There was another thread on this which was taken down. I do not know what happened in that thread for it to be removed, and I think this issue deserves more attention. The masses need to weigh in on this, so I will attempt to remake the thread. My apologies to the original poster who had his thread removed (Eryiedes)

There is a Google cashed copy of the page here: webcache.googleusercontent.com...:EIodhTncMKYJ:www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread1013824/pg1%26mem%3D+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&cl ient=seamonkey-a

The Defense Department said Monday it is looking at expanding its application pool by letting some young illegal immigrants join the military, in what could be another tool for an Obama administration seeking unilateral steps to take on immigration reform.

Immigrant rights advocates are pleading with the Pentagon to declare “dreamers” to be vital to the national interest, which would allow them to enlist in the military under a special program that grants non-immigrants a quick pathway to citizenship in exchange for years of military service.

Only those with key medical or language skills qualify, and Spanish is not deemed a critical language

More at the Link above.

I strongly disagree with this. I feel if people willfully commit the criminal act of entering into this contry illegally that shows they do Not respect the principles this nation was founded on and therefore have no right to be in My countries Military.

But it goes deeper than that. These people will wind up with VA benefits and all the other perks afforded to American citizens and that is Not right at all. You don't give someone a free pass and benefits even for being a criminal. There are Tons of Americans who do have these medical and second language skills, no need to use the criminals and give our benefits away to them. That's outright disgusting.

Why they are considering this.. I can only imagine they aren't getting the enlistment they want and these people can be forced to do anything the government wants because the government will have them over a barrel.

What do you guys think?

Please be civil.. though I see nothing in the cashed copy of the older thread that would cause the mods to remove the thread - I don't want this thread removed.. these are too important not to be discussed. Kudos to Eryiedes for his original post.

Heh, sure why NoT ! they don't want young patriots in the military these days . because they are getting wiser and harder to brain wash . ..
And most likely won't fire on american civilians ... .
But I bet some "others" wouldn't have a problem pulling the trigger. Let's hope they don't recruit cartel Hench men .
*cough*

Just saying.... SMH

I don't like it at all. What kind of crap is that? We are pretty much saying "Here is a free pass, as long as you put your life in danger, follow my orders to the T, and don't ask questions, you can be a citizen"

We already have too many people in the USA. I don't have a problem with illegal immigrants who get fake ID/cards or whatever, as long as they follow the laws, but we are baiting them.

How many people will purposely get caught now? How many extra will come?

Here squared, John. F&S. We've been doing this for a long
time-- and in fact have recruiting offices in other countries
as well, Example, Manila.
I wonder what the Pentagon will do next to keep from going
to another round of conscription. It seems, from my feedback
among my old friends to be about as popular as a fart in church.

They will be collateral damage. They know and won't enlist, their parents won't let them.

I think our military is fine on its own, not trying to sound racist, but are some illegal aliens going to make our military better or worse? I don't think most of them would fight as hard, or as well. It isn't just about shooting guns anymore, there is a lot more going on. Plus, will they fight as hard for our country as we do? Maybe for the numbers, it's be a good backup plan if we are invaded by China or something. a reply to: JohnPhoenix

It seems similar to the French Foreign Legion...only that the US is looking at publicly recruiting 'illegal aliens'.

I don't see a problem with them getting benefits after retiring from active service for the US. After all, they would be recruited, and they would be supporting your country. Why shouldn't they get benefits? In France, ex legionnaires get French citizenship and other stuff for stepping up to the plate and fighting for their country...it should be no different in the US.

Heck, you don't even need to be a full-fledged US citizen to get into the US military...as long as one has a legal place of residence within the states, they are generally able to seek recruitment. The only difference in this case, is that the military will be seeking out illegal immigrants with specialist knowledge.

I don't see a problem.

Mornin',

Cheers, mate.
I thought it seemed important as well.
Couldn't tell you what happened though.
I just came home and saw it was 404'd.
Somebody must have gotten their panties in a twist.

The US military has recruited foreign nationals for a long time......
It is a way or avoiding drafting their own.....as well as giving the military some skills that are in short supply but are needed .
When you have so many troops spaced out around the world.....soldiers who speak the local languages as well as know the local customs, are a godsend.
I just hope they don't end up recruiting any el CIAda or other enemy combatants who may turn on the troops at a later date....

There is no reason to do this. It is a political ploy, that is it.

Bringing in illegals into the US military is not a good idea. The recruitment numbers are still strong for all branches.

Again, there is no reason to do this.

This is just another ploy for the Obama administration to try to implement immigration reform by sidestepping Congress. The military for many MOS's and jobs has waiting lists for applicants, they don't need to do this. And even if they WERE having enlistment issues, there is always a draft. Don't pretend for a second that this is being done to bolster military effectiveness.

This seems like traitorous behavior on the US gov's part. Not surprising. I don't see how they can do this legally, though. An illegal invader is a criminal and shall have no rights in America. If The US goes through with it then arrest warrants should be issued for all those who participated in it and enforced by the US military. It's obvious what they're trying to do.

By definition, how can any of them even hold a classified clearance? They have committed multiple felonies by coming here, staying here and working.

This is one of the most moronic offerings from the admin yet, in regards to the Military.

Let me say this. I am an American citizen by naturalization. I've been a citizen for less than a couple of years. Been in the Army a little over 2 years. Deployed to Afghanistan. But the idea of having illegal immigrants, who could be infiltrators, in the ranks next to me is NOT something I can get behind.

This absolutely cannot be allowed to happen.

They wouldn't...non-citizens are ineligible for a security clearance.

I think it's just a "feel good" ploy for the pro Illegal crowd.

All the services are downsizing and cutting back, standards are more stringent. They require more than just a pulse now.

That is what I am getting at.

With today's military, it would be hard to get any MOS without even a Classified Clearance.

If soldier ever had order to fire on civilians which I agree is far fetched and something we hopefully never see but wouldn't having illegal immigrants in the army make it easier for those orders to be carried out? Its one step away from having a foreign army operate on your soil.

If Obama believes so strongly in "dreamers" maybe he should replace his entire secret service security with them.
Oh, he doesn't trust them quite that much.

Giving guns to felons while trying to take them from law-abiding citizens is Obama's style.
Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he tried to push this through or signed an EO making it all nice and "legal". ::cough::

When you say the principals of which your country was founded on you mean the HUGE AND MASSIVE IMMIGRATION OF FOREIGNERS which is how your country became filled with the people who MADE your country right?
