Could could could could. That's all i am seeing here.

Show me one weather model that actually turned out to be accurate and I might care, otherwise this is nothing more than more doom porn.

Forget the long forecast models that's not what we're talking about here.., yes generally they're always of wrong but when you throw volcanic eruptions in Iceland in the mix then we nearly always have colder than average winters

Volcanic eruptions have been linked to global coolings in the past and many feel it was responsible for "The Little Ice Age" when the themes used to freeze over, although I don't think anybody's predicting this but I thought I'd add it for cool factor not doom porn

Ah more doom porn from the Express and that berk powell

ignore it they make a living flogging crap like this to the gullible muppets that buy
the DE.

IF the volcano blows it MAY lower temps in the northern hemisphere for a while
IF the magnitude of the eruption is large enough or of long enough duration
both little details that powell n co have no idea at all about.

even the Icelandic experts cannot make an accurate prediction of this so until we have ACCURATE data
from someone one the ground who knows what they are talking about ignore the guff in the tabloids.

Its ok we are British, If we survived the blitz we can survive the volcano. All we need is a nice cup of tea. besides we like moaning about the weather.

Funny enough, I had a Dream the other night that it was going to get extremely cold, either this year or soon in the Future! I should have posted about that dream but didn't.

And I can't remember anything else about the dream, just that it was bludy cold.

From what I can gather this is the worst case scenario , which is relatively unlikely? ( maybe taking the msm line here a little) .... So it should be ok....

the video refers to the laki eruption which was a much much larger event than
what is happening now.

if a laki scale event was brewing the signs would be much more widespread
with earthquakes and volcanic uplift measured across the whole length of the fissure region.

Of course I did ,however you can understand my confusion due to the video title and the language barrier .. However I am no volcanologist and the title of the video is misleading...

The two volcanoes do have a similar potential to cause havoc:

Is Bárđarbunga particularly active or dangerous? About 8,000 years ago it generated the largest eruption anywhere in the world for the past 10,000 years.

National Geographic

So I can see why the you tube poster lumped them under the same roof...

Laki has a 23km rift, Bardarbunga 200 km rift, so Bardarbunga has far greater worse case potential. Laki erruption lasted 8 months so Bardarbunga might be only a precursor of something much larger. Hopefully it won't go berserk but volcanic activity has been occurring over 20+ km range.

Kristín Vogfjörð, research director at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, says that the current seismic activity at Bárðarbunga is many times more powerful than any on record for the site. “It’s very powerful,” she says. For comparison she notes that thousands of quakes have been measured at Bárðarbunga in the past week, but in the Gjálpar eruption in 1996 they were only a few hundred. … “While this is going on, it may never reach the surface. But we still need to keep an eye on it because the volume of magma is incredible,” she adds. …”There is no indication that it’s moving further up than that. But if it were to happen, it would happen very quickly,” Kristín states.

There is a correlation between solar minima beginning and major volcanic eruptions in Iceland. It happened early in the Dalton and Sporer Minima and helped plunge the earth into years of colder weather thanks to the volcanic effects and lowered solar activity slowing down any recovery.

Right now, it's too early to tell if we are entering another solar minimum, but this current solar cycle is the weakest they've seen since the last solar minimum with the next solar cycle projected currently to be weaker than this one.

So, we could be seeing a shift toward Dickensian Christmases in London again complete with a big BOOM! in Iceland to get it all going.
