Just sharing this because it's a beautiful ambient melody/song that hits me in the gut every time I hear it. I like dark ambient also, but I prefer the first two beautiful minutes of this song, from the Underworld soundtrack:

Music can "hit" me for various reasons. It can make me feel powerful, like this one does:
(Sticking with your Underworld theme)

Or put me in a trance-like state:
From the movie DRIVE:

Or when I feel frustrated with the world:

Or when I'm at my best, and my happiest..I CRANK THIS UP!

There is so much music that touches me in so many ways.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting (everyone too). I'm more so talking about music that is just undeniable. I can hear a thousand melodies, but one certain string of notes or chord progression can sometimes send me to tears.

Whoa, I hope the buttcheeks are ok. Oops... lol

Kitaro's music moves me like no other artist has ever. I so hope one day to see him perform live, it's number one on my bucket list. Just watching him become his music as he plays is soul stirring to me.

We all have different taste in music that can promote the same feelings. I have depression and anxiety, so I tend to avoid the type of music that you posted because it exacerbates my down side. But if that is what you prefer to be posted, here is one I favored previously, before I stopped listening so much to that type of music.

Since people are posting ambient and chill music, thought I'd share a couple of my favorites.

I could be stressed out of my mind, and this would calm me:

Also very calming:

Maybe I'm just weird, but listening to sad music actually cheers me up most of the time. If i listen to some Daniel Johnston or Elliot Smith, you can just feel the raw emotions of them pouring the sadness out of their hearts. Hearing them puts things in perspective. What was I so bummed out about again? Lol.

I find solace in the fact I will most likely never feel emotional pain to the extent those tortured souls endured and turned into gorgeous art.

ETA: Forgot one. If this doesn't make someone tear up a bit, then they may be dead inside. Realest (snip) I've ever heard.

This thread needs more attention and music! The net could use more good tunes and less bitching..

here's my 2 cents:

A good seasonal pick..

I've not been able to get this song outta my head lately..

a generally inspired and amazing song..

and just about as mellow as it gets, this side of Brian Eno ;]

there's a lot of songs that hit me really hard that have no lyrics or lyrics that don't seem like they should.. like i relate to things and hear things that normally might mean something different. i tried to pick songs that i relate to most that can be interpreted easily.

i suppose i can add this one too, for some reason i didn't want to.. but i relate to these lyrics as they are a whole lot.

The Gael from The Last of the Mohicans

Dead Reckoning by Clint Mansell

To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra

Rootless Tree by Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan Live at Abbey Road
(explicit language (one word repeated))
It is worth mentioning that this very bitter song is sung by the people in the relationship which was the impetus for the song itself. Also I have unconfirmed reports that Lisa Hannigan is in fact an angel.

In reverence to other posters I'll stop there but I could go on and on ad infinitum
