Sen. Schumer emerges as surprise key player in Benghazi scandal

In a surprise disclosure today that is sure to impact the scope and direction of the upcoming select committee's investigation into the Benghazi massacre, investigators say that U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. has emerged as a key player in the scandal. So far after a year and a half since the massacre took place, Schumer's name has never been connected to any of the events on the night a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were slaughtered by Islamist terrorists at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

But investigators now have poured over the White House visitors' log and discovered that Sen. Schumer signed into the White House on the night of the Benghazi attacks. Schumer logged into the White House at 5:30 p.m. on the evening of Sept. 11, 2012 and logged out at 11:59 p.m.

Schumer entered the White House at roughly the same time as Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. There is, however, some discrepancy as to the time line. It was previously reported that Panetta and Demspey met with Obama at 5 p.m. But it is easy to account for the discrepancy. Panetta and Dempsey were meeting in the Oval Office with Obama. Schumer, on the other hand, met with his chief of staff, Michael Lynch, at Democratic Policy and Communications Center, along with former Schumer Deputy Press Secretary Christopher Scribner, and Pete Rouse, Legal Counsel to the President.

Speculation of course however the article raises some interesting points.

Committee on the Judiciary; Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts;
Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights;
Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs;
Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security (Chairman);
Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security;

Committee on Rules and Administration (Chairman);
Joint Committee on the Library (Vice Chair);

I bolded the assignment that may be affected by Benghazi. Judiciary committees are involved in impeachment related issues.

I would totally believe that slimy chuck shumer would be involved. Personally I cannot stand the man, and have found him on many occasions in the past to be a liar and well the t&c forces me to stop there....

Schumer of course is a long term politician at the Federal level (30+ years).

He's also a Harvard lawyer.

He's also a very trusted member of the Progressive insiders currently in power.

Perhaps he was summoned to the White House to give advice on how to proceed "legally".

He also may have been secretly involved in the possible arms deal that many speculate was going on the day/night of the "attack".

I'm sure Obama and Hillary were keeping Schumer in the loop.

Common sense would tell the average person that this is another find that will motivate the left to enhance there hate filled ridicule of anyone trying to get to the truth about Benghazi, otherwise the Dems would just answer the questions, give the investigators what they want, and when its all over they could tell the world how horrible and politically motivated the GOP have been .

Obama and his lackies could not look more guilty and most likely are, why be so hateful if the truth is on your side.

4 Brave Americans died waiting for help to arrive.

That help was not coming.

A future Presidency was on the line. The men were sacrificed.

For what, A partisan in a pant suit.

The Ambassador was tortured and they all know it and probably saw it.

Fell and hit her head ?

How about a mental breakdown watching the horror of her policy.

I think so. In order for billary to have a 'breakdown' over her part in the deaths at Bengazi, she would need to have a conscience.
I don't believe she, or any of her ilk, does.

Anything's possible... I am trying to figure out exactly how Schumer could be involved and if so responsible for?

He is the #3 ranking Democrat in the Senate. The fact he had one of his aides for media affairs with him makes me wonder if its an effort to shape the possible conversation should issues come to light. that could possibly explain the presence of the lawyer as well. Trying to develop a strategy that would allow them political cover while spinning the story.

If Schumer were to lead the media charge it would allow the White House to state they aren't involved in this or that.
