The Illuminati gets blamed/credited with a lot of powerful history, but not all may know where the term came from. It is possible that Robert Anton Wilson knew the following fact before he popularized the term, but maybe not. In any case, the term goes back to the Etruscans. One Etruscan term for "sacred society" is alumnathe. The term is thought to be pronounced AH LOOM EN AH TEE. You'll find a brief mention in Wikipedia under "Etruscan mythology":

A special magistrate, the cechase, looked after the cecha or rath, sacred things. Every man, however, had his religious responsibilities, which were expressed in an alumnathe or slecaches, a sacred society. No public event was conducted without the netsvis, the haruspex, or his female equivalent, the nethsra, who would read the bumps on the liver of a properly sacrificed sheep. We have a model of a liver made of bronze, whose religious significance is still a matter of heated debate, marked into sections which perhaps are meant to explain what a bump in that region would mean. Divination through haruspicy is a tradition originating from the Fertile Crescent.

Wikipedia: Etruscan Mythology

As you can tell, the term sounds like illumunati. So, there is an historical basis for the term before the Bavarians used it, and may have had a connection to esoteric knowledge. There is not much else known about this possible connection so if you know more about it, please speak up!

Two things, the Etruscan word you are reading is in its Anglicized form. Secondly, the pronunciation you gave is from a website with no links and is the only one claiming that is the correct pronunciation.

I call them the wicked as the Bible refers to them.
Their biggest secret is that they know God exists, but
keeping the facts to themselves easily divides the
masses. If you call them the iluminati someone will say
" The Iluminati broke up" as if they were a rock band
or something. It's very naive to believe there is no source
for the evils in the world. We live by their system of currency
and we're to stupid to realise we don't even need it.

"For the love of money is the root of all evil"

There in lay the key to uprooting them and usurping their power
forever. They know God exists but they hate him and they are
at war with him. They hate us because God saw to it that we might
be redeemed. But the elite are still hoping for that " Ancient promise"
that thru science and Satan they "Will be like God". But the time is
short.

That's pretty much how I see it!

Yeah, it is called 'man' and to blame it on fictitious entities or groups only prevents us from holding ourselves accountable and then doing something to rectify the problem.

As far as I know the iluminati would be made up of men.
Not to play at words with you but....

Look up the term on Google Books: 'Reading the Past: Ancient Writing from Cuneiform to the Alphabet' edited by J. T. Hooker. Appendix 1 gives clues about pronunciation (clues but not certainties).

We are all part of the problem, not just some fictitious, easily scapegoated group.

I cannot view the appendix in full, additionally, it is about pronouncing personal names, the word you mentioned is an abstraction and not a personal name.

Etruscan is a notoriously difficult language to speak and I would seriously doubt anyone who claims to be able to do so with any great modicum of accomplishment. Particularly and unsourced website as linked above.

I wish it were simply the machinations of the simple human defect known as greed.

It would not cause me to obsessively research and seek answers.

I've had too many metaphysical experiences that cannot be explained in terms of my classical Newtonian or Christian education.

For a while I truly thought I may have been losing my mind but I came to find out there are many other people who have also had inexplicable experiences.

My first experience involved casually driving by some woods that I've seen a hundred times but then, in a flash, I got some kind of download of a memory of seeing my civil war era funeral on that same spot.

In a millisecond, I had what would have taken at least five minutes of careful observation to grasp.

It was a cold autumn day. My widow was grieving over my casket. My ghost stood on the hill above the seen wearing a union officer's uniform though it was Virginia.

In an instant, I knew there was far, far more to this world than I ever thought. My life was changed in that moment. I knew there was life after death, this world is a school, we get many lives, with many lessons and there are indeed other dimensional beings all around us.

I think religion has been used to keep us in the dark so to speak. It has been used to make us believe that things are black and white. Good versus bad.

I know its not so simple. I believe people are waking up to the idea that there are very complex rules that govern this reality and its simply not black and white.

Its not simple greed that motivates the Illuminati. That would get very boring very quickly. For such exceptionally intelligent people, there comes a point that simply racking up more gold, treasure, whatever, would be too easy.

The point is without people being, greedy, violent Satan worshipping psychopaths, life would be boring.

It would take many more lives maybe thousands to learn the lessons of just one life with the Illuminati "assholes."

Maybe they made a deal, so to speak. In return for racking up a crap load of karma in this life, which will require enormous forgiveness on our parts, they would get, sex, money, power, etc.

All I'm saying is thanks for the experience. I forgive them. I forgive every Illuminati asshole on this site, every poseur, sock puppet, bitch ass NSA punk.

I take back my power through forgiveneas and awareness that its all been part of the game.

I win. Get it?

Any BTW, EF You Kay the NSA, just because it feels good to say it.

This is exactly the point I am making. It is not a group of 'vilient Satan worshipping psychopaths' causing all the world's ills. It is all of us, in some way, not doing enough to make it better.
