EPA Employees Told to Stop Pooping in the Hallway

Before I go any further, mods; I won't hold it against you if you trash this thread. I just thought it so darned amusing and a symptom of bureaucracy in todays system.

Environmental Protection Agency workers have done some odd things recently.

Contractors built secret man caves in an EPA warehouse, an employee pretended to work for the CIA to get unlimited vacations and one worker even spent most of his time on the clock looking at pornography.

It appears, however, that a regional office has reached a new low: Management for Region 8 in Denver, Colo., wrote an email earlier this year to all staff in the area pleading with them to stop inappropriate bathroom behavior, including defecating in the hallway.

In the email, obtained by Government Executive, Deputy Regional Administrator Howard Cantor mentioned “several incidents” in the building, including clogging the toilets with paper towels and “an individual placing feces in the hallway” outside the restroom.

Potty jokes aside, what the hell is going on anymore?

Are there no standards?

Just wanted to share this.

Make your own jokes.

I wish the EPA would stop ***** on us.

Gotta say rather an asinine way to 'save the planet'

By ****** in the hallways.

That can spread disease.

And the run off pollute the streams.

And the AIR.

OMG.

The AIR.

A EPA employee by any other name smell as 'sweet'.

Great. The EPA has sunk to a new low in employment practices and began hiring 4 year olds to work for them.

Seriously, aren't their grown-ups who need jobs?

I really hope that every one finds the irony, if you don't you may want to brush up on what irony is.

This is disgusting, can't you get dysentery from human feces?

ROTFL, that's exactly why I clicked, too. My mind immediately went in the gutter, didn't consider any other hallway shenanigans.

And eww, poo in the hallways. How juvenile. What's next, lighting the poo on fire? Fire fart wars?

What can I say my fellow bunny? It's a crappy situation!

Okay... I had to.

Seriously now.... I see this in your story and think...... DOH! How about common sense replace all these fancy experts??

Confounded by what to make of this occurrence, EPA management “consulted” with workplace violence “national expert” John Nicoletti, who said that hallway feces is in fact a health and safety risk. He added the behavior was “very dangerous” and the individuals responsible would “probably escalate” their actions.

They needed a "national expert" to tell them this is a real BAD behavior in what should be a civilized workplace?? REALLY?!

Okay.. There is more than crappy hallways for problems here.

I can see it now on their applications for employment:

Qualification?

"I know how to go potty all by myself, and don't poop in the hallway OR my pants"

God, I want to apply to just put that down as my qualification for employment!

Lazy and cheating government employees - I'm shocked.

It's cool the EPA employees are polluting their own work (I use that term loosely) area. Sounds like some really intelligent people.

WTF!!!! Is the EPA only hiring teens with unruly bathroom humor as their claim to fame?

The more I hear about people in government. The more I know we have reached the point of living the movie Idiocracy.

Idiocracy is a 2006 American satirical science fiction comedy film directed by Mike Judge and starring Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, and Terry Crews. The film tells the story of two ordinary people from the present who take part in a top-secret military hibernation experiment, only to awaken 500 years in the future in a dystopian society full of extremely stupid people. Advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly unthinking society devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights.

Despite its lack of a major theatrical release, the film has achieved a cult following

None!

What a waste of a $50,000 toilet.

That's where my mind went!

What a sad deal this is. Hope whoever did the deeds get fired! Probably get a raise though.

This takes being crappy at your job to a WHOLE different level.

There really is something for poetic justice here though. The environmental protection agency, which is charged with keeping the environment clean and restoring what man has screwed up ....lives in filth by the choosing of their own people.

Perhaps we need to stop and ask if that agency doesn't need a REAL tight haircut for budget and numbers of people. If they have time to make their workplace so colorful? There are too many cooks and not enough orders.

I'd suggest layoff time. Just don't...umm..lay down. Not without looking anyway...and maybe sniffing a little too. Sheesh..

These are adults they hire, huh?

We are seeing what government workers are capable of when they answer to no one as far as job quality and performance.

We see these things mentioned in this article everyday almost but never hear or read where anyone is fired or punished for any of it (except in the VA scandal) most seem to receive promotion's.

Maybe this a new way to get promoted.... nothing would surprise me anymore.

You know, in my previous position I proofed apartment complex newsletters and we would occasionally have the odd article reminding or warning tenants not to defecate on the grounds. Those were usually the same sorts of properties that also had the inside sections with photos of people who were no longer allowed on the property.

Is that the kind of place the EPA is? Do they have long lists of employees, er, former employees who are no longer allowed on the premises?

I though our "best and brightest" were supposed to work in the bureaucracy?

Or maybe it was just the local hippy-dippy green freak trying to start up and impromptu composting toilet?
