911 called for help, police arrive and kill victim.

Cant blame the cop in this situation.

"Shoot to kill" is standard training protocol now. What ever happened to warning shots? Maybe just popping one off into the ground would make the gravity of the situation clear, although it shouldn't even escalate that far.

Shoot to kill has always been standard training protocol and it makes perfect sense. The difference is that cops are far more likely to use their guns these days. I remember many discussions with the older generation of cops and they would talk about the situations where they had to pull their guns as marks of shame... it meant all other measures had failed. Others would take pride in only having to pull a gun two or three times in a 30 year career.

Highly unlikely if you pop one in to the mother earth...while...shooting at a concrete floor might do the trick.
