A conservative blog, thegatewaypundit, made its rounds here on ATS regarding the Ferguson case and this video brings to light that the blogger was full of crap, and Fox news.

Shocking, I know.

"Earlier this week, Fox News reported that Darren Wilson, the Ferguson police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old unarmed Michael Brown, suffered a fractured eye socket following his confrontation with the teenager. The reporter, Hollie McKay, cited a “source close to the [police] department’s top brass” as providing that information to the network.

However, on CNN Thursday, Don Lemon reported that Wilson did not suffer a fractured or broken eye socket and was rather treated at the hospital for swelling around his face and eyes. Noting that that specific injury has not been reported by CNN, “but is making its way around other media organization,” Lemon cited a “source close to the investigation” who told CNN that Wilson’s x-rays came back negative for a fractured eye socket.

“That source says it is not true, at all, he did not have a torn eye socket,” Lemon said. “Unequivocally.”

If your source is a dubious story from CNN with no actual link to it, and just cites an unnamed source "close to the investigation", this is no better than the story you are trying to debunk.

However, this story does confirm that the officer did have a facial injury, and that's all it does.

No busted eye socket?
So a good ole cop beating is OK? - As long as you don't bust that eye socket.

It's getting harder and harder to defend this "Gentle Giant"

Hi Fission

However, this story does confirm that the officer did have a facial injury
Is there any evidence for this? Just wondering if I've missed something.

Even if its true its possible he had the swelling before the incident with brown.

And Fox news is continuing to lie right now.

Foxnews is reporting the video is from 2012, but he clearly mentions the Bundy ranch (situation in Nevada) and that issue was going to spread to Texas and Southern MO 35:25 more lies from FOXNEWS.

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis County Police chief says an officer who had been assigned to patrols in Ferguson has been suspended while the department reviews a 2012 video in which the officer calls himself "a killer" and makes incendiary comments about religion and U.S. political leaders.

foxnews

And the info on when this video was made:

According to CNN and the Oath keepers group it was posted last April.

The president of the Oath Keepers' St. Louis/St. Charles chapter, Duane Weed, told CNN that Page was a guest speaker and is not a member of his group. A link to the video of his speech was posted to the local chapter's Facebook page on April 23 -- a day after it happened -- along with text that highlighted what Page had to say about the dangers of private contractors in war zones.

CNN

This doesn't excuse them (CNN) in any way because there all lying to us.

I really dislike "news entertainment"

The lie inherently questions the entire motive for lying. putting the police under the light.

Have they arrested the people responsible for "leaking" private medical records ?

Or did the officer sign a "release form" ?

Hmmm.

unless it's all conjecture and speculation of course.

That was pretty much confirmed already though. Just the extent of how bad has been questioned.

This does prove one thing though which is until actual Proof is given for any particular claim made by either side, it is likely to be false or exaggerated so we shouldn't trust it.

It also proves another thing. Something most of us already know. That is all news sources are nothing but agenda peddling bullsh*ters and can't be trusted either.

I don't like the MSM as much as the next ATS'er, the point of this story is that a blogger just made a story up that was loosely based on some facts to support his agenda and many people ran with it as if it was fact. The problem with these stories, any stories involving gov't, is we're always at the mercy of the dubious unnamed source.

Is this CNN source a liar as well? Who the hell knows but in time the actual facts will come out.

since we are playing this game....do you have any evidence he didn't ? for all we know he felt bad about the shooting and touched himself up....this is what happens when people start jumping to conclusions before all the facts are out

For all we know he could have thrown open the door and it bounced off of them back into his face, once injured he knew he could kill with impunity.

gotta love the videos of the self righteousness of Hannity and O'reilly, next month? they will be preaching about overreaching government again.

Gosh I thought that was what all political entities do especially the progressive communist.. Besides didn't Hillary say that ?

I heard yesterday on the radio where a cop was being interviewed about the case.. The cop said the officer's jaw was fractured in two places and the eye socket had been damaged.. The waters are very muddy with regards to his actual injuries and all we can do is listen to others at this stage....

Simple; if he was punched or attacked by the 6'4" 300 pound kid... the kid got what he deserved.. Hopefully the actual truth will come out... We have to be careful with Sharpton being in the area... he was the cheer leader about the black girl (Tawana Brawley) being raped by some kkk white boys (they even accused a police officer and a prosecuting attorney) a while back that turned into a media circus and was proven to be a total hoax...

The news reports at the time, in the late 1980s, were horrific. Tawana Brawley, a 15-year-old African-American girl from the New York City area, was said to have been abducted and repeatedly raped by six white men. She was found with “KKK” written across her chest, a racial epithet on her stomach and her hair smeared with feces. She was so traumatized, according to reports, that at the hospital she answered yes-or-no questions by blinking her eyes. Making the crime even more vile, if that were possible, she and her lawyers later claimed that two of the rapists were law enforcement officials.

And about six months after the hoax, Ms. Brawley’s former boyfriend told Newsday that she had invented the allegations, apparently to avoid a beating by her mother’s boyfriend after running away from home for four days.

www.nytimes.com/2013/...the-tawana-brawley-rape-scandal.html
There are those who wish to stir up some kind of racial altercation by misstating or just plain lying.. hopefully most won't fall for it and will wait until someone we can trust makes an actual report... The problem is who are you gonna trust in the mean time ?

It doesn't even confirm an Injury, it just says swelling to the face. Your post, is exactly the same treatment as Hannity and Co, taken the next step further..just more hearsay statements, I mean, come on! you can go on with this stuff forever. So let's deal with reported 'facts'. Michael Brown's body was 35 feet away from the patrol car with six bullets in his body, two of those to the head according to the autopsy. Now, it's my turn to add the 'BS' only I don't actually think carefully coutured spin like Hannity and Co, and since there is not so much MS talk about it, which bullet killed Michael Brown given that he was 35 feet from the patrol car? Meh! I'll give you two guesses, the fifth or the sixth one...all the rest might have eventually. Sorry man, it doesn't wash with me.
I will add that the 'Swollen face' story was in The Guardian' nine days ago I think, and apparently came from or was acknowledged by the police chief Jackson, who also said he didn't know how the swelling came about. This was a big issue with the Highway Patrol group who took over as with other things,
www.theguardian.com...
