A friend on Facebook posted one of his videos. And I watched before knowing who he was or what he'd done. I thought the person had posted it just to make fun of some goofy YouTube kid.

My initial impression was that it wasn't genuine. That it was some type of comic performance piece. Not only did he appear to be wearing make-up. But he kept talking about not being able to get girls, while repeatedly using the world "fabulous". It just seemed like the video of a wannabe actor. Or maybe auditioning for SNL. Even the name "Elliot Rodger" looked fake.

When I figured out who he was and what he'd allegedly done. I realized mental illness could explain some of the "fakeness" of the video. Or maybe my initial impression was correct. And these videos had been staged.

I blame society. He was dosed with psychotropic medication from a young age, like 12 or something. there's your culprit. I have personal experience with the drug he was on, and it creates a void in emotion, with violent rebound. its all very scientific, all these shooters are on psychotropics.

Yes, it seems very odd indeed. Consider this, he was in a gun control state, with heavier gun laws, and yet he was able to get a gun and 450 rounds of ammunition while on prescription drugs diagnosed with aspergers syndrome. By the way, a friend of mine with Aspergers syndrome also carried a rifle to school in high school as well. I helped him out a lot, and he is much better functioning now. I may give him a call, cheer him up to make sure he doesn't kill anyone. No joke.

I don't really believe Aspergers syndrome is a real illness, but rather a tendency for mono-obsession, which is both a good and a bad thing. If we take everything at face value, the guy had a tendency to obsess over pussy, especially blonde hair short skirt pussy. When he couldn't get the pussy, he went nuts, stabbed people, and shot a few. I think anyone on prescription medication shouldn't get a gun, period. There is medication that has homicidal side effects, and suicidal side effects. I also think that we should pursue other things besides life long medication, as it #s with the brain, and people will kill people with knives, swords, axes, bombs, chemical and biological weapons anyways, so we should get away from symptom treating psychiatric medication anyways. More research in the field of lifelong positive changes from one time or two time psychedelic or psychoactive needs to be had.

But the whole thing stinks, especially considering I have a mild background in hypnosis and NLP, and the guy looks a little tranced out, and his cadence is that of mimicking hypnotic language. I don't see the jump from 3 knife stabs, to 3 bullets to NRA very well. If he hadn't used a bullet, he would've modified a paintball gun with poison darts, and killed people. The problem isn't the guns, its the people, and what they are on. My mom is schizo bipolar,and when I lived with her, and she was having "issues" to say the least, you bet your ass I slept lightly after she asked me if I wanted to spar with steak knives.

Also the problem in this case is the father for not monitoring and doing proper research on his son, and preventing him from having a gun, or buying him a #ing hooker to ease his puberty stresses if the son is so bent out of shape from not having pussy. Jesus, I went celebate for a year when I was 19 because I was getting too much pussy. And girls kept throwing themselves at me. The problem is the person, not the gun, and if we take away guns from people, then the only ones who will have it are thugs and police, and the people will be caught in between.

Yes gun control, no to synthetic medication, yes to more research, no to high powered automatic rifles.

On a side note, the guy was foiled by a locked door? Are you kidding me? He had a #ing GUN!!!... Shoot the lock, kick it open, then go to town, #, do they think we are dumb idiots? But that was my-this stinks its a conspiracy. In the vid he is bent on killing those people in the sorority, and he KNOCKS on the door? WHAT THE #? Does a policeman knock when he wants in a drug cartels house? No, he shoots the lock,a nd busts the door down. Jesus, how dumb are people...anyways, my two cents.

It's all right there. He pretty much outlines his social awkwardness and all the lengths he went to in hopes of attracting "beautiful blonde girls." Frankly, after reading it, I think he had traits consistent with Asperger's and Narcissistic Personality Disorder and that the combination of his social ineptitude and a belief in his inherent "worthiness" exacerbated his frustration and led him to externalize and blame society and women in particular for his inability to attract a woman that met his superficial expectations.

People are eager to blame his parents, guns, Internet forums, and even society. Abnormal psychology has always existed and will continue to exist as long as the human mind does. We can minimize risk but we'll never eliminate it.

Please get your facts straight before you start a thread. Ridiculous.

The problem with his father is not the lack of research but the lack of being a father. He shouldn't have to do any of those things if he was more involved with raising him.

I'm no parenting expert but it seems that both parents and the step mother did not have a positive influence on this mans life.

I'm not going to say the blame is all on the parents but that is a big piece of the puzzle. Reportedly his father apologized in an interview because he was not around for his family while trying to improve his career. The way he writes it seems he didn't have anyone he trusted, maybe some abandonment issues, so I cant imagine his relationship with mother/step mother was great either.

Dysfunctional families can exacerbate mental issues.

This case may be exactly what the MSM and the authorities claim.

But it is disturbing that when it comes to these type of events the vast majority of people are completely willing to accept the initial story. And actually become angry when people question it. Even when there are some pretty glaring discrepancies.

This is true of very few other crimes. The world is full of armchair criminologists who entertain all range of outlandish theories about other crimes without fear of being called "loony conspiracy theorists". But not these.

For this reason, it seems reasonable for people on forums like this to allow the skeptics some space to look at these events more critically.

I saw the man's comments, and, frankly, they are nothing more than a grief stricken person pushing their own personal agenda.

This has nothing to do with guns.

This was a failure of our mental healthcare system, hands down.

The guy had shotguns for crying out loud.

I feel bad for this parent, but he needs to shut his trap.

After finding out about this I thought if anything, the point would be made that this is what a real 'psycho massacre' looks like (see sandy hook thread).
His videos and manifesto makes me think he really was just a lonely guy who it seems pushed people away through narcissism and expected girls to flock to him based on wealth and a self-proclaimed 'gentlemanly attitude'.
He is also known to have frequented sites like bodybuilding.com and several chan sites, making misogynistic and obsessive posts.

In all honesty, its probably just someone who lost it and went on a killing spree. Sometimes theres no dark secrets lurking in the shadows and I think this is one of those times.

Just a sad situation, I lived in Isla Vista for 2 years.

Dear God, do any of you even think with your minds anymore or do you just think with paranoia?

If there was ANY conspiracy do you think they'd have him film an unconvincing video? Do you think this video would have been made public? Do you think that he would've had a facebook page?

For goodness sake it seems like every time something happens someone cries a conspiracy. What is the conspiracy? To pass gun laws? Yeah, great conspiracy there.

The very reason they are trying to pass gun laws is because the elect are aware of the social changes occurring globally. If you were in a position of power and knew you were outnumbered by people who are losing their wits due to earth changes you would want to take guns away from them as well, for your own safety as well as theirs. Think about this rationally, really, step outside of your own self-imposed boxes for a moment and look at the World around us. If you can't see the signs then good luck figuring out whats next.

If he was gay it still is not about his being gay, it is still about him. On the one video he ranted about his good friend that he saw a video of with two hot blonds at a party, he said once you see you can't unsee it is there forever.

It feels like what he said is about the Man, the friend not the girls and it sounded like hurt, not jealousy. I think he covered for the fact that he cared for a guy by hating on the blonds that guy prefered.

There is an oddity among others in the connections to the movie industry, to the Hunger Games writer living in Sandy Hook...

Why must people try to find conspiracy when in reality there isn't one , just a messed up kid doing messed up stuff and messing up peoples lives.
