That was the reason for the ship being sent into the Black Sea wasn't it?
To show support for the Ukrainians.

So we see how Moscow reacts to that, they buzz our ship to send a warning that they also are watching us.

Not a good sign really.

To much of a potential for an exchange of fire.
I bet we send more ships now.

Yea, for every action, there usually is a reaction.

The Pentagon, not Fox News called the moves "provocative."

Yep.

Now...Obama will give yet another warning.... at least he
stopped apologizing a while ago.

Does the US own that part of the sea? Or air space? sounds like FUX news is trying to make a Mountain out of a mole hill..

wish we had Access to record on how many times US drones violated "air space"

Just saying....

No, they don't own that part of the sea, but all naval ships are surrounded by a no fly zone. You DO NOT fly anywhere near them, it's damn near an act of war.

the article does NOT say how close the US ship was to Russian ships or shore....the article did NOT say how close the Russian plane was to the US ship...the article did NOT say if there were US warplanes in that area also flying around, the article did NOT say if there were other US ships in the area.....some key information obviously left out, but, for what purpose?

I responded to your posting which was clearly untrue, and you did not see fit to adjust your post to the facts reported. I can only assume that you did not do so, because you sought your post to have a particular fearmongering effect?

...what this means as a development in the Ukraine crisis and the potential of an escalation including a military confrontation.

It means nothing. No escalation at all. However, what is 'provocative' is the presence of an American warship in the Bear's own backyard. Is it any wonder it received a few flybys by a Russian jet, clearly not armed.

Going off a number of posts here, many are positing the view that Russia is seeking to escalate the Ukraine crisis into a war with the West, which is clearly not the case. If any country is doing any provoking it is America with its warship, seeking to provoke Russia into certain actions that America can respond to, but Putin isn't having any of it. Meanwhile, back at the ranch in America, while many Americans are looking across the pond to the Ukraine, what exactly is going on in America, what news is being buried, what diabolical machination is underway and being hid from the American public consciousness?

Americans should forget the Ukraine and tender their consciousness to the rapid decline of their own country. The Ukraine crisis will sort itself out over the coming months. It needs no Western interference.

The Black Sea is in International Waters. U.S. Navy has as much right to be there as the Russian Navy.

When Obama says "there will be costs".

I always wonder how much we will have to pay.

This is not a 'support Fox News thread'.

It is,however,a 'how are we going to respond' thread' . With another selfie? More sanctions? How about a low flyover ourselves or air repsonse. What I do not understand is that it did it for 90 minutes without us sending an aircraft also. There iwere available F-16's in multiple areas. They could not get there within that time frame?

Whether you want to call it a dangerous game of chess or not the Russians are winning the 'game'.

Sorry, but I think any other POTUS in recent history would have called Pootie and said, hey, WTF, international waters or not.

Curious to see if they send some bombers near ALaska soon...it has been over 6 months I think since last time.

That article in particular didn't, but the pentagon news agency specifically stated the jet was 1000yds away at 500 feet on at least one pass. I posted the link and the quote earlier in the thread.

Yes indeed.

Of course, he would phrase it something like...

Much ado about nothing - look if a Russian destroyer was lurking around in similar circumstances 100 miles off of Pensacola, FL then we'd be buzzing it just the same. I understand freedom of navigation cruises but now is not the time for that area and its a provocation to do so. Besides if things went hot that ship is a sitting duck and I don't appreciate failed U.S. policy makers putting it and its sailors in harms way for a political stunt.

I would love to see some F-22's do a low pass over Moscow. Low and slow, and then boogity outta there.

Or if we have better, maybe bring them out for the big air show.

That's how it used to be done during the first Cold War.

The Pentagon spokesperson clearly thinks this was an act of provocation and meant to harm the Ukrainian issues even further...

Warren said he does not think this is an example of a young pilot joyriding. “I would have difficulty believing that two Russian pilots, on their own, would chose to take such an action,” he said. “We’ve seen the Russians conduct themselves unprofessionally and in violation of international norms in Ukraine for several months, and these continued acts of provocation and unprofessionalism do nothing to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine, which we called on the Russians to do.”

It seems more of a taunt than a threat. Its not WW2. You don't have to see the whites of their eyes to sink them. If they meant harm they wouldn't be stooging around at low level in close saying 'kill me kill me', in that case missiles would be seen not the jets.

Other then just being a pain in the ass, I can see them doing this if they want to get a good read on the ships radars in action. This is an old game both sides know how to play.

Why would you "love" that? If that ain't provoking, and actually a clear breach of borders, i don't know what is...

Lets try and turn it around
"I would love to see some MIG's do a low pass over Washington. Low and slow, and then boogity outta there."

Thought the point was NOT to escalate the conflict ? ... unless

Thank you Vasa.
I made it a point a couple years ago not to comment on threads where Fox News is the only source.
I didn't know there were so many Fox fans on the site though.

If this was a serious attempt by Putin, then it's pretty basic. They must not have put very much effort into it.
Remember the Gulf of Tonkin?
