On December 6, 1989, a madman entered Montreal's School of Polytechnics and opened fire on students, shouting "I hate feminists!". He went into classrooms and separated the guys from the girls before firing his gun at the latter. Fourteen female students died. He then turned his semi-automatic on himself and committed suicide.

MacKiller has started a thread explaining why men wear white ribbons in remembrance of that day. I thought it was important to post this other thread. I'm not advocating anything, nor pushing an agenda, but merely remembering what happened 15 years ago. Because it may have happened in Canada, but it's an issue which calls to the soul of every human being.

I'm also posting this to reiterate that as a man and as a human being, I am taking a firm and unwavering stance against all violence done to women.

I'm glad to see this post, Otts, as well as the one by MacKiller.

At my school there are several things going on, as well as morning classes being excused in remembrance of this tragedy.
It's a sad day.
