One of my family members just had to go through this process because they are now old enough to qualify for medicare. He was born in Peru, and this is
still how things work there. I guess maybe if you are filing a 1040, claiming the kid as a dependent, you might get scrutinized, but so long as you
stick to the story that it is your partner's kid to another man, they can't compel you to take a DNA test unless you try to claim welfare benefits
for the kid. This is probably what I would do were I in a multinational relationship. Most countries don't give automatic citizenship to people born
outside of their country, so there is literally no benefit to having the kid here in the US if you can choose to do it otherwise.
