If a kid identifies as female but possesses the wrong plumbing for that gender, or back the other way, then I say let the pee fall wherever is most comfortable. What I disagree with is the insistence on not actually addressing the needs of the individual students by referring to them with these ridiculous androgynous monikers, rather than teaching acceptance and awareness of the issue at hand by confronting the preferences of the individuals concerned.

The issue of gender does need addressing, but measures like this will not have any benefits in that regard what so ever.

Is your state one of the 4 trial states? If it was you would know that 3 have already started the legal process to withdraw. THIS sort of stuff was also a huge problem for teachers. It got educators up in arms in NY for example. Teachers saw another 10 years of "no child left behind" where they are just constantly testing kids to see if they have successfully memorized the test material (been indoctrinated) and all under the pressure of being fired if their kids didnt pass.

This is proposed by Common Core Sex-ed. There IS NO SEX ED. Instead it is to be gradually included into all subjects...like math and what ever else the students are already in class for. THAT is why there is no Sex Ed.....

Funny you should ask... It's now a big no no to call things stupid. It may be insulting to people with learning disabilities. I wish I was joking. Obviously calling someone retard is questionable, but stupid?

man this political correctness hurts my head

So.... no source then?

And no, I will not identify what state I am or was in (nor will I narrow it down.)

I'm fine with the gender neutral approach too.

Maybe the two of us just aren't Purple Penguin material.

For sure.

1) I dont care where you live.

2) use the computer yourself. I told how and why it was implemented. You disagree? OK. Show me where common core talks about sex and sexual education....The only thing you will be able to find is the same argument about sex ed. That it should be just shaped into other curriculums for all courses.

Thats how it works..

HERE is a good link. www.corestandards.org...

Show me on that common core page where sex ed is talked about......I already told you why its not there.

HERE is a great read about common core.

I was unable to find a source detailing that "It is now mandatory in common core trial states for EVERY class and EVERY subject to include a gay friendly question, assignment, or statement to be made." Thus, why I asked.

Edit: Whoa now, aggressive much?
edit on 10/9/2014 by TycoonBarnaby because: to respond to an edit

2nd Edit: I read your source, unfortunately the author did not source it to anything reliable that I could see. Not sure why you took such an aggressive tone towards me, as I probably agree with you when it comes to Common Core (it was one of the many, many reasons I left public education in the States.)

This is not a Liberal issue. I can tell you that because I am as liberal as they come and this flat out blows my mind. I do not see it as a conservative issue either. Not blue, not red, not socialist, not capitalist. This is what happens when the fear of offending others becomes so overpowering that logic and rational thinking go out the window and armies of lawyers are hired to come up with phrases like "purple penguins".

Have I mentioned how much I hate lawyers?

Here is this from a professor of literature in Arizona from that last source I gave you. The man is one of the first people to speak out against common core besides two former members of the Common Core approval committee that opposed its implementation and were consequentially written out of the report produced with all their observations and judgments.

There is a heavy socio political content of sex throughout Common Core curriculum being taught in every grade and in every subject, the student is taught that there is a sameness of gender, there is no longer simply boys and girls according to Common Core. The sexual content of Common Core crosses into every curriculum taught, from teaching sexuality skills in sex education courses by specially skilled and trained sex education teachers. Sexual activities and content in included in every subject taught. Sex is taught in the English curriculum, is included in the language curriculum, sex is woven into the science curriculum, in the math curriculum, in the social studies curriculum, and of course in biology.

Since sex practices are included in every subject taught, parents will no longer be able to opt out of sex education being taught to their children in city schools, and by opting out assuming that only they would be able to teach their children sex education at home, and in accordance with their personal and religious beliefs. Children are taught holding hands, hugging, kissing, is the same as every other deviate sex acts—they are taught there is a sameness to “all” sex—there is no such thing as normal sex in Common Core, wide open sex of every weird type is taught to be acceptable in Common Core. Pornography is no longer looked down upon in the Common Core curriculum. Very young students can’t even comprehend those teachings and understand that if someone does something to their little bodies, that they were told about in the Common Core sex curriculum, that it is wrong and shouldn’t be done to them.

The Core Curriculum states the students must be taught cooperative and active sex, working together in lab sessions with each other. Students can’t opt out on their own, because sex crosses into all the Common Core courses and all the testing—if they opt out they would fail the testing. They are being taught by specially sex skilled teachers, and the students are tested on sexual skills and concepts being taught. Every imaginable inappropriate sexual skill is being taught to students in kindergarten through grade 12. These inappropriate sexual skills are being driven into the Common Core curriculum and are being tested by the Department of Health Education and Welfare.

I can see why the two academics, one a mathematician and the other an expert on English literature both said common core was terrible. They were of coarse written out of the approval committees report. The concerns raised by them as well as their names were just removed.
They said that the actual amount of education has been removed by as much as 50% in some aspects because of a shift in focus of time and resources towards group methodology and group oriented ideology shaping.

As I edited in above, I agree with you (and the author of that source) that Common Core is completely terrible (especially for mathematics.) I also have a PhD in Mathematics, and trying to justify going along to continue doing what I have enjoyed the most (teaching,) just could not be done when I saw what was expected of me. I am simply trying to find the original source for this idea, that is all.

What I am finding is curriculums have been developed by GLSEN/LGBTQ (questioning) ---- that can be chosen to be included.

Oh ok. I am sorry.

The thing is you wont find much because there is no sex ed to talk about. It has just been placed in all other subjects where possible. That is the point I was trying to make.

My apologies.

Have a good one.

I've been hearing this and they don't want to be gender specific. But why Purple Penguin? Why not student. Can you imagine little Mary in kindergarten and the teacher calls her a Purple Penguin and she insistently says "but I'm a girl" Talk about an identity crisis.

Oh, well, they can also ask students what they like. You know. Do you like being a skateboard or a bicycle? Or would you prefer being juices or milks?

But I wonder what would happen to the child who says I want to be a boy or a girl?

Detention and reconditioning. Kids who say that are obviously homophobic/transphobic little monsters bent on keeping the patriarchy in place. You are a purple penguin now, and you like it.

Anyone suggesting Purple Penguin is dealing with kids who's parents own their minds.

Purple Penguins are not independent thinkers.

Dreaming in Cuban

This is recommended exemplar literature for Common Core. If you look at it, not only is it not particularly literary in terms of the language used, but it has explicit sex in the passage displayed.

It has the sex and it's multi-culti both in its characters and its author. Perfect for the Common Core agenda.

An then momma marches down with a lawyer in tow and threatens to sue them for making the classroom a hostile environment for her little boy because it is now gender exclusive rather than being inclusive. My son is a boy and he knows it and I dare them to try to tell him otherwise.

And if they try hitting me below the belt, I'll pull a double and use the race card on them.
