Man Killed After Setting Off Explosives Outside Georgia Courthouse

A man who authorities say was heavily armed was shot and killed by sheriff's deputies on Friday after he drove his truck onto the grounds of a suburban Atlanta courthouse and set off explosive devices.

A little bit later in the article:

The sheriff described Mr. Marx as a "sovereign citizen," part of a movement of anti-government extremists who consider themselves separate from the U.S. and outside government authority.

On my own local news, they said that sovereign citizens think the U.S. government is illegitimate, they don't pay taxes, are classified as domestic terrorists, and they are 300k strong.

I did a search and didn't see this anywhere, but I thought, given the general subject matter of this site, that it's an important thing to talk about. The language is clear: if you're a sovereign citizen (and likely even if you have sympathies towards the movement) the government considers you a terrorist.

LANGUAGE WARNING

I'm sure there are going to be a ton of people lauding this guy as some sort of hero. I'm so embarrassed by this site. The one idiot blathering on about not knowing if the cops killed in Canada were good cops or bad cops and all the stars supporting that idiotic notion mad me cringe. I expect it here too.

Cops should be afforded the same rights as anyone else, they shouldn't be targeted and killed because someone got a speeding ticket or busted selling drugs. Everyone wants cops held to the same standards as civilians, but if a cop gets shot he probably deserved it. How do you know that cop wasn't on your side?

I have to say,

Why does this surprise you?

If you are not with the government and you are against the government, well you are an enemy.

Especially when you set of explosives and try, or "do" bum rush a courthouse like a completely insane individual.

Hmm...I missed the sovereign citizen bit in the local coverage.

Anyways, this is in my general area, I pass that courthouse all of the time. Dude wasn't too bright...the Sheriff's office and jail is right across the street.

North GA and the metro area in general are kind of interesting....a bizarre mix of modern and back woods - a clash of cultures to an extent. You have half million dollar plus homes right next to abandoned chicken houses and rural trailer parks.

There is still a huge Rebel mindset as well. Every so often someone puts a new Rebel flag on an old gravesite I pass.

I don't really know what in the world the guy was thinking, either. I mean, this is Georgia. Every third person has a gun on them. If the cops hadn't been there to do him in, some citizen across the street or down the road a piece likely would've.

Plus, he had already agreed to plea deal..minor/first time offense drug program, sixty days in jail...to be served at a later date. He wasn't going to jail today.

One source said the shooter was former TSA.

The FBI and BATF were also there. The feds are always on the scene at the false--flag event.
Look for the usual prior mental health 'treatment.'

They have reported that active shooter 'drills' were held in the past two weeks at that courthouse.

www.youtube.com...

---------------------------------

Shooter had been identified as Dennis Marx, 48

www.ajc.com...
Marx, in court documents, said the case was hurting his “on-going search for additional employment.
“Defendants have illegally seized all of plaintiff’s and plaintiff’s family’s life savings and weapons collection, considered to be one of the current ‘best investments,’ ” Marx said.

Well at least there you have a real motive, so it's probably not a false-flag, just some guy who's had enough.

Anyone doing what he did; driving up to a courthouse and setting off explosives, deserves to be shot. What an idiot!

That sort of nonsense doesn't do anyone any good.

So if you don't pay taxes in Merica you're a domestic terrorist yeh

Where is the smoke from the explosion? Is it that orange looking smoke?

And how many shots were fired by police?

Sounded like they riddled him with bullets.

out of the 100 rounds fired by police, i'm sure 2 or 3 hit their mark if that. i'm trying to be generous with our stellar marksmen police force

Actually I would ask the same question if any cops were killed, were they the "good" ones that some say are out there or were they the bad sort that we see video of more everyday.
One slight change...
Bombs are not acceptable!
Some may have heard about the baby who was recently hurt when one of these "heroes" threw a flashbang (grenade) into the toddlers crib!
HEROES!
Bombs are indiscriminate and can hurt innocents, cops do not get the badge of innocents as that is EXACTLY what they have signed up for.
Bombs are bad MMMMKAY.
So....IMO, this man did wrong.

