We are becoming a society of pansies. I know that being an aggressive society is not good, but being concerned about things that really don't matter to make us look better to others is not good either.

We are going to extremes the other way, why can't we just stay in the middle. We say our parents need to go into a nursing home to be taken care of because they might get hurt at home. Well, they keep you alive in the nursing home but what kind of life is that for many when you are crippled or can't remember who you are. If you stayed in your home, you might just fall and your suffering would end. You might go to sleep and die in your sleep.

Is all the stuff we are doing actually humane? I question that. Nursing homes should be a temporary healing place, not a place to live in a doped up stupor.

Since this is a rant thread, I felt I should be able to express my feelings. If someone wants to live that way it is their right, but often we force our parents or talk them into living in those types of places. I am a firm believer that it is more humane to put down a dog or cat that is suffering, and I do not promote assisted suicide, but I also do not promote forcing a person to suffer when they could leave this world. I am not afraid of dying, I hate suffering though. I saw many relatives go through this suffering and still die. They weren't that bad that they deserved to suffer like that, the mental anguish of what you are causing your relatives is suffering beyond belief.

Uncle Tom means turn coat or race traitor.

The n-word basically means substandard human.

Any one of any race could be considered an Uncle Tom for betraying there family of group.

If my brother snitches on me. He's an Uncle Tom.

How about this. We both go on the subway in Harlem. I'll yell Uncle Tom. You yell the N-word and well see who walks off at the next stop.

Gee, think your brush is wide enough yet? Plenty of differing political affiliations do agree that what goes on in someone else's bedroom is NOYFB. Extremist mindset for viewing consenting adults as acceptable rather than abnormal? Yeah, sure brah.

The rest of your rant, stones in glass houses bud. Corruption knows no bounds, and Red is equally as guilty as Blue. Deflecting blame solves nothing.

Dear Oblvion;
I agree with your rant 99%....The one thing you didn't really touch upon is what I feel are the true culprits, the truly dangerous lot in our downfall as a nation = the Press
Our socialist, Liberal dick sucking press
The Dems are entitled to their ideas as are the GOP as are any other group....
Its up to the press to cover all fairly exposing each good and bad points
of course they don't and telling the same lie over and over again as they do....it becomes the truth for the zombies out there that vote as they are told....
They only solutions are 1. vote the bastards out...never gonna happen with all the zombies and fixed voting stations, 2. right wing ...dare i say it....death squads of groups that feel so cornered / scared that they will lash out...

However...i dont think it matters anymore.....we are too far gone..... farther than we dare think

So LBJ was a repub then?

Funny it is on tape, he is not a repub and he is a racist.

It is always funny to me how the dems always say the "parties flipped", there is no actual evidence of this, the dems have always been the racists, even to this day, they make the most racists gaffs of either party, yet you guys give them a pass, and try to turn non racists comments into them to hids your parties obvious racism.

Wait is this yet another top dem making obvious racial comments?

How about Clinton?

I mean how many you want here? Is this enough, or do you want 10 more or 20 more, I can and will supply them in moments.

This isnt looking good for your side bro.

Either admit racism is at least a problem for both parties, or I will continue at great length here.

Ha, enlightened my arse. I've noticed that the more we've become disengaged from the rest of the world -- more nationalistic & less willing to interact with foreigners on an equal field, in other words --the more fruit loopy we get socially. It's almost like we've become the world's bat guano crazy neighbor. No doubt the rest of the world looks at us in the WTF sense on many levels. We don't even make sense to ourselves.

The N-word is not supposed to mean that, it is supposed to just identify the origin of a culture of a people. Somehow long ago it got messed up. The name is from an old meaning of dark or black.

This is being blown up, a person who is nigerian should not be upset about the N-word. But as usual, we blow things out of proportion on both sides and throw insults at others in this country.

I read a study a while back about Europeans sometimes won't listen until you yell at them. This is evident with kids some time, and also in arguments that happen to marriages. The article also stated that the Chinese will not do something if you yell at them, they believe in civility as being important. The Diplomats understand this difference in culture, and yelling at the Chinese will cause them to do the opposite while yelling at Europeans gets them to do what they are supposed to do. This was hard to comprehend at first, but I evaluated it and it appears to be true. I am sure that the Chinese are not the only ones in this class.

