A Florida cop has been placed on administrative leave for tasing a 62 year old woman in the back for absolutely no reason.

They were arresting someone when she walks up to see who it was they were arresting. The officers tell her to get back and as she is getting back he just tases her nonchalantly like its no big deal.

This is the attitude of so many cops, respect my authority or I will hurt you period. wtf kind of threat is this 62 year old woman? She probably just wants to know if its her people being arrested.

The tasing is at about the 240 mark

Florida police officer has place been on paid administrative leave after cell phone video showed him using a Taser to stun a 62-year-old African-American woman in the back as she was walking away.

In a press conference held at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo announced that Officer Terry Mahan had been placed on leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

That's the kind of police behaviour that starts riots.

Shame they will never learn, when the community kicks off, I will have no sympathy.

I say this as an ex police officer.

CX.

And then they arrest her.. SCUM
I would have been screaming mad if I was one of those people.
Hell, I even would have been yelling to the cop,
"Got you on camera!! Good luck charging her with interfering and sweeping it under the rug!"

I'm sure the outcome of the internal investigation will show that this cop did nothing wrong and was in fear for his life.

But...but...she was vicious BH. He had to defend himself. It was scary the way she turned around and walked away.

Don't be surprised if he files a workman's compensation claim after he gets put back on regular duty, you know, for a mental nervous disorder because of all the fear he has about going back out into the 'mean streets'.
Worst part... I am not kidding.

But you can see the people closing in on the officers from both sides.

That woman clearly could have avoided the whole scene but decided she wanted to walk right into or through it.

One officer clearly tells her to stay back or she is going to jail.

At that point the camera cleverly pans right and keeps her of screen, at which point she is probably continuing towards the officer. The officer that eventually tasers heris seen approaching her. We don't know what he said. Perhaps he told her she was under arrest for not complying with the original officers demand to stay back?

Lets say she was told to stop and she continues walking toward the gathering crowd, If it was you behind her would you go "hands on" and risk hand to hand combat with her? allow her to disregard your order to stop and walk away? or use a non lethal device to stop her?

At the end of the video there were at least 6 police vehicles there. Why? Because the crowd was growing and probably prone to violence.

I'm saying it is the disrespectful attitudes of the people that create a lot of the police brutal actions, not all of it, but throw in the chance of mob mentality and violence and that requires additional police assets.

Then insult is added to injury when she is arrested.

I know that we shouldn't assume all cops are brutal, ignorant thugs, but I just can't give the benefit of the doubt to any of them any longer. Which cops are the good guys? They all look the same to me, given that none of the good cops stand up and proclaim this type of brutality for what it is.

No, I thought the same thing for a bit. But I think those folk were a bit wiser then me. There was no reason to antagonize those guys further. They would have been up into the photographers face so fast who knows what might have gone down after that.

Disturbing. I live in the country, and Mcmansions have popped up here and there. The folks next door pay someone to mow and trim their 9 acre front lawn. I'm more laid back. Yes, I have chickens. The neighbors kept calling the sheriff when my rooster crowed at 4 am. We found a nice home for Mr. Roo. Neighbors didn't like it when we got a goat. My chickens or goat could commit an infraction, and a human (me) could end up Tasered. The deputy has been very nice about it. Nevertheless, I will be moving soon.

I certainly don't support what the officer did, but I also think the woman should have been minding her own business. No one wants to have someone breathing down their neck while they are arresting someone, no to mention if that person gets in the way, suspect gets away or harms the one that got involved? Yikes.
I hope the officer gets into trouble for what he did. But I also hope that the female learned a valuable lesson... One that she should have learned when she was a child, "mind your own damn business."

LEO's can game the system and laugh about it. They frequently do. I spend a good deal of time on their FB sites.

It breaks down like this. They are authoritarians. Ridicule is the greatest weapon against an authoritarian. That's why they have such an emotional response to someone walking away.

It's the ridicule that they see as the threat with every fiber of their being, not the person.

I don't believe the US constitution allows them to legally protect their ego from harm. But they game the system and it's de facto law now. They just have to say they are afraid. IMO they should be introduced to true fear.

Really you would not choose hand to hand combat with a 62 year old woman lol you would just tase her ?

God I hope you are not a cop.

Bunch of lazy white pigs being to lazy to even do their job! To discriminate and disrespect any colored person. That's what the mf-police is all about.

And for this reason I will never ever voluntary visit the US!

Apparently:

Tallahassee police officer says he had to tase 62 y/o woman walking away from him in the back, she "caused me to take my focus off of one of the arrestees and engage her."

Well, that's all just fine then. She caused him to take his focus off an arrestee! Seriously, WTF!

She had her back to him and was walking away. So where is the threat? Where is the justification?

What a coward, just like all the other cowards in uniform these days that think they can do what they want and are protected by their police buddies. On the plus side, they get a paid vacation as well.

What video were you watching? The one that is posted does not show a growing crowd.

The woman was walking away as directed, but was still electrocuted.

Respect is earned. Police can demand it all they want, but things like this just erodes the trust you demand even further.

I say raise the intelligence criteria for law enforcement and start testing for steroids. Cops need to start earning their badges.
