With the world so focused on Ebola, that is apparently heading for the US, I lost track of Chikungunya, which is already stateside. Is there any big news about this plague or is it old news now...?

The Centers for Disease Control says this week there have been nearly 800 confirmed cases of chikungunya in the U.S. – 11 of those have been in South Carolina.


Chikungunya Still Being Reported In America

This is from Kingston, Jamaica. As of an hour ago, when the article was posted:



KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Opposition Spokesman on Health Dr Kenneth Baugh says that the relevant authorities including the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the Ministry of Health are not taking the growing outbreak of Chikungunya seriously. According to Dr Baugh, the number of cases being quoted by the Health Ministry are not credible.

I also wonder what the latest thate of MERS is... never heard of it again after Ebola hit the news
