I just spoke to my niece in Salisbury west of town. They have shut down the number1. She was told they think he is holed-up in the woods.

Apparently he has a hatred of police prior to today.

Stay safe.

Do you guys think this will have the same stink as the boston bombings?

Way to early to tell but my guess is no, this is canada not the US, home of the snakes.
And of all the incidents you could have picked you pick the one that didn't involve shooting outside of the cops??

Stay safe tenth!

This man is well armed, obviously better trained than the Police are and seems to be motivated.

I just watched a live news piece that showed many officers hiding behind their cars with their weapons drawn, all I can say is BACK THEM ALL OF ASAP, this guy hasnt shown he is an unprovoked threat to the public at large,he has battled RCMP. He has defined his motives.

They know who he is,he isnt going anywhere for very long in todays information age, so DIFFUSE the dynamic ASAP.

I do not want him to shoot another 5 or 10 officers, this is not a fair fight , he has all the advantages now,yes if they push him now he will engage them again, but he has the high ground, everyone is a fair target to him now . I do not believe even the Tactical Squads will have an advantage going up against him.

This current method of handeling the incident will soon end in another showdown and this will put the pubilc at greater risk,if the situation is DIFFUSED the next battle will be only between him and the Police with less risk to the Public.

Right now instead of wasting time they should be going house to house within the tactical perimeter escorting people OUT of their houses,NOT telling them to hide inside and lock their doors, they are using a hammer and anvil tactical push and the anvil is made up of families with children.

Evacuating people ASAP makes it easier to pin him down and create the fight the RCMP need to see happen to end this.

Go house to house and remove people as you go and clear each house one by one.
Using people like Cnarys in a Mineshaft is not fair to the pubilc and may result in civilian deaths.

The Police have to take this man on head to head, not keep the public in the middle.

Clear the homes, one by one, send in your teams and either arrst him or re-engage him,but DO NOT RISK REGULAR PEOPLES LIVES.

For the love of all things good, tell those officers to back off from heavy cover, that guy has high caliber long barrel weapons and knows how to use them,he could pick off another group easily from a very long distance, the Officers should not be grouped closely AND they should not rely on those cars as a shield considering the weaponry they are facing, this guys rounds will pass through those cars like a hot knife through butter and the guy knows it,he has proven to be a lethal combatant and he is now in an Urban environment. Their body armor is also useless against high caliber long barel weapons like the ones they are facing.

Diffuse the dynamic immediatly, evacuate civilians house by house, then engage him at long range , use his scent and dogs, remove the people now, clear the houses, then keep the perimeter tight and send in as many scent dogs as you can bring in and find him, then engage him at long range if possible and try to limit casualtys.

Hopefully while the civilians are being evacuated he will settle down and make contact via social media, and if we are lucky he will turn himself in and we will see no more deaths.

...Apologies, when I see "shooter" I automatically think US.

Yeah - well...join the crowd.
Then again - that's primarily because of the media-exaggeration of U.S. 'gun' crimes - methinks.

Did you spend any time at all, even a couple of minutes to review the news from the area which includes a link to his facebook page?

In his own words, it is really clear what this guy thinks. His unfiltered point-of-view is pretty clear to anyone who would take a minute to look

Killing is killing, not all in the forces are 'insane' just following orders, as he is, his own.

That said after a bit of prowling around Facebook, I read a bunch of things from people who knew him,
all in shock, all upset and the odd comment saying "we all know when he goes, he goes"
another wrote "you knew this wasn't the answer''

Along with the gun memes, he has likely been on edge a while.

RIP the police killed, just doing their job.

Some people so gleefully bask in shadow of tragedy that they will take any opportunity to do so. Promote your viewpoint, opportunistic and misguided as it may be. And while you do gloat, enjoy it with a side of crow.

Truly sad news, from what I can gather the RCMP are a terrific force as well, I feel for the families.

Thank God in modern civilised society these shootings only happen once every 10 years or so.....still far too often for my liking still though.

Being directly affected by the Cumbrian shootings of 2010 I can understand what must be going through the minds of the community right now. If he hasn't been already, I hope they stop him soon.

He doesn't look like someone who would do that sort of thing in the pictures, he just looks like an outdoorsman who likes to hunt and fish. The one picture with shells all over doesn't mean he is crazy either, that is normal when guys go out shooting. I didn't check out his conversations though. Looks can be deceiving.

Yeah you should read... he seems VERY anti-government/establishment/police

I took the time to browse his facebook page, and I saw nothing there that I don't see posted here on a daily basis. Not in any way condoning his actions, but in a way I have to agree with Stirling. The RCMP have given no indication as to how this transpired. Perhaps if we had all the details,we would not be so quick to judge. We do not know why he chose to do this,or what he hoped to gain. There are many here that post far worse, and do not grab weapons and go on a spree. I cannot judge him by his facebook alone...or the fact he was homeschooled by a religious family. Not all turn out violent. At some point this guy had a moment in his life where police must have scarred him for life. Something triggered it again last night, and this is the result. My hope is that they shoot to maim and not kill. He needs help. Prayers for his family who were whisked away by RCMP at gunpoint.

You do realize that you're defending the same sort of mentality that some express when they say, 'Must of been a black guy' when the local 7-11 clerk gets shot for $17?

Is it really asking that much to read the article prior to replying?

And if you are implying that your opinion/viewpoint is somehow opposed to mine (safe to assume?) then you have literally no room to talk as your side has been using bodies as soapboxes for years.
