I found these in a folder on my old laptop:

Be gracious in defeat

Bloom where you're planted

A small leak can sink a big ship

Well begun is half done

Vanity blossoms, but bears no fruit.

If passion drives you, then let reason steer you.

If you call one wolf, you invite the pack

Taunt the alligator after you’ve crossed the river.

A wise man appreciates an enemy; a fool doesn’t even appreciate a friend.

You cannot outrun temptation, nor can you hide from it. You must defeat it.

The more corrupt a government, the more numerous its laws.

I was just watching 'Mothman' again. One quote from the movie that always stuck with me ... 'they notice that you notice'. In other words, the more you pay attention to the spooks, the bolder they'll become. And that's not necessarily a good thing.

The Illusion of Freedom

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

In my country they have a saying. Do you know how we know the gods are good. I wasn't born the first son.

Red viper of dorne, a clash with kings, a game of thrones.

I saw Frank's autobiography online one night a couple years ago. I read it right through... stayed up most of the night.
It was great. His 'take' on almost every issue, every topic was so spot-on. He had an incredible insight.

If asked if you care about the world's problems, look long and deep into the eyes of he who asks...... he will never ask you again.

In a world as weird and cruel as this one we have made for ourselves, I figure anybody who can find peace and personal happiness without ripping off somebody else has earned the privilege to be left alone.

Hunter S Thompson

Finnish proverbs

Life is uncertain so eat your dessert first.

The elderly, even if deaf and blind, still know a lot.

A child is like an axe; even if it hurts, you stil carry them on your shoulders.

War does not determine who is right, only who is remaining.

Iron must be forged when it is hot.

Better a bony agreement than a fat disagreement.

A brave man eats the soup, a shy won't even get cabbage.

Empty barrels clack the most

Of a stupid head the whole body has to suffer.

Lies have short legs.

A wise fool is wiser than a foolish wise man.

One stupid person asks more than ten wise ones can spare time answering.

The flaw doesn't need to be big, if it is in the head.

A loan is a brother when taken, a nephew when paid back.

A cat would eat the fish, but not be ready to wet its paws.

Whose bread you eat, his songs you'll sing.

A snotnose may grow up to be a man; but he who laughs without cause, never.

In a group stupidity condenses

Who digs a hole for another, falls in it himself.

Like pissed while running. (sloppy work )

and more...

“Hate the sin, love the sinner.”

"Restrict the damager and make selfish actions unworthy together, but let them know that it's not hatred. Help another to have a better life and all have a benefit."

"Believe in a false reality of the mind of another person and it will slowly become the only truth within your perception and can even turn the other person into what you believed the him to be, if he does not notice and resist. The solution is to be open-minded to any other possible case and the possibility of unknown cases."
