Great way to play this game again, in another 25-30 yrs.

If the US wants to remove Russia as an enemy...

Open as many cultural exchanges as you can.

Encourage as much Russian -> US education as you can.

Erode the base that gives the leader power. Remove the threat long term.

If there was any kind of problem with the aircraft, it would have been found long before now. They've been flying for over 20 years, and prior to MH370, only three people had ever been killed in accidents on them, and one of those was killed by a vehicle after the accident. They've flown something like 7 million flights since being introduced, with this being the fourth one lost to a crash.

How many missiles they hold 4 or 5? If 4 it looks like it's only missing one. But that's still a missing missile.

As far as I am aware, the standard BUK system carries 4 missiles.

2nd.

I say without question HE WAS RIGHT.

What should we do ?

Sanctions.

Pull out of any treaties.

Put back the missile defense network in the EU.

Kick their snip off of the UN Security Council.

Lots of stuff could be done.

Instead of worrying about hurting anyone's feelings.

If the rest of the world did that to us for all the dirt we did over the years we wouldn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of...just saying. America has done far worse things than shooting a plane out of the sky.

The US doesn't have to do anything.

The people who died on that flight are NATO members, and they are UN members.

As their motto goes in NATO an attack on one is an attack on ALL.

The only thing NATO has to do is authorize a UN peace Keeping force there which essentially neutralize Putin.

As well as those others.

That is if they have the snips to do so.

They have the clear right to.

I don't see China signing on to that after forming BRICS. Especially with all the action in the South China sea. Arent they conveniently getting hit with a typhoon right now? I digress. They are going to try to do exactly what you put forth. Which is why I see it as a set-up. It's what they wanted all along. Europe was reluctant to go along with that last round of sanctions. Given more time I think you would have started to see more of a split between some of the nations regarding this. They needed something to unify them. I'm not putting it totally out of my mind that some idiot could have shot the plane down on accident, but doesn't this seem just a little too convenient when you consider everything that led up to this over the last decade or so regarding missile shields and what not?

So, you like running around in circles?

As for why the US should act first...well, your government likes to be the boss...time for them to act like the boss.

As for what NATO should do...

They should first determine where the missile cam from, and if possible, where the launching vehicle came from.

If it was launched from one of BUK's stolen from a Ukrainian base...than there is not much else to do.

There is a reason the major powers use proxies.

No we just dropped atomic bombs on women and children TWICE in Japan. We napalmed Vietnam. White Phosphorous in Iraq. How many military campaigns have we fought and killed numerous civilians? It's a WARZONE! Just because the people who own airliners have the audacity to fly over a warzone doesn't make it a good idea. Civilians die in warzones all the time and being 32,000 feet in the air apparently does not spare you from this harsh reality. It sucks for the people on the plane but there are so many red flags about this whole thing one can't help but see some sort of conspiracy when you look at the situation in Ukraine as a whole.

The only red flag I'm seeing is that of the Soviet Unions.

I have a question.
Malaysia announced the passengers nationalities today (in front of UN iirc) I saw it live on TV and they said they still need to verify the nationality of 4 passengers.
How can this happen?
I mean there has to be an official passengers list which should include nationalities, or not?
