And it doesn't necessary make good reading for the Russian/separatist supporters.... They are not quite the 'good guys' some have painted them to be and some of the accusations levelled against Kiew are shown to be false. Though, of course, the Kiev Govt are not without criticism as well.

(I think this deserves a seperate thread to keep it apart from the speculation and media rumours and misinformation in other threads)

Some of the main points from the press release:

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Wednesday issued a new report on Ukraine that describes the breakdown of law and order in the areas held by armed groups in the east of the country – with increasing evidence of abductions, detentions, torture, and killings – as well as a number of “worrying trends” emerging in Crimea.

High Commissioner Navi Pillay urged the armed groups operating in eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk to “stop taking themselves, and the people living in their regions, down this dead end, which is leading simply to misery, destruction, displacement and economic deprivation.”

~ ~ ~

While devoting half the report to recent events in the east and Crimea, the Monitoring Mission also outlines the various ongoing investigations and initiatives (five in all) related to human rights violations surrounding the November 2013 - February 2014 Maidan protests. The report also describes the six investigations and commissions established to investigate the tragic events in Odesa on 2 May.

~ ~ ~

The report states that the Government of Ukraine is continuing to implement the 17 April Geneva Statement, through a number of initiatives and legislative changes, as well as taking the first steps towards the adoption of a constitutional reform package, including the decentralization of power and a special status for the Russian language

~ ~ ~

As well as fleeing random violence and deteriorating economic and social conditions, some displaced people interviewed cited “targeted attacks and intimidation of activists, and increasingly of ‘ordinary’ residents, known for their ‘Pro-Ukrainian’ stance.”

~ ~ ~

The report lists a number of examples of photographs and videos being misused for propaganda purposes, including a photograph of a wounded child in Aleppo, Syria, who was presented as a victim of fighting at the Donetsk airport; and a video of Ukrainian helicopters with UN symbols which were filmed earlier and elsewhere and were not, as claimed in the video, being used in the current fighting in Ukraine.

Having read some of the report it reminds me of early history of North America .Heck it would seem that some of that stuff still exist today in Canada .Make you wonder if it's not the same group of people working behind the scenes .If not they must have taken a page out of the colonial powers of old . To see what has happened to Syria and the people there is incredible .To think that western powers are not shy to add to the suffering of civilians by arming and training outside groups to over throw a elected Govt .and destabilize the country is telling . It's also telling that the UN has little power to stop it too . With a enormous backlog of complaints needing addressed just against Israel alone, it makes little sense they should move this report to the front of the line . Must be the cold winter ahead for them that is adding importance to it .

Sorry for my paranoia, it's just...well, you know, no IP-specified accounts\dynamic IP. Lots of weird #e nowadays. I would love to go back to 60-s. All lived fine. Didn't hate each other. Raised our families, knowing that the "enemy" has it's own families and wouldn't put them to harm over pointless stuff.
We...well, "we" is a bit more specific nowadays, but nevertheless - we didn't start multiple wars. Only one at a time...
What a time. Now we're just asking for a nuclear holiday. I don't mind if my skin falls off. We'll all meet in heaven, won't we? And if we don't, I'd pretty much like the one who throws it at us, to feel the same. Some people think nuclear bunkers can protect you from a bomb. 8-) Well, not completely. At least. There's all sorts of radiation, that peirces kilometers of soil and lead and concrete and steal and whatever. It's more complicated than that.

Bottomline.

Nobody will survive ww3. Well, 0,01 will. Because they are not on the Russian\US targets map. Everybody knows where all the "secret bunkers are". It is a bitch to conceal years of man-work. People talk. Other people check for oddities. Building materials have always been tracked. Damn, it's the easiest way of tracking. And any construction specialist can point out the over-use of materials. if someone wanted to hide it through such silly means.
The NORAD can rurvive a buclear missile hit. But of which size?
There were tests on farm animals. Their...bodies were scattered all over the bunker. On the walls.... Anyway, there is no escape. We live together or we die. Sooner or later.

LOL. Please give us a link on these posts. PLEASE.
Such BS can only be found on the "yellow" news, or your "friends" are...below average in, well, you figure it out for yourself.

The last UN report on the situation in Ukraine was issued back in April and it also had issues with Russia. A lot of the claims Russia had made about Ukraine, like violence towards ethnic Russians, were unfounded. They also took Russia to task for the manner in which its media reported on the events.

Not surprisingly Russia rejected the results of the UN report. Russia prohibited the UN group at the time from going into Crimea.
