Simple preference.
Mercedes SLK55, SL55, E55, S55, CLK55 all have the same engine yet individual preference may prefer one over the other.

Why do people put body kits on their Subarus to make them look like drift cars or rally cars? The car doesnt function any differently but it sure looks different.

At 500 yards, 99,999 firearms out of 100,000 are more accurate than the shooter.

An AR-15 will consistently hit within a five inch bull at 500 yards.

It would benefit you to look at the big picture here. Pro-gun advocates are not only trying to protect their current rights in the present, they attempting to STOP the incremental removal of their rights over time.

Right now in today's America it may seem silly to own what you refer to as a big, scary, assault rifles. But decades from now, after gun rights have been abolished, you will have left you kids with no feasible to way to protect themselves in a possibly much darker world.

The USA won't last forever, it will crumble eventually. The only difference it, do you want to risk leaving the people of the future generations helpless against the government?

Sometimes accuracy and penetration and range are needed over a pellet spread.

No Snake Oil BS as many have talked about will do as they tend to cause dynamic resistance and dirty the bore with burnt powder.

I started using "Gun Juice" (Microlon) a couple of years ago and am thoroughly sold on it. There is a vid on you tube about how to treat the bore. Basically swab the bore with it, shoot a round, swab the bore with it, and repeat for a total of 10 times. My accuracy at 100 yards went from 4" groupings with 5 rounds to 2" groupings doing nothing else than using the Microlon. Works for me, hope it will for others.

People who physically can't fire a 12 gauge? I can't be home 24/7 and I like to know that my wife can protect my kids when I'm not here because in the middle of nowhere the average response time for state police or sheriffs dept is over 30 minutes. The rifle has very little recoil to it and she can fire it reliably without having to worry abut getting knocked on her ass.

Not that I should have to justify why I own ANYTHING to anyone else. It's like asking why someone needs a plasma tv when the old 19 inch cube will allow you to watch television just as well. Some people are trained on specific weapons platforms as a result of military service etc... Some people collect firearms and have a variety of them on hand. And that doesn't even get into things like aesthetic differences that don't affect functionality in the least. Like comparing an AR-15 to a mini 14. Same rifle, functions exactly he same. One looks like A military style weapon, one looks like a hunting rifle. Both function exactly the same. They only look different.

I think the true answer is because those Rambo dudes who buy military grade stuff don't plan on using it simply for defence. They claim it's to "defend against military", but many of these people actually have a much more offensive plan - to start a Civil War in America (they find the concept extremely romantic because of all the Hollywood movies that has come out about revolutions recently).

But as usual, ammunosexuals (as Bill Maher called them) don't use one ounce of logic.

They don't realize that allowing people to gain access to automatic weapons and bombs will also allow Mafia access to these things. And when the power of the mafia would equate the military's, then let's just say that America will become a Really, really dark place to raise your kids.

Ever hear of the Valentine's Day Massacre where the Mafia gunned down several people with automatic weapons? Well guess what? It happened in 1929 so the Mafia already can get automatic weapons which none of us are able to get easily since they are heavily restricted and regulated. This is not what we are talking about and the rifles depicted throughout the thread are semi-automatic firearms.

It would help if every cretin who stumbled into this thread actually knew what it was the hell they were talking about instead of using Hollywood movies as a foundation for their impression of either firearms or the 2nd Amendment.
