With the capability to intercept every digital communication sent over the internet or telephone it’s no surprise that Big Brother is pushing to further expand its role in the lives of Americans.

Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) is proposing a new bill that would send government web bots across the internet looking for hate speech or material allegedly determined to be advocating or encouraging “violent acts.” Once identified, the Congressman wants reports to be disseminated to Congress so that they can monitor, control and potentially criminalize thoughts and expressions deemed by an unknown panel of government bureaucrats to be hateful.

After the leaks from Edward Snowden, it's now public knowledge that the software/hardware is now available for this to happen.

EDIT: not sure how ATS mods view the source but not seen anything detrimental about the site on here before.

I think it has always been if you put out true hate speech mixed with some threats, the suit's would show up on your door step. Now I think what they are gathering and watching is how the people are reacting to this strongly socialist administration.

This is all about control of the people and what they talk about out of fear they will stop the division and unite to put a stop this corrupt government.

We still have the right to impeach and recall, if we the people used it we could put a very big monkey wrench in the way the politicians are acting, they work for us believe it or not...at least they used to.

Yeah. That's not crazy or anything. It's not like context matters. Just scan for a blacklist of bad words and drop the banhammer. Totally rational thing to do.

I think it will start as hate speech against racism, LGBT and other ethnic groups but in time it will include being against the TPTB, government and will also include sites like ATS.

TPTB want complete control over the sheeple.

Man you can tell the liberal democrats are pretty scared at public opinion. I find it amusing that they are desperately trying to curtail constitutional freedoms just because people are starting to see through their BS. Same goes for both factions really, whenever people rise up, they are swift to try and destroy opposition.

Since it is on internet censorship and people need to know on the internet (and can take action on the internet) .
Censorship in MSM is already in place.

This is very worrisome if it does have any kind of real steam to it at all. We really could be looking at the beginnings of stamping out dissent if this passes, even in a reigned in amended form.
