Pandemic Writing Contest [PAN2014](WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!)

Good afternoon members of ATS.

With the end of summer near, and the word "Ebola" becoming part of our everyday vernacular, it is time to undertake a new writing contest based on a Pandemic theme.


Rules Of Entry

The contest will run from Tuesday, 9/2/14 to Wednesday, 10/1/14 at Midnight. Any submissions after that date will be disqualified. A period of voting after the closing of the contest will also be provided.

5 days of voting.

All T&C's Apply

All entries MUST include [PAN2014]in the title.

All entries must be linked in this thread. You must include [writer] [non-writer] in your submission post within this thread.

There is no minimum or maximum character count.

1 Single Submission Per Member

There will be 3 winners among members who already have "Writer" status. They will be judged separately from all other entries based on stars and flags received.

1st Place -- 5 Applause & next contest theme choice.**
2nd Place -- 3 Applause
3rd Place -- 1 Applause

There will also be 3 winners from the non-writer category who will receive the following:

1st Place -- 3 Applause & Writer Status
2nd Place -- 2 Applause & Writer Status
3rd Place -- 2 Applause

Scoring

Flags will be worth 2 points each.
Stars will be worth 1 point each.

*Stars for subsequent posts (ie. additions to the story) will be worth .5 stars.

So dust off that languishing zombie story, or finish up that Swine Flu piece you started, and get those entries in!

I enjoy a good contagion story. I must ponder, and see what twisted thangs emerge. Thanks for hosting this competition.

So do I just post the story here in the replies? Or it's a separate thing? Sorry, new at this.

I believe that you post it as a "New Topic" with its own Title - but must include the "[PAN2014]" in the title/topic line.
I'm not certain - believe you post it in the Short Stories Forum...

You have it right. Stories are posted in this forum as a new thread, with [PAN2014] somewhere in the title. For example, if I wrote a story called "Home of the Brave", I would write the title as "Home of the Brave [PAN2014]".

The reason I ask is in the title of this thread its one way but in the op it's another, just want to make sure it's not a typo.

Or perhaps sitting on our collective duffs, sipping fruity drinks and awaiting inspiration.

Now sitting in a smoke-filled parlor playing billards while discussing world events would be a classic excuse!

Well...that's just irritating! I've been writing a on-going story in the Short Stories forum for a bit along these lines. From what I gather, I cannot restart it and just must continue on. Oh well, a day early and still a dollar short. LOL

Still stuck on how to continue it though, the spark has seemed to have gone out, though I still think about it. Maybe it's still an ember? Just need that kick in the pants.

Working on something... different...

Just have to get a spare minute to sit down and put thoughts to... well whatever it is these days.

Expect something in a day or two, in the meantime we need a wake up call for all those wanting writer status...

I had written a short story about this very subject and as of this thread have gone back and re-wrote the story to add and clean up a bit..
