Sydney UFO today, 18/9/14

Hey guys.
Did any one here see the ufo above Sydney Australia today? Or hear the reports on the radio?

I'm sure we will be getting pics and video soon as 1000's of people would have seen it.

I find the reports of it being a drone hard to believe.

Could you be a little bit more specific? Did you hear the report, or did somebody just tell you about it? Did you see it? How recent today was this?

ETA: Where did you hear it stated that it was a drone? Sorry for all the questions, lol, I'm doing a search but haven't turned up anything; could be too early still.

I will say though, without getting a good look at it, there's no telling that it was not a drone. Bearing in mind scubagravy's comment too.

The images I saw of it do appear to be a weather balloon at significant altitude. That said, there are apparently a handful of witnesses who claim it was stationary for over two hours in spite of a decent wind.

Well the "stationary" part can be explained unless they had an anemometer up at the same altitude that could accurately clock the wind speed in the same plane of the atmosphere the "object" was inhabiting.

There may have been little or no wind up "there" in spite of what was blowing at sea level, which is where Sydney lies (some of it's coastline is submergent much like New Orleans, LA in the U.S.).

Either way, nice find and please do keep us apprised.

Hi all, I live in Sydney myself. Although I didn't see anything I found this thread on another site that has what the poster claims to be photos of the UFO from today.

I just heard it on the radio, then a mate from Sydney confirmed it. From his description I didn't think it sounded like a drone.

I was expecting pics and video of this thing as it was apparently stationed, very high and not moving for well over two hours.

Someone must have had a chance to get some nice pictures of it from a high-end camera.

I thought the same thing. And when asked about weather balloons one of the reply comments was,

Nope ..... stayed stationery in the sky for 2 hours then moved in a northerly direction - against the wind. Wind is 15-25km/h at ground level presently

Just throwing that out there for the experts lol.

No it was mid morning Australian time, about 9am I believe.

Looks like it was reported on more than one radio show.

I'm wondering why the back ground is black in the video, 9am in Sydney is not dark.
I couldn't see anything worth while in the video, hope more videos come along.

Hi folks. Just joined the site because I wanted to share the photos I took today over western Sydney.

Photos were taken from Carlingford looking south - southwest. Object about 10o'clock high.

Hard to tell size and height but judging by the planes, it was higher then them taking off from Mascot.

Biggest fail was not getting some zoomed out shots.

This object was in the air for over 2 hours. I saw it from Carlingford, Lane Cove and North Parramatta. I didn't see it dissappear.

I heard on the radio they said it was a drone. Must be some cute technology; just a sphere, no wings, motors or rotors and PERFECTLY still. Not even a wobble.

There will be many more photos of this to come out as it was all over the radio.
