Well, I was keeping bits of the storyline secret for surprises... but since we've got one of the special ops guys as a playing character, I suppose the information is needed, huh?

The Red Flu was an overhyped bunch of bs. A lot of people got sick from an extra chemical that leaked into some of the North American Union's water supply, which caused a few people to get sick and cough up blood for a short amount of time. The effects were non lethal, and the chemical was neutralized, but because of the oil problem, the economy was still doomed to crash.

SO, the higher-ups are hiding in government bunkers, while the special ops teams are swarming the cities--and shortly afterwards, as you can tell, spreading into smaller towns like Las Nueva Era--in the name of cleaning a quarantine.

The quarantine Is everywhere in the North American Union, and all "suspected infected areas" are basically just normal living quarters. Cities and towns.

Because the government feared a revolt and a revolution sparking from the lack of oil and the inevitable economy collapse, they ordered the black ops to kill off a good chunk of the population in the name of controlling the bogus Red Flu, thus preventing a civilian take-over and a potential civil war.

And, another little chestnut...

The oil shortage isn't just in the North American Union.

At this point, humanity has bled the earth dry of its oils.

EVERYONE is out of oil. Everyone in the world.

The Red Flu hoax isn't so prominent overseas, but the economy's collapse is rippling around the world, to all the continents that rely on gasoline, even just a little bit. So, it is, as the song goes, the end of the world as we know it.

Name: Robbie (everybody in town calls him Angus)
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Disposition: likable but socially awkward. He understands computers and machines better than people.
Appearance: 5'9" tall, weighs 170lb. Dark hair tuning gray around the ears, goatee, mustache and piercing green eyes.
Strength: 4
Perception: 9
Endurance: 4
Charisma: 4
Intelligence: 8
Agility: 8
Luck: 3

Backstory:
Robbie was born and raised in La Nueva Era. His mom and pops were not really preppers but they tried to live off of the grid as much as possible.
Robbie grew up with an intense interest in ANYTHING mechanical. When Robbie was 10 his dad sold a huge portion of the land he had inherited to the local realtor (who got word that people were looking for land in the area, to say the least, the realtor ended up making a killing).
His dad used the money to start moving off the grid. As he started bringing in solar panels and wind turbines he was absolutely amazed at how fast Robbie picked up on how everything worked. His dad started bringing "How to" books home from the library. Once he was finished with them he would let Robbie read them before returning them. Not only did he read them, he devoured them and anything else relating to mechanics he could find.
After a couple of years of this Robbie would go around town looking for junk, people had thrown out. He started making his own wind turbines and alternators from old washing machine motors, solar water heaters from soda cans and he wasted almost nothing. He could find a use for the strangest things in the oddest ways.
By the time he was 16 he was doing repair work around town and quickly became the resident "handyman".
Once he graduated from school, he went on to college to study Mechanical Engineering (his pops dream for him)
During his third year he was extremely board and his grades were starting to show it. He had a lot of side projects and inventions that were taking up a lot of his time and thoughts.
Roughly half way into his first semester, of his junior year, he got the call.
Both his mom and pops were tragically killed in a head on collision by a drunk driver who walked away with barely a scratch.
He needed to go home and settle his family affairs. Once they were buried, he was surprised to find that they had no debt whatsoever. In fact they had left him a tidy sum and a house that was completely off the grid now.
He buried himself in his machines and computers trying to cope with the loss. He kept putting school of until one day, a couple of years later, he realized he was not going back.
He started working on broken machinery, computers, electronics or whatever anyone needed working on. He fell right back into the roll as the town's handyman and it felt right.
Lately he has been contracted by the school to update their heating and air systems.

Sorry for the typos, I am on my phone and with all of the tool bars we have on ATS now it is a killer to try and get the cursor to where you need it (lol) much less trying to fix a mistake once its made. I tried the mobil version but having trouble with it as well. Hope my above post comes across clearly.

Do you have like thinkfree office or any thing? It would probably be worlds easier fir you to type it all out in one of those types of apps and then simply copying and pasting to ATS.

Lol, I don't think the bigger keys would be a good idea.
I barely have enough room to see three lines of text now. If I try and move the cursor by tapping the line of text, I almost always hit one of the short cuts in the toolbar above because it overlaps the text.
Once you hit a short cut it's byebye post. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to get the intro post done.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I will check that out. Sounds like that would be best. My Samsung S3 is my primary way of talking to all the fine folks on ATS.
THANKS!

Another new character! WOHOOOO!

*Ahem* ... I have a minor announcement.

After everyone's in the bunker, there is going to be a small time-jump. Once we all get to the bunker, the bunker door isn't going to open for a week. We're going to hide for a week, getting to know each other, making plans, and living off of Dorian's preps.

ALSO, as of now, everyone is scrambling to reach their destinations, and we're slowly forming the survival group. As you guys may have noticed, the character stat points haven't really been used for anything yet... but after the week of hiding had passed, and after we leave the bunker, the stat points are going to be much more relevant, as we'll be using them to determine successes and fails in survival skills, self defense skills, etc.

Not fussing Night,
But have you posted Sandra's stats? I went through (as I am new to the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats) and tried to see how everyone set up their characters, to see how mine would stack up, but I didn't see hers.

Her stats are all fives, except for intelligence.

Her intelligence is 10.

And, since her backstory and personality are constantly referenced and explained in the story, I didn't feel the need to post her biography.

Also, have you got any idea where your character should start out?

Is he in the bunker already with the other classmates? Or still out in the open?

EDIT; As for her appearance, here's a picture I drew of her.

I've used Sandra for a few stories (including the Fallout games, lol). Basically imagine this--big hips, big thighs, big everything, short red hair and blue eyes--only more realistic, and less anime-ish. I modeled her after me... mostly.

If it is ok with you, Angus will start out in school working on the heating and air system when tshtf.
Seeing as how he is a life time resident of the town and it's local "handyman" he probably came in contact with Dorian on a number of occasions. I don't plan to dwell on that because I don't know what roll Sandra's uncle has yet to play.
I may just use it as a reference in getting to the bunker.
A short introduction story and I will get to the bunker or close enough for y'all to run up on me.
ETA:
Nice artwork!