(Edit)
More towards the OP.
The best question to ask is why are people starting to do these things, there has to be a valid reason why someone who has gone through life and decided that it is ok if their life ends.
And "cuz he wuz a nutter" is not a valid argument as we are all creatures of our environment.
Something must have changed and shaped these people's views.

Ofcourse,
'they' are terrified that their little scheme is being unveiled.

To practice dominion over another biological entity is the name of the game.

How could someone be a soverein the same time as being under the authority of one's self?

How bad does your life have to get before loading up your truck with explosives becomes a viable option?

The sovereign citizen movement is real. There is paperwork to fill out and the courts recognize you as a sovereign, so our laws do allow for it. No doubt they are anti govt, and no doubt they are prevelant in that area of the country.

If the police don't like a certain group of people, they simply apply pressure, and voila, the headlines they need to gain support for the radicalization of said group. Everyone breaks some kind of law and drug use is prob the most prevalent of those.

I am certainly not standing up for this guy because what he did is certainly worth every bullet he was fed. He could have just paid his fine and served his time. I'm sure his feelings were hurt when they took his guns, but in hindsight it looks like the police were justified in their view of him being a threat. I hope no one else, including the officers were hurt in this sad event.

These labels, its gotta be some kinda concerted propaganda effort, right?

For example, if someone in Afghanistan picks up arms against the occupying forces (the US, UK etc.), they are instantly labeled as an "insurgent", "taliban", "terrorist" etc. Its never just an average guy defending his country from a foreign invader.

See any parallels with the "sovereign citizen" labels?

Lets be honest, most people are "anti-government" (in some sense), but unlike our government, the average citizen does not embrace and looooove violence.

The system and the minions who are a part of it, make any meaningful change nearly impossible.

A Ron Paul Presidency would have (in essence) been a non-violent revolution but the establishment did everything in their power to ensure his defeat.

Do you get the feeling the cops knew this was going to happen?

www.cnn.com...
A nearly three-minute long gunfight Friday ended with Marx dead, after being confronted by a swarm of law enforcement officers.
They seemingly came from everywhere -- from the jail across the street, as part of a SWAT team that happened to be nearby and even inside the courthouse where they busted out windows in order to get more angles to target the attacked. .....
A SWAT team pulled up about 30 seconds into the firefight and engaged the attacker....

www.cnn.com...
A preliminary investigation found that Marx hadn't been in his Cumming home for about 10 days.

Ahh yes, the mysterious gaps in the timeline where nobody knew where the shooter was.

"Hey Dennis, we found this nifty way you can get rid of those criminal charges you are facing. See, we're running this drill on Friday, and we need someone to play the bad guy. Don't worry about it, everyone will be firing blanks. Suuuure you can trust us. C'mon, we're your friends."

I dont agree with his methods but I can promise you that as we move foward the words " Domestic Terrorist " will become the phrase if the day. It will be used to persecute anyone who's idea's don't follow the grand picture.

Ha, that is genius, and could account for every high profile shooting in the last 10 yrs, maybe more.

They have admitted to approaching what they consider high risk suspects and offering a way to allow them to fulfill a "terrorist attack" before. Even going so far as delivering "explosive material" and a "plan". Then when the suspect goes to carry out said "plan" they nab him.

Which is a questionable tactic to say the least and borders on entrapment because you never know how much convincing the fellow needed and if he would have gone through the trouble of organising it himself.

Your scenario makes the suspect seem innocent and totally criminalizes the police.
Which is slightly less likely. Maybe.

The timing on this is a bit too close to the reactivation of the Domestic Terror Unit that was closed down right after 9/11. Before 9/11 you see they were chasing bad guys from the freeman movement then it was the Taliban. Now that they Taliban are apparently our buddies it's back to the old domestic terrorists.

SWAT teams can't do anything in less than 10 minutes unless it's a planned event.

How handy someone got video footage of the dramatic scene.

No chance at all this was a planned event, right?
