Cabot American Joe

Cabot makes some of the finest 1911s on the market, and their pistols are favorites among competition shooters. This year, Cabot is introducing a series of matched left- and right-handed 1911s with various themes, such as the “American Joe” set with American flag grips. But these pistols aren’t just a gimmick, they’re extremely well built.

The bad news---
Price is $7,450

Now I just got to figure out how to get my hands on 8 grand without my wife knowing ???

As nice as they look…8 freaking grand WOW…I could buy the nicest Kimber (since 1911s are the topic) and any tier one rifle I desired plus outfit them with nice optics and all the bells and whistles. Even then I bet I could still buy 500-1000 rounds for both. I just don't understand how a 1911 can be 8 grand. If we broke down the cost of materials as well as the man hours put into building and testing can't even be half of that. That being said…if you do get one I'll be u2uing you on my next trip out to Colorado lol. Oh and I'll bring some of mine as well as some tannerite!

Flash and Bling might make it pricier but doesn't make it any more reliable or deadlier.

Lose the nickel finish, laser engraving, "USA" grips and grip safety. Give me one 1 with Parkerized finish, a reliable action and crisp trigger.

Should take about 6000 off the price.

Colt, 1851, Navy Revolver.

(I wanna be a cowboy, bay-bee!)

ETA; trying to convince my wife why I need to spend 1,500.00 on it.

My goodness, i like 1911's and those definitely are the finest ive seen ever.

The machining and engraving is so obscenely precise and the finish on the metal is stunning.

Worth 7 grand? Maybe too much to buy for yourself but for a one time gift for a father or son - unparalleled in my opinion.

Id rather one of those than a car for the same money!

Well to be honest
as much as I'd like to own a custom set of matched 1911's

That's just going to have to wait until after I win the 'Power Ball'
you have to buy tickets to win that right?

I think of these the same way I do a McLaren P1

I'd love to own one...
As long as someone gave it to me--- for free--- here Dave, have a car--- and a pair of pistols while were at it!

Now leave me to get back to my sweet sweet daydreams

'Hey Lindsay Lohan--- want to go for a ride--- I'll show you my pistol!"

Ridiculous waste of money. For what? My 45 ACP daily carry will shoot just as tight a group and is pretty as well. And it will do what it needs to. It costs between $7-900.00 new.

And if youre in love with a pistol like that and aren't just talking...you need to get your priorities straight. I love Lamborghinis...but wouldnt want to own one. Why? Because with people in the world starving...I could find a 100 different better uses for that money.

And my 45 and 9mm will work just as well as this pretty one.

My daily carry is a SIG 226.

Not what I'd call pretty but I would and do bet my life on her doing what needs to be done.

But come on... Ya got to admit these pistols is 'Pretty'
Like art, like a well put together lady! Easy on the eyes.

General Patton had two Ivory handled Revolvers. Like his shiny helmet he knew that image was the most important message to convey (especially to the enemy). Image helps but its not everything. His troops did the shooting, not him.

Those grips were Ivory by the way, not Pearl.

Image is one thing--- but if I really did shell out 8 grand for this pair.
I'd have them framed and mounted, hung on a wall, afraid to get them dirty or scratched.

My SIG will still live on my hip, get tossed in the mud, rained on, showed on, spend months bouncing around in my pickup. wiped clean with a tattered old tee shirt then re-holstered and well loved like that old friend she is.

These are just for looking at--- Bragging about--- Maybe someone in a higher income bracket would see em as a working pair of pistols--- not me--- but I still want em--- just don't want to have to pay for em.

I used to travel Old West gunshows in the early 80's. The guns I could have had for peanuts that are themselves fortunes today…

Back then they were "trinkets", not worthy of actually collecting.

My wife has made it totally clear she will leave me for Adam Levine.

of course she has as much of a chance of meeting him as I do of meeting Lindsay Lohan.

Which is about the same one in a billion odds of me ever owning this pair of pistols
