The Maginot line was heavily fortified and 1/4 as long as the U.S. Mexico border and was very quickly breached.


Actually the Maginot Line was by passed. The Germans put just enough in front of it to keep them occupied and ended up taking it with their main force from the rear.

The US doesn't need another Maginot Line as it would be a waste of money.

What the US does need to do is enforce it's laws and stop making up new ones on the fly to satisfy illegals feelings.

Personally, I think that the US should apply the individuals own countries laws to them. Mexico seriously frowns upon illegal immigrants and the punishment is far more severe than the US. Some countries illegal immigrants when arrested are never seen again.

That alone might be a deterrent.

The problem with your statement is that he has the authority to send in the National guard. This is not questionable... he has the authority. The National Guard falls under the authority of the Governor.
