Good morning, afternoon and evening ATS --

I stumbled across this photo gallery of amazing stone sculptures by a Japanese artist named Hirotoshi Itoh.

Hirotoshi Itoh graduated from Tokyo National Fine Arts University in 1982 and later went into his family business as a stonemason. He spent several years working with metal before turning his attention to stones. He utilizes stones found in a river bank near his home, to create sculptures that juxtapose the original shape and hardness of the material with surprising humor and texture.

The attention to detail is mind-blowing. Enjoy!!

Amazing sculptures! There are no limits to the creative mind. Some bordered on disturbing, making them even more amazing as far as I'm concerned.

The ones with teeth and eyeballs went off the chart for me.

Thank you for finding this treasure trove of eye candy...

Thanks for posting these. I really like this this type of art and I don't get a chance to see many sculptures like these. I'm so glad that when people find something unusual like this post it for the rest of us to enjoy also. Star for you!

Those are FANTASTIC!

I'm so totally wowed by these sculptures and I want one badly (or probably more correctly, want to try and create one myself).

I agree with Johnny that it makes me want to own one. What creativity is displayed, and with rock no less. I just love stuff like that. Thanks, OP. That was really great.

In the second link the Google images I saw two images of a Swiss army knife but with stone age tools, one image with the tools all extended, and one with it closed and they are held closed by a leather strap. not sure if this was the same guy but that was awesome I think he did make it you guys gotta see that it's pretty cool!

Its beautiful work yet dam creepy at the same time. For some reason they remind me of H R Giger's works, only in stone!

Absolute astonishing!
