is in the hole. On top of this, it has two dependents and both of them are nuts.

Accordingly, as of December 1, 2014, your "Ding Dong" will be taxed according to size.

NOTE: To determine your category please confirm this information on your standard 1040 form.

10-12 inches - Luxury Tax of $5,000
8-9 inches - Pole Tax of $2,500
6-7 inches - Privilege Tax of $1,500
4-5 inches - Nuisance Tax $500

** Note: Anyone under 4 inches is eligible for a refund.

Please DO NOT request extensions.

Males exceeding 12 inches MUST file under capital gains.

Sincerely,

Your Friendly I.R.S. Agent

My take is that our government's main goal is to make the people dependant upon them. That simple! If they bring down the economy, keep a bunch of people out of work, don't allow them to profit from their own efforts (eg. start a business), then they maintain or gain power.

If any big politician was honest, they would agree with this statement. "In a perfect world, in the opinion of the progressive left...all citizens would not have money, credit, property, etc. They would work...the government would collect all monies and then the government would decide who gets what, how much and what they can use it for, and through which approved companies...usually government itself."

Proof? The left side of government wants to decide what you can eat, what you can buy (health insurance), what you can drink (NY..soda), what you can drive (electric cars?), how and what your children are taught, what you can and can't smoke, how much money you are allowed to earn or keep...and that list goes on forever. The only way to do that is to control YOUR money and property. That is the left, progressives...not the republicans. The republicans have their own issues, but on this topic, it is the left that wants to tell all us idiots how to live. THEY DON'T THINK WE CAN DECIDE FOR OURSELVES! And sorry to say...for many people, that may be true. But NOT for me...and not for the majority I know.

Redistribution is claimed as something designed to help people who are poor. It is not. It is an indoctrination to a new way of thinking where government becomes "Mommy and Daddy", doling out an allowance if you are a good boy, and withholding it when you aren't. It is the standard plan to create an "adversary" (eg. the rich) and a "savior" (eg. government). Yes...THEY WANT TO BE YOUR GOD! THAT is why I HATE our government! THAT is why I am so against their plan and why I would rather live in a society with very little government where the individual is in control of their success or failure...not some greedy, heartless group that only wants control, power and to become an all-powerful god over the "free" citizens.

So there is my rant. Take it for what it is worth. Disagree if you wish...but...it is the truth.

So how can a small business run when all I hear every Day is that "We want small business to open and succeed" is on the radio but as soon as we open the big boys swoop in to tell us how much more we need to operate?

I am disolving my LLC on 31 DEC after 4 years. One can only take so much. I run/ran a small sewing business. I will still do everything I always have, just as an unregistered/unafilliated cash-only bonded tradesman. I cannot wait to file My IRS form 966 with my final tax return and articles of dissolusion.

The larger corporations and other businesses, those who actually have a large enough market share to afford lobbying expenses, do not want small businesses to succeed. Of course they likely only focus on businesses who provide the same or similar types of goods or services, but when you consider all of the large companies and the sheer variety of goods and services, there are likely not too many small businesses that are not treading on the foot of these larger entities. So these larger businesses lobby to make things harder for the small businesses, and personally I believe this is where many of the problems arise. I mean have you ever seen a bill passed by the government, and you just shake your head? You're wondering what they were thinking, and you wonder if they've lost their minds.

The truth is that this bill is serving someone's interests, and this is by design. I think this goes for taxes on many occasions. We have nowhere near the amount of freedoms that we are said to have. The US government is fast becoming despotic, although they have refrained thus far from most things that openly oppress the people, focusing more on those things which will not attract the attention and scorn of the nation as a whole. And this is not a partisan issue. The failures of our government are mostly due to the melding of big business with the government, and both parties participate in helping these businesses at our expense. It is a given that the majority of politicians will do this, because this is necessary to survive in politics, especially on a national level.
