Can they Sioux the trademark office?
Or what if they changed the pic on their helmet to a certain kind of peanut?

How about the Washington Bullpucks?

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Sounds like a hockey team. Their name's currently the Capitals, but if any upper case letters find that offensive, we could probably change it.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

welcome to the team..what name do you suggest that cause someone to feel deeply hurt, upset, or angry???

OMG...if you were that deeply hurt. You wouldn't be an avid lifelong fan as you expressed. Methinks your hypocritical slip is showing.

If you were that offended, you wouldn't have plunked your happy a$$ down and cheered them on for each game.

Dear Mr happy a$$, I'm not offended by the name ..I'm offended people want to keep a name Natives find offensive. How about we switch our mascot to a Jewish rabbi and call it the washing fat noses? That's not offensive to anyone is it?

They've been the Redskins for what? 80 years? This is ridiculous. Some people have to get bent about the most inane things. Do Southern ball players not play for the Yankees?

Soon "Fahrenheit 451" will be just as prophetic as "1984"!

The "Politically Correct" thought Nazis are destroying the Freedom of Speech.......

"Fahrenheit 451" offends me.

Why can't it be "Celsius 233"?

PC has won the day!

(but don't worry, everyone still gets a trophy)

Anyone heard of the Vancouver Canucks? Let's look at "Canuck":

"Canuck" /kəˈnʌk/ is a sometimes offensive slang term for a Canadian.

en.wikipedia.org...

How many Canadians do you hear blatting about that? NONE. Hell, probably would be pissed if a challenge came to that. Let's ask Aboriginal people if they are offended. Not some small group with nothing better to do than to beak about a non-issue.

That's the #ing problem in a Redskin Spanish nutshell. YOU see what YOU WANT to see. The (insert PC name of choice here) of the time had no problem with the name and in fact did consider it an honor to have Redskins as a team name, Including the actual redskins that played on the team .

I'm happy about it.
I always kinda thought it was a slap in the face to Native Americans.
Come in, take land, wipe out almost an entire race, then name a team, representing the capitol of the nation who tried to exterminate them, in their "honer?" To me, that's a little offensive.
Then again, I'm not Native American.

Why don't we ask them? Not gauge our thoughts on some outdated sense of white guilt.

And the Washington Lambskins

Or the Washington Pigskins.

Then the Commerce Dept can claim anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish equally.

I don't think Jim Thorpe had a problem with this:

James Francis "Jim" Thorpe (Sac and Fox (Sauk): Wa-Tho-Huk, translated as "Bright Path";[1] May 28, 1888 – March 28, 1953)[2] was an American athlete of both Native American and European ancestry. Considered one of the most versatile athletes of modern sports, he won Olympic gold medals for the 1912 pentathlon and decathlon, played American football (collegiate and professional), and also played professional baseball and basketball.

From 1920 to 1921, Thorpe was nominally the first president of the American Professional Football Association (APFA), which would become the National Football League (NFL) in 1922.

Don't you think the best athlete of his time(and many generations after) would have made a stink about it if it was offensive?

All NFL footballs are made with premium cow leather. Can't complain about having to touch a nasty pig ball anymore.

Now, Obama can start his own league team.

The Washington Prayer Rugs....end zone in the East only...
