Thankfully, things have settled down with regards to the Bundy ranch.

Remains to be seen what will happen, but for now, a potentially volatile situation has been averted.

Not sure how many of you have seen this video, but it was recorded before the de-escalation. The gentleman speaking makes some excellent points.

What was the government thinking when it descended upon these ranchers with hundreds of agents armed with military firepower?

You always want to retain the moral high ground even when being provoked and the supporters of Mr. Bundy seemed to be very aware of this fact.

If you have a moment, watch this video in its entirety. Its an epic build-up to the end.

Why am I posting this next video? I dont know. Just seems... appropriate.

I want to know what happened in NV, but I want it done factually... To much crap was said and I have no idea wtf is going on..

Anyone with facts please post them here.. I do not want to see natural news, infowars, and the likes.. I want straight sources...

I state above because they are as bad as the tabloid news papers you see in the supermarket.

Law enforcement probably expected a mini-revolution because the NSA is watching all these yahoos.

Looks like the government didn't bring enough forces. They will be back and they could be motivated for an escalation next time. The USG has murdered 100's maybe 1000's of civilians on US soil in the past. Neutralizing an armed local militia would be a justified policing action in terms of the PR. I'm guessing they just didn't have sufficient tactical advantage at this time. This can't be the precedent. These yahoos are playing right into their hands IMO. Someone needed to read Gandhi and MLK, instead of sniper porn.

Fair or not, redress is through the courts. This is generally what citizens need to accept. The other two options are suicide and emigrating. There is no legal support for the idea of true personal ownership of land within the borders of a sovereign nation. In a way it's sad when people spend all their money on weapons and ammo and then they realize they won't help that much when STHTF.

You may have to wait for the movie then .At this point in time there are many questions that have been asked and all every one has been able to offer is some facts and lots of opinions .I look at all the possible things but I cant say with certain about the who what when where and why's ...It strange that there has not been a definitive understanding about it though .We seem to know more about what is going on in the Ukraine then we do here ....

So people standing up for something are considered yahoo's?

Millions, remember those people that used to live here?

Ya how did that work out for MLK again? My history sucks, last i checked he was shot and killed because he was telling people the truth about Vietnam..

There is not such thing as the US being a sovereign nation.. That was hijacked around 1913 or so.. Since then we have had this awesome thing called the Patriot Act and the likes of it, we have the NSA spying on Terr.. I mean US... I meant Terrorist..... ya thats right Terrorists...

Constitution states, Right to bare arms, shall not be infringed, well regulated militia, free state...
I dont see what your missing... Free state and shall not be infringed maybe?

Thank you, Charlie Childers!

Our corrupt rogue federal government is hoping to avoid a revolution that would target them specifically, instead they're trying to inflame a civil war that would pit American against American.

Anyone carrying a badge or serving in the military needs to stand with American citizens, and not with the fraudulent federal government that's currently in power.

On a side note, it's extremely sad how the BLM abandoned and orphaned young calves in a scorching parched desert, during their illegal roundup.

I am with you on that. But the problem I see is virtually no coverage from the once "respected" news sources.
I guess the question we need to start asking now is why? why no coverage? How much coverage was there of justin blierber egging a house or OJs low speed chase? They would break into the super bowl if Lindsey Lowhand had a nipple slip.

Is that all we are left with now? entertainment news and infomercial news networks?

You know what's concerning me most, especially about the last part of Charlie's speech?

He's obviously a rancher/cowboy, looks like he's worked the land all his life. A man who has seen many changes in his life. At the end of his speech he's seeing what's coming.........

What's even scarier is when we apply what he's saying to my country (UK). Let's take our national parks for a start. There was a time you could go 'wild' camping no bother. But now...you try doing that. I don't know. I know what I'm trying to say....I'll go away and think on it a bit.

There is a part of me which is nagging at the thought that out in the US there is so much 'free' land, where people could 'escape' to if the SHTF in some way. But this 'take over' by the Fed Gov is tantamount to the 'kettling' we get in this country. It's like everything is on a bigger scale in the US, but when you transpose the restrictions and erosion of civil and basic human liberties over there back over here.....it really is worrying, when you start thinking about the similarities that have been done in a much more subtle way over here.

OK mumblings and musings over.....as you were...

Redress is through the courts? WTF are you implying? That the courts are honest and that they are controlled by honest administrators in DC? ROFLMAO. The entire system is corrupt so how you going to get justice when the criminals in DC can change the law at will? And then their court enforcers are forced to follow the DC criminals legal changes. And then the criminal police thugs are forced to follow the DC criminal legal changes. We have seen time and time again massive abuses of the justice system, you can't honestly believe that things have changed when the abuses continue daily.

You can't be serious LOL, I hope that "redress" comment was sarcastic.

Cheers - Dave

New York Times good enough?

And like the man said in the video...let them fire the first shot.

One very good reason they did not fire first, Dirty Harry would not
want his name associated with a civilian massacre right before the
fall elections, now would he?

Speculation spiked in recent days over Mr. Reid’s connection to the BLM episode, in which federal contractors seized about 400 head of cattle from 68-year-old rancher Cliven Bundy over his refusal to pay an estimated $1 million in grazing fees over 20 years.

I don't believe anything the government says. I'm inferring likely actions based on previous behavior of authoritarian states.

As I see it, they will dismantle this situation one way or another. Time is on their side. The only battlefield that means anything is information and image the measure of success is success in court of law.

The USG ultimately owns all the territory within it's border.

The notion that cowboys own their land is true until they stop paying taxes. end of story. They are grazing on BLM land and not paying fees. A tax lien is the natural result.

This isn't a movie and I don't want to see people hurt or die in vain.

I'm not implying anything. Courts are the only vehicle to resolve this in a way that the USG will accept. The courts are influenced by public opinion to some extent. These cowboys aren't the only ones to ever be stuck with something they feel is unfair. Almost everyone has. Resolving something with violence is always temporary and therefore is a waste of time. Not paying taxes/fees for 20 years and this guy thinks he's free and clear? And others are willing to give all in an impromptu tax revolt?

Doesn't it make more sense to pay?

The sad part is, that most of these people still think it is over a tortoise or whatever. They need to be informed of the real reasons behind the land grab and then see how pissed they get.
