Want to know whats in the Patriot Act 2?

but seriously, this is very frigtening. seems like the star wars imperial march theme should be playing while reading that.

Maybe it would help if Hollywood could make a movie demonstrating how horrific the act can get with a corrupted gov, or even a few out of control people in power.
Then release the movie early enough for all to see before the bill goes up.

My husband probably would not agree to move to NZ, unfortunately. Guess we'll have to tough it out here in America.

I think that this 2nd Patriot Act will not pass through the house or senate without there being a massive terror attack... the govt will say that its the only way to stop the terrorists.

There are other ways to stop terrorism...

#1 Shut down the "illegal" immigration at our borders, specifically from Mexico, which is where the next terror attack will come from.

#2. Say sorry to the muslims, leave their countries and let them go back to the peaceful way of life they had before we taught them WAR... and we did teach it to them.

#3. Forget about Political Correctiveness... this is a war against a specific "race" of people... Therefore if the Patriot Act only applied to Muslims then we wouldn't feel that the liberties that this act takes away would apply to us

Does this remind anyone of what Hitler did to come to power in Germany? Remember it was HIS NAZI Party that lit the German "Parliment" on Fire and Blamed it on the Soviets... then the German "Congress" voted to give him "emergency" powers...Didn't prescott bush support hitler's rise to power? Maybe GW is using one of his grandpappy's ideas.

If this passes I will move out and go to Mexico for the next couple years. No other nation in the world worth going to would even take me.

I have an Idea. If each of us reads and copies a section of this that we find to be excessivly taking away our rights. Then, we E-mail this section to 5 other people, and ask them to do the same. We really need to get the wors out about this public oppression that is trying to be forced upon us through this bill. Anyone that wishes to help with this idea, fell free. I only ask that you post what section that you choose so it doesnt get duplicated.

What type of legislation is being passed there? Can you provide a link? Im curious to see just how similar they are. If you guys are having a similar bill up for vote, this could be bad news for every free nation in the world.

Oh, this bill will pass. Make no mistake. And why will it be passed? Because we have no control over the government anymore. Furthermore, the government doesn't even care if it's obvious that they don't do what the public wants. Once this is passed, you can bet your @ss that it'll never be repealed. They never give you more freedom, they only take it away.

Our equivilent legislation here in the UK is considered to be The Civil Contingencies Bill.
There has been a lot less debate over the implications of the bill here, but I remember the day it was discussed in the House Of Lords, someone had a letter published in the Mail warning it was the first step towards a dictatorship. I find it quite dubious that this bill has been sneaked through the parlimentary back-door without any public debate or discussion, while at the same time the public have been bombarded by the media with (non)issues like fox hunting and Blunkett's private life.

You mean the Republicrats. Kerry supported the Patriot Act as well.

Come to think of it, when I saw that third-party candidate debate a couple months ago, they had candidates from the Constitution, Libertarian, Green, and Socialist Parties. Interestingly enough, all of them were against the Patriot Act.

Most every person in the government supported the patriot act without even reading it. Republican and Democrates alike. Its not quite the same with the Patriot act 2 though. This thing is being blasted out of the water by every non-Neocon who reads it. The thing is, the only time I have ever heard anything about this bill is when people are complaining about it like Im doing now. I have never even heard anyone from the Government step up and defend this bill. Not one. They dont even care if we know about it. They dont care if most people think its a bad idea. They will impliment the bill because thats what they want. They meaning the Government.
