I hate to act like a traitor, but I actually prefer good pork sausage links to bacon.

What the hell? It's not progressives but a bunch of doctors. FTR I don't think banning bacon is a worthy cause, you want to eat it to death? God's speed. But this hypocrisy of yours is getting unbearable. All this crying all the time about the 1st amendment yet you sit here encouraging the very real and very dangerous practice of McCarthyism except this time it's not against communists though they're still included but progressives. It's getting beyond ridiculous.

I am a traitor as well. Prefer sausage patties over links or bacon.

Anyway, as far as the billboard sign goes..... I like it.

It is actions like this that expose these pseudo-medical groups with disingenuous names for the morons they really are. People will not see this sign and say to themselves "hey, I'm not gonna eat bacon anymore". But they will see the sign and say "those people at the PCRM are crazy".

So keep those billboards coming.

So when I speak out against a subversive ideology that tries to restrict freedoms, I'm a hypocrite?

*yawn*

Alinsky much?

I remember when I was young they came out with those ad's about pork being the "other" white meat. (implying the stuff was good for you)

Now they are complaining about it. I think doctors need to make up their minds is what I think.

Gotta love the last line of the article:

OK, precious, do you know what’s deadlier than bacon? ME. When you reach for my damn bacon.

Damn Right !!

Everything in moderation, in my humble opinion.

But if you want to eat or drink whatever you want, then you should be able to.

We all eventually die.

Avoiding certain foods or beverages or activities won't guarantee immortality, so why not enjoy the one life we all get on this tiny rock!

I agree with that. My dad died at the age of 42 years old. He was healthy, ate right, physically active, didn't smoke, no drinking... and dead at a very young age. And it wasn't bacon which killed him. My daughter, 23 years old, dead.

Any of us can die any day... if you like bacon and want it - go for it... its not any more deadly than anything else for goodness sake.

Hey Kali,

From what I can gather, the PCRM is ran by a non-practicing psychiatrist with an "agenda". There may be some medical professionals on the board, but after you read some of the material this group produces, it's obviously rooted in animal rights activism.

Not saying that is bad, but it does seem a bit disingenuous to hide their true intentions behind medicine and nutrition.

I prefer any kind of sausage over bacon. Chewing off my own fingers, too.

I'll never understand this country's "culture" unless I understand it totally already which would be sad. Go to any other country in the world and there are traditions, traditional foods, traditional clothing, things that distinguish them from other countries.

This country's culture seems to be nothing more than fads. Granted, there are TV shows and pseudo intellectual movies that people cling to but it seems to mostly be about food. Starbucks, chipotle flavored anything, wasabi anything, nachos (the staple of the teenage diet when I was in high school... You know, with the paper boats and the "cheese" dispenser loaded with that silver bag of "cheese"), hot sauce, anything and everything with bacon. Most recently in the northeast it's "Southern Style" anything the marketing people can slap it on. Annoying and pathetic to say the least.

That being said, banning bacon or anything else for that matter is no one's business. Well... Smoking and drug use in public, along with drunkenness are alright with me though it annoys me when a security guard comes to bitch at me in a parking lot when I'm finishing my cigarette in my car with the windows up. Other than that, let people be gluttons, bacon eaters, *GASP* trans-fats eaters... Maybe throw a pamphlet at them about their triple bacon cheeseburgers with extra large fries and without fail DIET soda. Or just aspartame, high fructose corn syrup and the dangers of obesity. Not like anyone that eats that crap will read it will care but at least you're warning them.

But you'll only be able to take my bacon when you can pry it from my cold, dead, greasy hands!

The bacon you eat (or if you eat hot dogs at the ballpark) might actually be made from cold, dead, greasy hands. The hands of a baby hog! /runs screaming while contemplating man's inhumanity to non-man/

Bacon wrapped shrimp-kebobs. It's what's for dinner. There will also be loose women and consumption of alcohol. I am doing my part to maintain a culture despised by certain religious cults. Sheer hedonism will win!

Those that desire bacon will always be welcome at our small settlement outside of Winterfell.

Those that look to remove the bacon-freedom that we all enjoy will feel the steel of the Iron Skillet!

Not sure now if the thread can drift-- little frame of reference after
Des' to some intermediate act of affection. God's sake lady, we poor
guys are only flesh and fat. Nose down.more throttle we're losin' 'er.

Does Sodium help for womanopause cold flashes? Maybe the UN General
Assembly could use a spare ton instead of the Tofunazis. Win-Win...
oh wait, the UN already made personal veggie production illegal. NM.

Presently listening to DeathFM: Serpentcult, then Bathony-- mentally
toying with wierdocide. Just kidding. The latter do though sound kind
of like Queensryche only a lot louder-- with Davy Jones singing after
gargling some huge, sharp agricultural accessories. Twice. THEN bacon.
How's THAT for thread drift darlin?

There's nothing subversive about Progressivism any more than there is about American Libertarianism or Conservatism. There are individuals or groups within all ideologies that are subversive. I'm sure there's plenty of Progressives that love bacon, that love getting bacon at ballparks or wherever it is that this group of DOCTORS wishes to impede on people's individual rights to eat whatever they want. But this sort of rhetoric, this changing of the focus to a partisan issue through baiting? You've only hurt your cause by alienating would be supporters with your irrational hatred.

Okay but again we are painting something with a broad ideological brush that isn't accurate. Animal rights activists exist in the whole political spectrum. Some animal rights groups are political and are clearly left of center, but all of them? No way.

First to the thread. Anything like what swam is a whole lot more
scrutinized by yours truly lately--- for some obvious reasons. And
if it smells like shrimp, I'm not going to consider a bacon wrap...
maybe a nice fox stole just to P-off the animal activists. Here honey

Outstanding.. and the deck band seems to have at least one
guy with an AC-30000. That's a whole lota twelve inch Goodmans
tearing spacetime in one spot. Brian may back off from that rig....
Too late, the guitarist seems to have already devolved. Damn.

It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, it's how fun the game.

Haha, I wonder if the 'ban bacon' brigade are the same people who want the sweets/candy /chocolates moved from the checkouts because weak crap parents don't know how to regulate the energy intake of their kids.
Or maybe it's victim mentality fat people who can't admit that they just eat too much and do too little.
Always someone else's fault...pathetic.

lol... I know this is off topic, but I'm seriously curious... can you please site which animal rights group has a right wing ideology?

They might be more easily recognized as Conservationists. Now I'm sure that it's all but impossible to find a right wing vegetarian group that is against eating meat, however there are a lot of hunter groups that are very much against industrial beef, pork, chicken etc... and cite inhumane as at least partially why. But most I would say, are focused on animal shelters.
