Daniel Ellsberg to Keynote 'Hackers Of Planet Earth' Conference (July 20, 2014)

On July 1st a tweet from Cryptome, a digital library of sensitive documents that predates WikiLeaks by a decade, revealed that an attempt to release the remaining NSA documents gathered by Edward Snowden was in the works to "avert a war".

"July is when war begins unless headed off by Snowden full release of crippling intel. After war begins not a chance of release," Cryptome tweeted on its official feed.

"Warmongerers are on a rampage. So, yes, citizens holding Snowden docs will do the right thing," it said.

Just yesterday, July 17th 2014, the world witnessed how a Malaysian airliner carrying 298 people, 108 of whom were world-class experts on HIV/AIDS who were on their way to the 20th International AIDS Conference in Australia ,was shot down over Ukraine. Was this part of a war scheme that is somehow outlined in the documents that Snowden and friends are in possession of? The previous month had Glenn Greenwald, who broke the Edward Snowden story in the summer of 2013, announce that he was planning to release the names of Americans targeted by NSA surveillance.

The man who helped bring about the most significant leak in American intelligence history is to reveal names of US citizens targeted by their own government in what he promises will be the “biggest” revelation from nearly 2m classified files.

Glenn Greenwald, the journalist who received the trove of documents from Edward Snowden, a former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor, told The Sunday Times that Snowden’s legacy would be “shaped in large part” by this “finishing piece” still to come.

Shortly after this announcement Glenn Greenwald personally tweeted the following:

After 3 months working on our story, USG [the United States government] today suddenly began making new last-minute claims which we intend to investigate before publishing

Both the Cryptome tweet and the Greenwald announcement have people wondering on the edge of their seats.

Has this information-release been delayed, or is it going to be announced at the Hackers Of Planet Earth conference on the weekend of July 18th-20th? It was published by 2600: The Hacker Quarterly that "the whistleblower of all whistleblowers", Daniel Ellsberg, is to give the keynote address on July 20th 2014 at this H.O.P.E. conference.

Daniel Ellsberg was the cause of one of the biggest political controversies in the history of the United States when he released the Pentagon Papers in 1971. This top-secret Pentagon study of U.S. government decision-making concerning the Vietnam War was released to various newspapers. When the New York Times was stopped by a Nixon administration court order, Ellsberg leaked the 7,000 pages of documents to the Washington Post and 17 other publications. These revelations clearly showed deceptive practices by the government and played a significant role in changing the views of many Americans - and ultimately changing history.

When Ellsberg turned himself in to face trial for his actions, he said, "I felt that as an American citizen, as a responsible citizen, I could no longer cooperate in concealing this information from the American public. I did this clearly at my own jeopardy and I am prepared to answer to all the consequences of this decision." After a trial which revealed massive corruption and various nefarious plots against Ellsberg, all charges were dismissed.

The parallels to what has been taking place in recent years is striking. We have learned a great deal from the more recent revelations of Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden. Unlike Ellsberg, however, these two have been treated extremely harshly by both the government and the mainstream media. Those journalists who have published the information that was leaked to them have found themselves demonized and even threatened by those in power. It seems that there has never been a more dangerous time for whistleblowers and that information is more restricted than ever.

We are honored that Daniel Ellsberg recognizes the value and importance of the HOPE X conference and it's great to know that he'll be able to speak in person to a whole new generation of individuals who will also shape the direction of the world one day. We can only hope they'll also be ready to stand up for their convictions, no matter the cost.

Is the H.O.P.E. X Conference sponsored by government or intelligence agencies or will they just be outside checking ID and doing facial rec scans? Whoever thought this up, hmmm, probably controlled opposition.

Maybe next we'll see M.A.R.S. X, the Mercenaries, Assassins and Retirement Specialists conference.

I won't be attending either, I'll stick with C.A.K., the Cute Adorable Kittens conference, less chance of being grabbed and firmly placed in a rendition bag LOL

That was last night, just chillin' tonight, nothing going on between the Maples and Oaks and out in the woods you couldn't find a beaver if your life depended on it LOL.

Last night was even more fun ;-) I had to walk about 1/4 mile up a winding 30 degree incline to get to the top of a hill where the party was and then it rained. But what a wild time. Surprisingly for so high up and away from water, there were lots of beavers LOL. Always best to take the pelts home, less chance of getting poison ivy and skitter bites in all the wrong places.
