Through history there have been many (big) quakes there (Peru)

en.wikipedia.org...

including this whopper in the south:

The 1868 Arica earthquake occurred on 13 August 1868, near Arica, then part of Peru, now part of Chile, at 21:30 UTC. It had an estimated magnitude between 8.5 and 9.0. A tsunami (or multiple tsunamis) in the Pacific Ocean was produced by the earthquake, which was recorded in Hawaii, Japan and New Zealand.[2]

The sad news is that although there are no major towns or cities around the epicenter, there most probably are many, many small villages.
The help that they need will be difficult to get to them due to the mountainous region (land slides, wash-outs, etc.

That is pretty crazy and not 24 hours after the one hit California. Here in Oklahoma things have picked up drastically over the last few years. I'm just glad we are not getting any big ones.

Hi kaaer, yes, Oklahoma, I am a bit concerned for you guys as far as the amount of activity you've been having down there. (man made?)
Hope you don't mind if I unabashedly link you to a thread I created :

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Either way, this one is as natural as natural can be. You guys, on the other hand, have a bit of a problem down there and I hope things settle

Don't mind at all

Things have gotten pretty shaky around here lol (pun intended)

I really hope that there is some sort of relief going on for the people that got hit my this 7.0. Regardless if it was a very unpopulated area i'm sure there were people affected.

These big quakes could have any connection with the Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano? There are having some stronger eq's after the volcano started it's ''eruption''

Probably not, there seems to be a 7 (globally) every two weeks or so. But you never know!
