Richards deployed to Afghanistan three times as a Marine Corps sniper. He was wounded by shrapnel on his second deployment in 2010, when an improvised explosive device was detonated near him while on a foot patrol. After undergoing six surgeries to repair wounds to his throat, he agreed to return for a third tour.
It was during that deployment that he and three fellow Marines were filmed urinating on the dead Taliban soldiers. - See more at: www.opposingviews.com...

He was a sniper, trained to kill, he was taught to hate so that he could kill, what do we think it is like out there? Do we think they are all loving in their destruction?

Does anyone know how he died?

To me, this shows that he was pretty messed up. He doesn't consider peeing on the person wrong, but he thinks the person that released the video was a traitor and a coward who was trying to destroy the Marines... Dude, if you hadn't done it, there wouldn't have been a video to release.

“It was really devastating and we didn't know that it'd get in the hands of a traitor in my opinion. Not a traitor but a coward as well that would potentially try to destroy us and the Maine Corps by releasing it selfishly,” Richards later said in an interview. - See more at: www.opposingviews.com...

I'd probably do worse than piss on the dude. It was WAR. WAR isn't pretty, F***ed up # happens. And I'm pretty sure pissing on some dude who was just trying to kill you isn't that big of a deal.

It is shameful how some Americans do not support this man for his service. He fought and was wounded in direct combat in a foreign land so we would be safer here in America. War does funny things to people, some are terrified, some enjoy it, some are disgusted by it, reactions to the stress of battle and how they handle it is different for everyone. I cant say I would do the same thing he did, but I certainly wouldn't have turned him in. Maybe he pissed on the Taliban fighter because he wasn't worth a sh*t !!!! God rest his soul.

He dishonored his corps and encouraged enemy resistance. He still hands head and shoulders above those who didn't volunteer, but after accomplishing his mission he turned around and undermined his own accomplishment. I don't fault him for his reaction to the stress of combat, I fault his fellow Marines for not having his back and helping him deal with those stresses in the disciplined manner for which Marines are famous.

I am noway taking sides, but which is worse, pissing on a dead person or pissing on a live person ?

The live person people will laugh about, especially when he grabs your exposed sensitive bits and aggressively aims them back at you.

The dead are no ones enemy anymore, even a Marine will tell you there is one kind of good terrorist... There's just no upside to what was done in this case.

In my experience live people who get pissed on can do very little about it, i suppose pissing on a dead person is like killing him is not enough you have to steel his soul, or perhaps it about making him not human so you dont feel so bad about killing him, as you said there is no upside to it

I guess you've just been peeing on all the right people... or maybe you were still young and adorable last time you tried it. Wouldn't go over too well with anyone who could lift his arms in my neck of the woods though... particularly if those arms were of the 2nd amendment variety, which they probably would be.

the people who justified the action of this marine are indication that something is not right with society..

you cant justify such behaviour even in conflict zone.

what if a police was videotaped urinating on a dead killer in america ? what do you think the reaction will be ?

I agree with you to an extent. It's not right what he did. No matter how much the two sides hate each other, this is just beyond unprofessional. From experience, professionalism is something HUGELY taught in the Marine Corps.

However, the rigors of war can make even the most composed and disciplined do things like this.

Imagine this: for some reason you find yourself in a conflict with a group of men. You have a group of close friends and it's an all out fight. They kill one of your friends as you're killing them. They killed one of your friends. You no longer care about them because you have such a strong hatred towards them for killing your friend. That's pretty much the best way I can describe it for you as to why someone would do something like this.

I understand the scenario you laid out, but the Marines don't get to make such excuses- save that for the national guard. That's what makes a Marine a Marine- the ability to keep doing what he's supposed to be doing under the most extreme stress imaginable, even when everyone around him is being killed.

Of course the corps has lowered its standards more than a little since the war on terror began. I kid you not the guy in the rack above me at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego was a chronic bed wetter. He had to be awakened and escorted to the head every hour on the hour, and he graduated like that, with the bare minimum physical fitness requirements as well (I spent a good part of the crucible dragging that Marine by his pack straps with another of us pushing him from behind).

Mad respect to the real Marines, but shame on the politicians who made it so that no longer means every single person who wears the EGA.

If you really believe that then I have some ocean front property in Nebraska for sale.

How did him killing Afghanis make "Murrrikka" safer?

Honest question, please answer if possible.
