Jesse Ventura's Threads of Non-Substance.

I have to agree that Jesse's contributions to the original thread were rather innocuous. Actually I have found that to be the case with pretty much all the drive-by guests. Has anything truly revealing ever been imparted here by the special guests? I haven't seen it.

I watched Jesse's broadcast from the Denver airport, as I believe that place holds special significance in this new age we've arrived at. There's too much to ignore there. I came away with no new information and Jesse accepted everything at face value. Eh! Waste of my time.

If any of these people want to really contribute, there should be nothing holding them back here. This would be the place to let it fly. Most here are their supporters. The world outside ATS thinks they're whack jobs. So what better place than ATS to let it all hang out?

i'd say give it time. Jesse will settle into a more defined position within ATS.

It's just my opinion, but I think we need to realize that ATS is NOT just a site for us "enlightened" people to come and discuss certain topics. It is an investment/business venture for Mark and Bill and a site for people to be entertained as well.

Not only do I like to post and read interesting topics posted by the members, I also come here to be entertained. I watch the videos produced by ATS' video partner, I listen to the radio shows, I enjoy the art that members share and I enjoy the special guests and such that come around to join us....like Jessie Ventura.

( I really liked the ATS games they use to have here! Come on Mark-Bill, give us a game! )

So I don't mind seeing an advert here and there and I don't mind JV plugging his site or twitter if the big guys allow it. Hell, I am never asked to pay for any services on ATS so I do click on some of the ads just to help support ATS in any way I can.

Thats' my two cents and I hope that we can enjoy what we get on ATS without being too critical. I have yet to find a site that comes close to what ATS offers.

A "Thread" I can accept but "Threads" is starting to be a pattern IMO.

I'm not challenging you here at all, but you have more than once mentioned these explanations have been previously said and repeatedly.

I have looked in the B&B forum and Slayer's thread about the new ATS, but I keep seeming to miss these sort of announcements.

I s there a thread or some posts explaining this collaboration with Ventura, and some of the other coming tweaks to the new version of ATS that you could direct us too?
Like in a more central "location" on ATS, so we don't have to ask questions that have been "repeatedly" explained?

Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough, and if that is the case, I apologize.

I have seen the OTG forum, but it doesn't really explain much and the threads sort of follow the same format the OP describes.

I don't really mind Jesse's new affiliation with ATS, his presence and shout-outs alone are sure to increase traffic at least marginally regardless of our opinions on his content, and our forum growing can only serve to increase the collective knowledge available here. I don't really mind ads on ATS either, more money is more potential.

As has been previously said, there are no financial considerations for the collaboration with Jesse and Ora.TV. None. It's simply the very early beginning of an experiment in collaboration between two like-minded entities: AboveTopSecret.com and Jesse Ventura.

Are ATS members giving Jesse our work only to be used as his own?

Anything that comes from here and appears on one of his videos will give proper credit back to ATS.

It seems that one or the other is at play...at least to me. I sadly am starting to lose any respect I once held for Jesse as it seems (maybe only to me) that he is capitalizing on the Doom-Porn market and using ATS as a soap box.

Jesse! Please bring it because you are in a position to and you've been given the platform of ATS.

As has been said previously, and often, he is not in a position to make regular visits to ATS, nor have we asked him to. He will, his assistants will, but in this very early beginning of an experiment in collaboration between us and him and his team, it's best that we see how we stand together before we walk and before we run.

I merely posted my concerns and opinions as a member WITHOUT insult. I would ask to be treated in kind from ownership.

My information is from threads without substance from a source that claims substance.

Thank you for the clarification of the who pays/benefits who question tho. This for me is very important.

Kudos to you for calling them out! I lost all respect for Ventura when he did not answer my question on the AMA. It was on the first page, he just plain out did not answer it. It appears that ATS is using his likeness for attracting new members, rather than the substance and quality threads we true ats'ers are looking for. Well, star and flag OP, and lets hope they dont 404 this thread like the others.

To be honest I expected a 404 at the beginning but gave ATS the benefit of the doubt and that we could Discuss this with fairness.

Substance. This thread lacks it.

It all comes down to making money. Jesse is an entertainer and he wants to promote his tv shows, books or whatever else he is peddling. ATS gets a B level celebrity as a member, which brings in new members and attracts more advertisers. It's a win/win for both parties.

I didn't ignore your OP. I read it in it's entirety. What I stated was not an attempt at misdirection at all. It seemed like a perfectly clear reply to me, but maybe I went overboard. What I'm trying to say is:

There are bigger issues to talk about than Jesse Ventura and what he is doing on ATS.

You are accusing the guy of posting threads that have no substance, meanwhile this thread is getting all kinds of attention while threads of real substance are being ignored. I was trying to point out the irony in that.

This thread needs a crossbar armlock followed by a quick toss over the top rope.
