Same here. I have a high rank in Civil Defense and most of the training has been with drones. My house and land becomes a communication center and heliport once a state of emergency is declared. The drones are for investigating 'hotspots' such as extreme chemical disasters, biological warfare or Nuclear attack. I wonder if they are part of the training at U of M?

East London has City Airport - they have to train for what might happen. Not to train would be irresponsible.

Given the amount of air traffic n a daily basis over London, I believe the scenario of one coming down in a populated area is a wise precaution on behalf of the emergency services.

Just for interest, the aircraft registation in the photo is N530WL, this was it seems on old 767-406 and used to be operated by KLM

There are all kinds of drills all around the world every day, the suggestion that that they are in "preparation" for a "false flag" or something similar are generally nonsense.

Although, I will add that the events around 7/7 leave a LOT of questions unanswered. But then again, that was not a state sanctioned drill, that was a private company working for another private company (both should have been publicly exposed and thoroughly investigated by all the authorities).

Second, the only thing strange about the recent arrival and escorting of Russian jets was that it was publicized so much, while the MOD and others were stating that this was "standard practice". I think personally that this was an over-eager press wanting to get some headlines. I know I have seen the BBC reporting such interceptions before, but it never made the top headlines because it wasn't in the public interest to present it with such importance. The authorities state in every instance of this report I have seen that this is not unusual. They do this several times a year.

I think this was just a matter of it being relevant to current events, and it's not like they lied in the reports, they clearly stated that this is not so unusual. It's the job of the press to report stories that are in the public interest, and this was in the public interest.

Russia has the right to use international airspace and we have a responsibility to investigate when they come close. They didn't breach our airspace, they came close, and both Russia and the UK have a legal right to operate in that space. That's why we sent planes to intercept and investigate.

Now, if they crossed over into recognized UK airspace and refused to explain themselves within adequate time, we would have the right to shoot them out of the sky. They didn't do that, so we didn't take them down.

So common sense tells you that an exercise like this would be planned out months in advance. Scouting the area, getting the crashed planes parts, deciding who would participate, recruiting your "vicitms", getting the proper permits and paper work, setting the goals of the training, alerting the the people in the area about the drill etc. Russian planes off the coast a couple days ago is clearly completely unrelated. Unless the UK has time travel and after the planes flew by a day ago they went back in time and then planned a unrelated crash exercise on the other side of the country for a reason nobody can figure out.

Thank you for volunteering Spooky for your community as well. Yes we do have drones as well....recently (last week)...we were flying a drone copter (small toy size) over rooftops where there was no camera coverage or ability to see.

These are planned years...at least 2...in advance...emergency services ready...a "callout" for volunteers to be victims (a lot of fun for the day by the way)...and no "scouting" locations. These are set far in advance because of the logistics.

Bog standard, happens on a regular basis sort of event this. The emergency services in London routinely run through an worst case scenario for all kinds of events. I'm fairly sure from something someone in the LAS said in the past they've run drill for downed planes in the city before. Knowing the guy organising it, he'd probably have a scenario where it's hit a hospital, then set fire to a school.

My part in it is small-a communication and command center. All the heavy planning and logistics drills involve medical apparatus with supply and temporary services are not here. The biological teams might use the command center and they don't tell me a damn thing anyway so after a while you stop asking questions. The plans for all the tents and evacuations drills are about 8 miles from here.
