The death toll in Syria's three-year war has eclipsed 170,000 people, one-third of them civilians, a monitoring group says in a new toll.
"Ever since the first casualty of the Syrian revolution was registered on March 18, 2011 in Daraa province, the deaths of 171,509 people have been documented," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in a report released on Thursday. Among the dead were 56,495 civilians, including 9,092 children, according to the toll, which included casualties documented up to July 8 this year.
Jordan, where the Central Intelligence Agency has been covertly training Syrian rebels for more than a year, is reluctant to host an expanded program in what is likely to be a significant step back for Barack Obama. In June, the US president proposed a $500 million (£300m) initiative to train and arm moderate rebels fighting the government of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and al-Qaeda-linked groups. It could signal a larger challenge in finding suitable nations willing to host the training at a time of heightened tensions across much of the Middle East. While US intelligence has not made a formal request to the Jordanian government, the country was widely considered a leading choice to host the training due to its close security relationship with Washington, proximity to Syria and pool of more than 600,000 Syrian refugees. The “Jordan fears Syrian backlash over CIA plan” headlined report said: “US analysts believe that Jordan, led by Abdullah II, who was raised in the UK, educated at Oxford and served in the British Army, fears retaliation from Syria if its territory is used for CIA training".
The US has already increased its military presence in Jordan to around 1,300 soldiers.

I am sure of one thing, if the bodies of the all the dead children from Iraq (500,000+) and Syria (9,000+) were placed on the lawns of the white house the american people would rise as one against the slaughter. Media demonizes the people being slaughtered.

I don't mean to sound...dumb, but are the killers by chance the Syrian rebels/"freedom fighters"? I didn't even know that was still going on, I mean I knew there was trouble but not to this extent Same deal as in Gaza then, it's the poor families who loose their children/parents/siblings etc. and they're the ones that pay the ultimate price at the end of the day...ugh what the f*ck is this world coming too?
In addition: Just chucking in a few articles where ISIS have not only killed Syrian rebels but Syrian soldiers too, does anyone know why they do that? Do they just see everyone who isn't sunni as an enemy?

An individuals personal beliefs are what make up human nature.
To an extreme, it can result in misguided thoughts, of course. But to generalize all religious fanatics as the worlds only problem.. And then to group all other people that adhere to that religion as an extension of that problem..
That is the reason we will always be divided. It's a rigged game. One side is right until they're not.

Its not a game there goal is simple they believe Islam is destined to take over the world like Mohammad said and they believe there version is the only correct version. Thats why they attack other mosques and destroy religious sites.Us gets first shot at them with Iraq if they fail it will be Russians turn with Iran. But sooner or later this will involve every country including China and India.
