As for your previous replies i have ignored they come under the heading " You doth protest to much"
You keep repeating yourself over and over again. You are a gun fanatic and nothing that anyone says is going to change your opinion.
As for my last reply to you............maybe those are issues that you want to avoid. Then again, maybe you can accept them for the horrors that they are.

No, you Ignored them because they pointed out a very large flaw in your premise--a flaw that you are unable to address, so you ignore it.

Ok clever clogs, what would that flaw be ?
The only flaw i see is that i disagree with about everything you have stated.

That some of those very nations you posted who are so much more dangerous than the UK also have stricter gun control than the UK, which disrupts your illogical premise that gun control equals safety.

Records suggest that children can handle firearms safely. How many firearms are shot on a daily basis around the United States by children? Now, how many in the past five years have been killed, or killed someone?

With that being said, it is stupid to hand a child a firearm like that. It'd be one thing if she was shooting a little pea-shooter rifle, but an Uzi?

I'll refrain from the rather obtuse name calling of the dead.

At one time a nine year old was given a Barbi Doll.
How times have changed.............for the worse.

Actually, nine year olds would be out hunting for dinner for hundreds of years before Barbie dolls were invented. Methinks a little knowledge of history would be helpful.

Sounds like a backward society to me
When kids in the U.K. wanted something for dinner, they went to the shops.

Ah, you are one of those bliss ninnies who thinks meat comes from shops.
That explains everything,

guns are a big part of society in the USA and i dont think anyone is saying "teach them nothing".

but a hunting gun is not an assault gun. a shot gun or rifle is not even in the same hood as a machine gun like an uzi, it cant even see it from the assault weapon hood from were it is.

Really, my heart goes out to that girl. She will never be the same as before that split second. No matter how she tries to cope.

My sons are both in their 30s now, and played their share of video games. A couple years ago my older son and I were talking on the phone about the increasing amount of increased firepower available to citizens. He said, “Mom, the young males who play video games have grown up with weaponry of increasing firepower, and they want to go out and buy the real stuff.” I hadn’t thought of that one before. Gun porn video games played by thumb killers end up as marketing tools for arms manufacturers.

I suspect there are parents out there who would not want their children watching sex porn videos, yet don’t think anything about the gun porn out there. “Free love” was deemed unwanted in our society decades ago, yet, somehow, “free gun” is becoming acceptable. To the point at the moment, where a family (and other adults at that gun amusement park[?!]) thinks letting a young child operate an Uzi is fun, entertainment. Yeah, free sex can be fun, until you end up with unwanted consequences. And now I hope we’re waking up to the idea that free gun has some unwanted consequences, too.

Adults are failing our children. Time for some adjustment.

This has nothing to do with liberties, gun rights, or anything else other than an incredibly stupid gun instructor allowed with his piss-poor training techniques to allow a young girl to try and fire an Uzi at his range. There is absolutely no reason for someone that age to be learning to fire an automatic weapon like an Uzi. STUPIDITY. There is NO POINT. She isn't going to need to fire an automatic weapon.. probably in her lifetime. It was pointless, and fatal to the moron, and probably a permanent and terrible scar for the poor girl.

Go preach your gun rights somewhere else. This shouldn't be used by EITHER side to try and gain leverage for their cause. If you feel this was just and smart to try to teach a 9 year old girl how to shoot an Uzi, you are simply WRONG.

I'm sorry, but every time I read the title of this thread, I laugh out loud.

Seriously, he should win a Darwin Award.

If you don't teach respect for the gun, what it can do, and how to operate one safely, you will have accidents.

In tandem, if you don't teach respect for sex, what it can do, and how to approach it safely, you will have lasting consequences as well.

Individual responsibility, maturity, and experience are key to both.

When dealing with children one must fully understand what his/her child is capable of. I would never put one of my more higher powered weapons in front of my daughter as a first gun shoot. I would start with paint ball, air guns, .22s and the like.

The most powerful weapon I own is a 76 year old Soviet upgraded Mosin Nagant bolt action rifle. It is a beast of a weapon and I intend to use it for hunting and long range target shooting when I am done building her up. Even so, I would never let my kid use that weapon until she is experienced enough and old enough to physically handle it.

In a similar token, I am not going to be a "shotgun" dad. I'm not going to try to control my daughters sex life. I am going to arm her with the tools of self respect and the knowledge of what is out there good and bad and let her make those decisions for herself.

It's about educating children on the sanctity of life, the realities of the world-both ugly and beautiful-and to have respect for those things and situations which command prudence and common sense.

What happened with this little girl is a complete and utter failure of parental foresight, guidance, and prudence. It should never have happened, and the instructor himself should have refused because HE had the experience and the knowledge to know when it doesn't seem right. He failed in the exercise of his experience and he paid for it with his life.

Some facts to digest..

Children and guns by the numbers:

18: The number of people age 24 and younger killed by firearms in the US each day
55: The percentage of US homes with children and firearms in which one or more weapons are kept in an unlocked place
1.6: The number, in millions, of children 18 and under who are estimated to be living in homes with loaded and unlocked firearms
72: The percentage of parents who say they have spoken with their children about the hazards of guns

Someone under 24 is a "child?" C'mon. Bull# is bull#. A 20 year old criminal who gets shot by the police in commission of a crime is neither a child nor a "victim." Do not get your "information" from a propaganda source.

And every pro gun rights person in thus thread has said it was a stupid and irrisponsible act, so you are wrong. The only people using this tragedy for political purposes are the anti-gun rights people.

See, this is exactly why we need to teach kids how to use a firearm early, so they know how to use one safely!

Oh wait...

That's stupid. I call it propaganda because I'm familiar with it. Are you so ignorant that you are going to consider a 24 year old a child?

The only victim is the girl !
He deserves to be dead !
And her parents want jailing !
USA gun law is so stupid !
If this was another country all the Americans would be saying how sick it is !

He deserves to be dead?

He may have been a damn fool for letting a little girl operate a fully automatic weapon with minimal training but no one deserves death over a mistake like that.

The man had friends and family as well.

Can we make his death not in vain and take it as a lesson given with sacrifice?

Praise him, for this is the next big push.

I am ashamed of that response, it upsets me extensively.

Ah the good old days... Here we go when I was nine or ten I got my first rifle. It was a single shot over under 410/22LR.
My parents would of never given me an automatic of my own at that age.

After following this report all day, the only people I know that think this is a good idea, are the gun lobbyists. I am suspicious that one of them is on this site. No compromise, even for the safety of the kids from stupid adults.

Yeah, that's a bit over the top.
Girls that age should use single action revolvers.

Sorry to say, but she is lucky the recoil didn't put her eye out. ( and in good taste will not refer to a "Christmas Story"). Even though I did. Jeez what a state I'm in tonight.

Imagine the psychological pain that girl is going through and will be burdened with the rest of her life.

Her parents should be arrested, imo.
