communism with a way to control cronyism and greed is pretty much a perfect plan. The human nature aspect corrupts it, but not near as bad as capitalism.

Imagine honest communism with free college. The smartest students get the career choices at the higher spectrum and the best schools to enable them to fly high. Such as surgeons, doctors, scientists, etc. No way no how should some spoiled rich under achiever be allowed into the top echelon schools.

Having people free to choose the career field of their choice without having to consider the disgusting aspect of "i want to be something that pays good" of " Im gonna be a so and so because they make bank".. Not good.
There are many people that have talents and dreams that go into something OTHER than their passion due to the salary in their desired career. I have met so many unhappy people that waste away doing something they HATE just because it pays better. And I have met many others who after decades of doing something they hated, change careers into following their dreams. And they are happier.
There is no way in H-E-!-! that some banker should have a better paycheck than an elementary school teacher. Being exposed to young minds is an honor and should be respected.
Just like no trust fund baby should have more money than 20 blue collar honest workers. Not at ALL>

And with technology we could have such an awesomely rewarding life. Imagine where say for example that instead of 1 guy working 50/hrs wk in a factory and 3 guys unemployed. The four of them each work one day a week at the factory. And the compensation was similar to what the one guy made.

The problem with businesses are that the only thing chased is the money. WHY ARE WE ALL BEING LED AROUND LIKE DOGS FOLLOWING A TREAT?> when will we understand we are ALL slaves to the ELites?

Unless you can eat whatever you choose, buy whatever car you want, travel wherever you want when you want, build the house of your dreams, why should MILLIONS spend their whole lives working so HUNDREDS can do these things>?

Ayn Rand was an idiot.

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to venture to guess you lack proof of your statement.

Atlas Shrugged authored by Ayn Rand, might have been 1,200 pages, filled with repetitive and mundane points. In addition, who in their right mind would spend 60 pages on a farewell speech? Her story may have been more beneficial if there were a shortened down version for those who dislike reading. There are some rather clever quotes within. She wrote this book based on some life experiences that she had. Written in the mid 50's, this book was heavily criticized for various reasons. The book has many factors against its favor. None of these constitute labeling someone an idiot.

Everyone's real beef with varying ideologies such as communism, socialism or capitalism, do not lie within the ideology itself near as much as it is with the corruption it invites. Ingenuity cannot be foster with heavy regulation, and corruption cannot be eradicated with regulation. There are no free-market models which include a functional honor system.

Atlas Shrugged is in movie form for those who care not to read 1,200 pages. Part 1 & 2 are complete and can be viewed in on-demand streaming. I'm told that part 3 is scheduled to be completed this summer (2014). There is even a biography documentary on Ayn Rand worth watching. Understand the whole story before labeling her an idiot.

In regards to the relevancy to this thread... the plot within "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand is heavily themed with businesses being forced to close due to regulation. Many business owners chose to quit because the didn't know what else to do. Some quit to escape the flaws of the system. Fairness was mandated. Patents and rights had to be relinquished. I don't believe that we're far off mark from what she wrote about.

Do yourself a favor... read it or watch it before you declare me wrong.

I will address no more of your reply to my post than this...
Since you have chosen to "inject your own words" into my statement, and call them mine, I count no more of your statements worth consideration, review or comment.

What you are doing is what politicians do best in this country. You are evading the valid points I have brought up. You are trying to get off on some sort of "technicality" with my words to dodge the question. Serious question for you: "Are you involved with the Republican Party?" (or any campaigning for politics or involved in any way shape or form with politics at all, but I better be crystal clear since you don't seem to comprehend good english, "politics" how the average person would understand)?

I said this,

I am glad you take such a cynical view on humanity. [Way] to discount all the doctors, researchers, and lawyers who have chosen those fields for the greater good.

I did not say you "discount 'ALL' doctors, researchers, and lawyers." How do you get that from what I said? There are a handful of doctors, researchers, and lawyers who did NOT pick their career to, as you said, "fill their pockets with gold." In fact, some of them have even taken a vow of poverty.

The point that I was making, which you are evading, is why do we need capitalism in order for people to do "good"? Why can't people just do "good" for the sake of doing "good"?

You call yourself (the reincarnation/s of) God, Jesus, Solomon, etc... ?

Has nothing to do with this thread.

Can't even deal honorably with another (mere) human...?

Actually, you are the one being dishonorable. Instead of addressing the valid flaw I pointed out with your reasoning, you use an ad hominem attack.

and nothing in my statement implied such a sentiment.

If I misunderstood you, then I am sorry. I was merely taking your viewpoint to its natural conclusion. Remember, you have to keep things in context.

I said that we are producing more businessmen and women than we are doctors, lawyers, and researchers. You replied that thanks to capitalism we are producing "more" of those than we could otherwise ever hope to do so. In other words, you take a cynical viewpoint on humanity that people will only choose to do "good" if their "pockets" will be filled with "gold."

I was calling you out on this, and bringing to your attention, "What about all the doctors, researchers, and lawyers who choose these fields for the greater commoner good?" I assumed I am talking to someone who is educated, and it should go without saying, but I will say it anyways, "How did they come to desiring to do good when they don't care about the gold?" And this also begs the question, "What did society do right to produce those citizens who want to do good without a lust for 'gold,' and what is society doing wrong that all the others are only doing good for 'gold'?"

So I am very sorry for assuming that you were intelligent, but only misguided. I won't make that assumption again when communicating with you.

Who would be 'cynical about humanity'... more ...than one who falsely accuses others of thoughts, intents and words...to deceitfully further an argument?

I did no such thing. And you would be more cynical than I since you used cheap political tricks in replying to me. Your post contributed nothing to this thread, and it would have been better if you simply did not reply.

If you are going to reply, please address the valid points I brought up. If you are just going to use cheap political tricks, then have some respect for this website, and PM me that.

Well-said. What you just proposed would put an end to this problem of businesses being destroyed faster than they are being created. Or in the alternative, people would at the very least have jobs that are both mentally rewarding and financially rewarding. (That is to say, "reverse" communism might not solve the problem of disappearing businesses, but it would definitely solve the problem of disappearing jobs.)

H E L L O!

This is a charged subject, and we expect charged posts, however ............. why make it personal??

A discussion is the core of what ATS is about. Please, feel free to discuss and challenge others' views, but if you make it a personal attack, your posts will be actioned. It's pretty simple. Have fun, discuss, post on-topic and belay the insults and don't make it personal.

Carry on.
