No its not this is Congress fault for not working on and passing immigration reform. But I guess walls and snipers for 12 year olds is not palatable in a election year when republicans can't get even 10% of the Latino vote.

Naww.

It's non-enforcement and selective enforcement by the current Administration.

That's what gets votes. All at the expense of the American public taxpayers.

Every young person in Latin America is coming to try for a better life. - See more at: www.abovetopsecret.com...

I believe that once they get here, experience the warm welcome of the authorities and see what is happening in the US...They'll be returning home where they will realize that they never should have left.

Peace

There is nothing on that Statue of Liberty saying that people can come in illegally. There are entrance quotas set up for a very good reason. Too many people coming in, most without any kind of working skills, can seriously effect the economics of the country and be detrimental. If people follow the immigration laws, they are welcome to come in.

That's demonstrably untrue. The four acts I cited above were 100% based on country of origin and more importantly, ethnicity. In 1965, Congress passed the Immigration and Nationality Act which abolished nation based quotas but implemented hemisphere based quotas (Western Hemisphere 120,000 per year, Eastern Hemisphere 170,000).

Current policy is to let in 675,000 permanent immigrants per year and over 2/3 of these are from family-based immigration. source

That seems to be a common thing for some politicians - sociopathic tendencies.

Mexico is such a dangerous place now I won't even visit anymore. I'm wondering if most of these kids aren't from Mexico but saying they are from elsewhere due to some coaching on the laws here. I wouldn't blame them. I always try to see things through another's eyes. If I were the parent of a child who was hungry everyday, and who was more likely to be drafted by a cartel or pimp than to eat enough to fill their stomachs, I too would risk it.

What we should do is loan some of our troops to that Country. Enough to eradicate the problem. It's our neighbor for crying out loud. Their well being will impact our well being if one needs to be self serving to some degree. I realize crime will pop up over and over again but keep putting out those fires so these people can build their communities back up, and have a fighting chance. I'm baffled on why this hasn't been done - as aggressive as we have been overseas. And if it has to do with resources, they have lots of those too. Priorities are just messed up.

Yes.A hundred years ago when when the country was young and expanding westward. Now the party is over, the cities are full, hospitals have gone bankrupt treating illegals and some ats smucks are going to cite the statue of liberty? Please stfu or open up your homes and take in as many illegals as you want.In other words aside from throwing crap on a website you will do nothing to help anyone.
Edit:Btw,Mexican children when caught crossing the border with pounds of marijuana taped to them aren't even arrested when caught. They are sent home where the parents pretend they had no idea.

What !!

I know you can prove that with genuine facts and statistics.

Also include the criminals released and not deported yet.

Sorry....But that is just laughable.

He changed the rules. They are now counting turn backs.

We are way past the Statue of Liberty.

We are at full on invasion numbers. It's a serious problem.

I have compassion for the People.

We do not have the jobs or resources to support these poor people.

Actually, the illegal immigrant population peaked in 2007 at about 12 million and has dropped by a million or so since then. About two-thirds of illegal immigrants in this country have been here ten or more years.

Pew Research

I'm familiar with what you're saying but the numbers I cited did not include voluntary returns. While voluntary returns have been steadily declining (people stopped at the border and turned back) since the Clinton administration, the number of removals has steadily increased. That's where the 2 million deported figure comes in (removals). These trends have been going on for years:

source

So when you put it all together: there are less illegal immigrants than in 2007, more removals and less returns at the border. The dropping number of voluntary returns is because less people are trying to cross the border which is unfortunately probably more to do with our recession and "jobless recovery" than anything else though I imagine increased border security from the Bush administration on (including under Obama), economic improvement in some Latin American countries and an increasingly punitive removal processes are also important factors.

The Chinese have been trying to purge as many foreigners from their land as possible, so you don't have to feel sorry for them too much.

Anyway, I don't know why it's so difficult for these countries to tell their people to stop having so many kids(two at the most, and none if you can't even keep yourself afloat). All it takes is one text message, one e-mail or TV channel, anything, and so many problems would be solved.

So if the United States can only fit so many people (for economic and other reasons) do legal requests for immigration, such as that from China above, decline as there is clear awareness of an illegal immigration problem? Meaning, is illegal immigration impacting the ability to fill quotas on legal immigration?

No matter what the reason one gives for entering America illegally, they are still entering ILLEGALLY. Knowing the money that some of these people pay to human traffickers to get them across the border, they could easily spend a fraction of that money and attempt to enter legally. Why do so many not choose this route? They know they are breaking the law, otherwise they wouldn't try to "sneak" in. They know they cannot just walk up to the border and enter, thus they choose to do it illegally.

There is an epidemic in America of undocumented workers. And how do these people get government benefits? I have personally witnessed this, and I have witnessed something else that disturbs me greatly...Families receiving government money every month, probably a significant amount, for doing nothing, and then the family members will work, illegally, not paying taxes or having the income documented, thus they are making boatloads of money. Again, ILLEGALLY. So the problem is not just crossing the border, it is what happens AFTER they cross the border.

It is utterly ridiculous. People don't have sympathy for people who break other laws. The law is the law. If all this were okay then it would probably not still be illegal. It is illegal for a reason. And like I said, the majority do not even attempt to enter legally. They know they are breaking the law, which brings up an important point...

Why would any American want someone new coming to their country when their first act in this country was illegal? Obviously they have no respect for the law, and that is not the kind of people we want entering the country. And then Americans are labelled as "culturally insensitive" when they complain about Mexican flags being flown in the US, as a simple example. So one leaves their country and enters the US illegally, but apparently is still brimming with patriotism for their mother country...it is just that they don't want to live there.

Who created the war zone in Mexico, Central America, and even South America? Who armed and augmented the criminal drug traffikers and their murder? Who continues the human and sex traffiking of even very young children and infants?

I think you need to look at the CIA, and the elite in this case - of which holder and the current and past american administrations are part of.

I am not a liberal - I am a conservative and a christian -

Are these "children" actually "children" of the children who have been prostituted out by our gov't? Why else would they be able to just "show up" - mostly unharmed, when anyone in their right mind would be able to visusalize just what these children had to "walk through" to end up on the american side?

Really, people - get a clue.

So you think these are trafficked children who the government is allowing to slip through so rogue groups can take and traffic? Are you saying they are being trafficked in in plain sight and the government agents will get a kick back? Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I am not sure I would agree with either of these because trafficked children are not dealt with by groups such as the CIA. The CIA has many employees. To be in on something like that all would have to be traffickers. That isn't happening.

Trafficked children are definitely used by government and justice officials, as well as law enforcement (sexual disease doesn't discriminate). But they would never get into this business directly; they would never risk it. These individuals have connections to children through highly trusted sources, and if those sources get busted (which they don't), they won't tell of the clientele unless they want to die. There is more to it but if I'm understanding you right, I would say don't worry about that being the case with these kids. They are making it into the States for some other reasons, likely assisted at least most of the way by those who want them to have a better life.

Wonder if I would have the guts to send my child to another country without me? I know my grandmother was sent to the US from Germany back in WWII all of sixteen years old and arrived here alone...there must be a reason. Apparently, for some those reasons still exist today. Legal or not, what would any of us do for our child to offer them something better?
