The amount of white nationalist on this website is starting to rival that of stormfront and godlike creations.

So you toss absurd insults but fail to address the topic. Okay ... how about you give it a try, eh? Why is it okay for Charles Barkley and Jay Z to make public statements that are racially negative in nature, but it's not okay for the old white guy to make a private negative racial statement to his fluffy-bunni exgirlfriend?

Because Charles is pointing out the obvious. The NBA IS predominantly Black. Old white guy wasn't pointing out the obvious. Unless his point was to prove that he's a racist. If that was the point Mission Accomplished.

You havent addressed the topic yourself.
Youre coming to the rescue of a slaver mentality nba owner in a predominantly black sport.
Obviously I would suggest you seek some sort of counseling as it seems the topic of white nationalist being exposed bothers you.

Rich people make a scene, poor people are each other;'s throat.
In the end the rich stays rich, we get a slight misdirection so we can continue on our peasant life.

I always wonder why i take notice of these stories anyway, must be my human side.

Nope. I"m asking a question ... and you still haven't answered it. Deflection.
Answer the topic question.

Slaver mentality?

What does the average NBA player earn? Huffington Post

Uh, it is $5.15 million dollars.... hardly slaves.

There are black racists. I don't know of any anti-racist, anti-defamation, anti-semetic groups that claim racism is a white people thing. People claiming that there's a concerted effort to only allow white people to be labeled racist, are completely out of touch with reality and generally need a binky (confirmation bias via Rush, FOX etc) to remind themselves that they're oh so persecuted (aka no one's tolerating their BS anymore).

Is Charles Barkley racist? Maybe. He never seemed like a nice guy to begin with so it's possible. However, everything he said in that discussion was valid he had very good points on the semantics of it all, boycotting vs the players playing... all good stuff, and his point about race is also valid... what in the hell is a person who doesn't think his gf/ex-gf should be seen with black people doing owning a sports team in a predominantly black sport? This is a person in a position of authority with economic power over other people. Knowing how he feels about black people, in a sport where retired players are rich enough and know the game so well they easily can make careers in the management, coaching and /gasp ownership aspects of the game? Barkley is right, something needs to be done about it.

All that said... I don't think saying "It's a black league" is racist in the context of everything else he said in his commentary and this is false equivalency.

What statement did Charles Barkley make that was racially negative in nature?

We are bigger slaves that we pay so much money to watch any sports events. They are a multi-billion dollar business.

I only watch if my friends force me to, i rather save the money and get something for myself.

I dunno...I do see quite a bit more "White Man's Burden" since 2008 on ATS...I was a lurker back then, but race came back into the news when a half-white president was elected. The old specters came out from cobwebbed attics to make for awkward family holiday conversion and heated debates at college keggers.

This white guy says that golf is predominantly white. Charles proves it:

So you think it's just poor wording on his part? That he was really saying the NBA is predominantly black ... and that he wasn't being bigoted by calling it 'a black league, a black league'. Okay. If you see it that way, then that's how you see it.

Old white guy wasn't pointing out the obvious. Unless his point was to prove that he's a racist. If that was the point Mission Accomplished.

You see him telling his fluffy-bunni ex-girlfriend to stop hanging out with the black guys and to stop sleeping with them and stop rubbing his face in her conquests as racist? Okay ... if you see it that way, then that's how you see it.

I think the owner is a bigot. Yes. But I also see why he said what he did to the girlfriend. She was flaunting the men in front of him. I also see some double standard going on. It's okay for JayZ (Nets owner) to show up in anti-white bling ... but it's not okay for the old white guy to have a private conversation.

I guess people will see what they see ...

I can't really argue with that. It's addicting and it costs so much. It's not 'slavery' but dang ...

Don't play. It's right there in the thread title. "It's a black league, it's a black league". If a white person says 'it's a white league, it's a white league' you know youd be all over it. He COULD have been saying that it's predominantly black .. and that would be correct. But that's not the wording he used. Or he COULD have been saying it's for black people and he could be dismissing the white players, workers and owners. THAT is the wording that was used.

If an owner in the NHL came out and made racial comments about white people, and, a former player came out and said "its a white league", I highly doubt it would be considered a racist comment.

He was speaking of the demographic of the league. And he's right. Its a black league.

I can't believe we are making an issue out of this. You guys are really really reaching. Post like these are created to misdirect energy that should be invested towards the real problem. There is no way it can be "a black league" the way you guys are putting it. Most of the owners are white!!! You guys know deep in your hearts you guys are reaching with this one. But its funny post like these bring all of the undercover racist out of the wood works.

It's not hard to understand that Black people are very good at Basketball and do occupy a majority of the players. There are some white players also and people from other nations but Black people do produce the most NBA players and I think his statement has been taken out of context.

Butcher GUy

Remember when there were pushes to make sure there were enough 'people of color' in the front offices of the NFL?

You act like this is the cause. The reason this took place is something that is ignored. That was the effect not the cause. I bet you are the type to wonder why there is a BET. BET is the effect, black people not being welcomed, permitted, allowed to do whatever it is they please was the cause. Just an example.

Why is it okay for Jay Z and Charles Barkley to say things like this in public but the white guy gets jumped on for a private conversation. Feel free to address the topic ...

Your still on the old Jay-z thing. The funny thing, people like you are easily offended by nothing. You are twisting things. Jay-z never said anything. Jay-z doesn't speak ill on the same people he will hire.

You guys try to reverse this racism thing and its played out. Blacks have never been, in modern history, in a position to say who can do what, when, where and how. You guys have amnesia and its disgusting. An insolent comment or medallion does not equal to a public lynching, a church bombing, or a team owner saying he doesn't want his gf to bring certain people to his games or to associate with them in public.

1. I've heard MANY people say things like "Hockey is a white sport", even though there are black players. No one ever cried about it.

2. Barkley said that the overwhelming majority of the players are black. It's true. 78% is an overwhelming majority. It's not like he said something BAD about the white players.

the comment above should be read over and over again. Grow up ats'ers. Guys are so racist here, I come here to get away from that. I just want to learn about real ATS stuff.

Well they don't own a piece of me.
I don't own a single piece of team logo anything and I don't buy name brand unless I am forced to do it, so the advertisers don't gain from me. I do pay for satellite TV service, but if it wasn't for my kids, I wouldn't even buy that.

It is hard for me to feel sorry for major league sports players for any reason.... they make too much money for me to care.

I want a colorblind society.
Pushing for someone to have a job because of their skin color is racist.

Stop betting, you may lose.
I could care less about BET, except that they push skin color in their name. Not colorblind.

I am a mixed race individual. I am proud of who I am, not what I am.
