I read the so called Manifesto, it was a badly written pathetic piece of garbage. I thought this dude was a super intelligent alpha male? who would outlaw the bumping of genitalia. You know why he didn't get girls? because he got addicted to World Of Warcraft and stayed indoors and burnt all his bridges with friendships in favor of a video game! Im actually raging, i don't know whether this is his life story or a chronological list of games systems and the games that came out for them. I think his hatred of women comes from him being a spoilt brat, having a baby sister and then a stepmohter who shattered his little bubble. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he fantasized about her sexually while still loathing her. He had an obsession with fitting in from early child hood and over thought everything. It's certainly no manifesto it's the diary of a sad act who loved Pokemon and beanie babies but was too afraid to be himself and accept himself. I think he probably had homosexual tendencies toward a few people he talks about as well.

If only brothels were legal all over the US, maybe this kid wouldn't have snapped.

1: Rich parents, never got laid. So the first obvious thing here is that he was socially stunted, i'd bet a teste this kid wasn't allowed out much as a child, I see a child who was held to the house constantly, lived in a mansion of sorts, didn't ever have friends other than play dates, when he "acted out" having few social skills the other child was blamed an actual "friend" or exposure to social dynamics never happened. his personality was formed by TV and movies.

2: Despite being socially isolated "the intellectuals" that ran his life were obsessed with academic ability and "creativity" with zero social norms in his life he was in tandem pushed to read books way above his level, he was treated as an adult in conversations and allowed to watch movies from an exceptionally young age also way above his level all of this with out any "real world" social application. he probably was witness to adult parties and behavior from a very young age, fixated on sex before puberty had a medicine cabinet with access to drugs of his choice legal and otherwise.

3: Along with no 2 he was constantly exposed to semi radical political ideals from the kind of high brow family he had, unrealistic ideals, extreme statements, grandiose beliefs that he was expected to believe in, having parents very concerned with money they gave him little actual time despite keeping him socially isolated, his desire to please them led him to take these ideas way too seriously in order to live up to expectations in order to feel loved

4: he wasn't actually as smart as they would have liked him to be, not stupid per say but the concepts introduced to him were way over his head, they were parents who wanted to raise a "genius" and they got a mediocre boy, he struggled to be an intellectual while inwardly he just wanted to be a kid, with no social ruler to guide him he never had any idea what was appropriate and based his personality in addition to tv and movies on being smarter than he actually was which alienated people and left him without friends.

5: Having reached college with the idea in his head this would be the place where "the stupid" were finally out of his way he was shocked to find that many students were actually way smarter than him and most had social skill sets even coming from lower socioeconomic brackets that put him to shame, he expected to suddenly be "popular" that professors would embrace him and found himself worse off in many ways than before.

In short... he was raised in a way that turned him into a creep

plain ol creep, nothing fancy going on here... let your kid play in the mud, Dantes inferno isn't a book for a 4 year old, your hyper idealistic political beliefs are't dinner conversation in kindergarten, "play dates" aren't friends, the Tv is not a babysitter, unattended time on a computer will lead to massive porn exposure and unrealistic sexual expectations, being there and giving Love is more important than your career sometimes, your adult parties downstairs will be seen and heard and lock your god damn medicine cabinet...

Omg. This guy is not only INSANE, but just pathetic. Idk whether to be pissed at him or to feel sorry for the chump.

I'm pissed the police didn't do more (a social worker contacted them a week before he went on his rampage) to stop him.

There is nothing 'brave' about it. They don't care, they are cowards and know their anonymity protects them. Most women grow up living with the knowledge that there are men out there that really feel this way every day of their lives. Have a read of #yesallwomen on twitter.

This kid is plain old creepy. The way he talks, the stuff he is talking about, just creepy as hell. I have a 24 yr. old, 21 yr. old, 13 yr old & 9 yr old. Not a thing wrong with any of them. So far. They have been raised with empathy, they do charity & volunteer work for their community., have multiple jobs, honor students......I think parents need to take a more active role in their kids lives. That's what I think. I also think more parents need to stop saying, "NOT MY KID!" Nothing grates on my nerves more then parents believing they have the most perfect child in the world. You should read his manifesto. I am over half way through it and it voids most of the points you make. He had a good childhood (from his own admission) with loving parents. He was well travelled before he even hit puberty and since he attended summer school on at least one occasion (so far), his parents weren't on his arse constantly about grades.

It seems to me thus far that he had some extreme social anxiety from the very beginning. I don't see the bullying he claimed happened as being severe enough (again... so far) to cause a killing spree. In fact it was tame to say the least (yet again, so far). He perceived a lot of wrong doings as personal when it wasn't. He perceived a lot of slights as personal when they weren't slights or personal.

It appears to me that he put himself where he was by his own thoughts and his own actions. Everyone around him were just living their life and he seemed to perceive that in ways that weren't accurate most all of the time.

I am going to finish reading it, as much as it sucks simply because I started it. So far my opinion is that he perceived the entire world out to get him and had really no one to blame for it other than his own feelings of inadequacy fostered by no one other than himself.

Through his own admissions, he didn't even fully know about sex until he was around 13. He saw a glimpse of porn from a friend when he was 12 and said it terrified him. He had no clue that was what men and women did together. So being overexposed didn't occur either unless he lied in his manifesto and most of it is so embarrassing, I don't know why he would.

He shows a lot of love for his mother and father. He talks about how his mother went out of her way for him and life with her was always enjoyable. He loved his father very much as well and admired him even though he was gone a lot on business. He knew they both loved him and other than summer camp and one sleepover he admits to... he was always at home. The first time he left home to go somewhere on his own he was 17.

Unless a lot changes between now and the end of the manifesto....

He had issues, but I do not think his parents were/are what you are assuming them to be.

This guy had aspergers so its possible that women were hitting on him and he didn't pick up on it. Actually the root of his problem probably stemmed from that. It's possible he didn't understand social norms which is why in the videos he seems to be talking like he thinks life is a movie. He wasn't just a creep, there was a real medical reason why he wasn't exactly socially graceful. His writings and ramblings clearly show he was a psychopath, normal people don't think like that, even with aspergers.

Can you cite this statistic for me?

It's very curious since 1 billion is a 7th of the population of the whole planet.

For transparency sake, I believe Elliot Rodgers would be blaming some other group for being lonely if it wasn't women. I believe feminism is useful in a lot of situations, but no amount of feminism will help unstable individuals deal with rejection on any level.

That said, this statistic is very interesting to me by itself.

Yes, though people seem to continually forget this.

Apparently Rodgers had multiple therapists and his parents had contacted the police about the videos he was making, however he simply told the police if was a misunderstanding and delete the videos. If they had searched his room that day they would have found his manifesto and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

I read in an a article, if someone finds it faster than me, they might be able to tell you the link, but the persons stabbed was all male in the apartment. Whether there is any truth to that. IDK. Also to note is his manuscript of 144 pages. I read some of it and it doesn't say who told him, but apparently and, allegedly, his mother never wanted him in the first place. Her pregnancy was a mistake and that she took all these pills to kill the pregnancy, but the pills she took evidently allowed the baby to survive. Not sure on that either. His manuscript goes from birth to his ages, so he must of kept of diary of some sort. I do not even remember much of my childhood, but he was very explicit in names. Who remembers that stuff? Hope this helps. He seems very intelligent at his age through his writing and I agree that in the car, he's just acting.
