It could be argued that this act does not say anything about discrimination of sexual preference. Not saying they are right or wrong, but gay folks are not a race.

The bible is the problem imo. It tells him how to live his life and he can not go against that

Actually the Bible is very clear on how you treat others in sin and that you are to be respectful of them, judging not them nor their sin least you be judged as well. Using the bible as an excuse for bigotry is all this is.

Totally agree, let he without sin cast the first stone.
But that is not how most carry themselves that follow the good book.
He is not the only one that uses the book for bigotry sadly

Did you find the words "All Persons" confusing? Whether "Big Earl" likes it or not gays are people too.

Exactly right it is God's place to judge not man's. The bible thumpers tend to forget this little fact from time to time.

Texas law allows this type of discrimination. They can refuse service because someone is gay. Or even disabled.

Isn't the disability act and housing discrimination act Federal?

However, I don't know the specifics of what each entails.

"Women act like ladies...." Oy vey. "Men act like men." Oh boy.

My goodness, does anyone read or study? Big Earl has spent his life in the military to defend this country and will be happy to explain the constitution to you. Earl is well versed in the Bible and Christianity, has travelled the world and is well educated....

Translation: Earl's kind of a a cranky old fart and this plethora of rationalization may or may not account for that.

It would have been nice for the full interview to have played in order to explain the background to what caused the incidence....

No it wouldn't.

My bottom line is this isn't a place and these aren't people I'd personally want to be around, so I'd avoid them. The entire thing is cringe worthy to me on so many levels, but I understand that many won't see it that way, and that's okay too...as long as my opinion is too.

Big Earl and the waitress are obviously total dicks, but the best outcome here is for the banned couple to simply move on and eat somewhere else. You have to pick your battles and there's no reason at all to fight to pay your money to foolish idiots.

Big Earl isn't as worldly as he might like to think, either.

Move on, gentlemen.

Why only address white Christians and Republicans? Are you not also addressing Black, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, Korean, Japanese, Arabic and otherwise not mentioned Christians and Republicans? What are you, a racist?

Anywhoo, I'm sure many people will now boycott this restaurant regardless of whether or not discrimination comes in to play. Happens all the time, welcome to the U S of A.

I won't be boycotting them...

There are actually other types of discrimination covered.

from source in OP-

"Since the Civil Rights Act of 1964, it has been illegal to discriminate against customers in public accommodations (such as hotels, lunch counters, or movie theaters) based on their race, color, religion, or national origin. While 17 states and many localities have enacted additional protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, Texas and the city of Pittsburg have not."

Are they "battling"? Or just creating public awareness?

We in America seem to have evolved enough these last few years, that this kind of discrimination is unfavorable to the majority.

I expect that Big Earls will feel the pressure for their antiquated thinking.

Unfortunately what matters is the manner in which their complaint is viewed by their wider community.

They can't be seen as being two whiny little gays, because if they do I can't imagine a conservative community supporting them. I'm not saying what happened wasn't wrong - it was wrong.

That doesn't detract in the least from the sad fact that life can often be a tedious public relations exercise.

that is his business how to live his life,
it is the aspect of making others live the way he thinks they should that is the problem.

No, I wasn't trying to be racist. The reason I only addressed "Them" was because I was trying to reference back to this post quoted below:

They must be tea bag people or Christians or gun owners or white folks or republicans or racists or haters of Obama or . . . . . . .

I should have pointed that out more clearly however since obviously without it being directly pointed out within that post the meaning was lost and easily read in a way that I didn't intend.

Why it is that my explanation was removed I don't have any idea but I apparently got in trouble for trying to correct my error as well as the error itself.

Hell, I may get in trouble again for this post too for all I know.

If it was as described there would be reason for being upset, but the last few of these have been b.s. and this one sounds the same. In order to believe it I have to believe that an employee assumed the personality of the restaurant and I dont.

You're message was incorrect. Almost perfect eggshell walking, but you shouldve said "what was allegedly done/said" was wrong.

My honest guess, everyone that goes into this place sees that sign walking in. So two guys decides to bring attention to themselves and now their word is majestically golden.

I have best friends that are gay, but ive also known gay guys that would grab other guys and be overly flirtatious (knowing negative reaction to it could be called out) and do things that would never accepted from a guy towards a girl publicly.

Given the prominence and wording of this sign I believe these two gents targeted the restaurant and are now getting their 5 minutes and I dont believe the waitress called them "fags" on their word.