What in today's society is worse then slavery?

What in today's society is worse then forcing 13 year old girls to marry old men?

What in today's society is worse then making educating women or blacks illegal?

The world is better then ever before. All of the things I mentioned were accepted and encouraged by the state and churches. What do we condone now that's even close to those things?

The same could be said for the swastika. The nazi's didn't invent it. However once someone evil adopts it and it becomes intimately connected to it........that's the reaction you get.

I was saving the liberal media for last as it is the most outrageous of all examples, but since you brought it up.....

well no, we cant dump too much info on the uninformed all at once, most will just runoff and be lost, it is a slow process, and understanding cant be forced, it must be the choice of the other to see their misplaced trust and find for themselves a new position.

I dont want him to think as I do, I dont even honestly care, I am just bored and enjoying some whiskey after work, and trying to do what ATSers do best, deny ignorance.

Ignorance is curable through learning, stupidity though.......in the words of Ron White-"You cant fix stupid".

Time will tell in this instance, I always am a hopeful type though, always walking uphill, always hoping I will reach the summit before my strength fails me.

I am glad you know the truth of these things, and I am happy to discuss this with you further in this thread or any other time of your choosing.

The truth is the truth, some will not see, no proof will ever be enough in their eyes.

Forcing people to see the world the way you do, or they're ostracized utterly for being extremists, or terrorists.

Educating them to not look at the world critically, but to only swallow what is poured down their throats.

We (by that I mean the establishment) condone the attacking of ANYONE with a worldview that differs from what is put forth as the 'norm'.

YOU might see the world as so much better, and so much more 'peaceful' (honestly, I'm still laughing at that one), but I do not. I guess that makes me a bigot, terrorist, and subversive, huh?

The parties didn't flip. The voters did. The southern democrats were mad they lost the war WITHIN the democrat party over civil rights. Since the northern dems were the champions of civil rights. The south went republican.

Evidence? The year the civil rights act passed was the first year in decades the south voted republican. They have voted republican ever since.

The most of te GOP voted for civil rights. But it was pushed by the northern dems and rejected by the southern dems. The GOP avoided the fray.

Strom Thurman was the head pro segregation guy. He was so pissed the dems backed civil rights he swapped parties.

The GOP didn't flip racist... The racists invaded the GOP.

Very well stated.

The tactic I was using though wasnt flat out truthfulness. As it seems I support the repubs from my comments, when in fact I did blame them, and would no more follow them then the dems.

I have read many of your posts, your more along the lines I am, I do not follow or trust either of these sewer dwelling parties.

For the sake of arguing with a fully entrenched dem though, one must bring it from the opposing side, then walk it back to the mid, where they will also stroll as they know much on the far left is also effed the hell up.

So I oppose him in the opposite extreme, give ground on a couple of issues, I even made it easy for him a couple of times, and we meet in the middle where all the sane folks live.

I know sounds counterproductive but it isnt, it is honestly the only way to bridge the gap between to entrenched opposing views.

I was great in debate club, I pwned many unsuspecting opponents.

Now though all my previous work is lost, as having explained it, he now knows the jig is up, and I will not get another chance that i just squandered.

Though for the sake of civility with one such as yourself, who is an open minded critical thinker, I thought it far more rewarding to actually explain my true position, rather than gain an enemy where one should not exist.

In short, you ruined my strat, but you did call it all exactly right.

Laughable at best.

Don't get me wrong here, The GOP is just as bad as the Dems in my opinion, but to actually believe what you just said, is sad.

So, the Democrats historically prove to be racist, but when that is brought up, it's "Oh, all the racists left the Dems, and joined the GOP." How convenient when attempting to saint one's self.

I personally think words are wind. It's foolish to give breaths of air power over you.

However all derogatory terms are not created equal. Some are more offensive the others.

The racists were in the south as democrats. When the northern dems championed civil rights, they got pissed and swapped parties.

1964 was when the civil rights act was passed. 1964 was the first time the south voted for a republican president in decades.

The republicans at the time didn't magically become racists in 1964.... The southern dems mad at civil rights joined them in 1964.

Those are facts..... Strom Thurman was the head "Dixiecrat" he swapped from dem to rep in 1964. Coincidence? lol
